  • I love this song Freshie bass. Its a little high though but still a great song.

  • Sang this my freshman year of hs, and i'm still in love with it!

  • My high school choir is singing this (I'm a freshman bass) and at first my brother and I (he's a junior and also a bass) hated this song but now I'm like falling in love with it I love this song

  • Haunting. I've sang this song twice in the duration of high school. When the harmonies are hit correctly I get the chills always works.

  • @hellohookertwins same here, Hickory right? I miss mary sooo much. I hope soon to get a tattoo with this on it

  • this song was performed at my best friend's funeral and then by my school choir.

    rest easy, mary. <3

  • I sang this two years in a row for LGPE and my group got 1's both times. It's so beautiful!

  • why is conducting like that? or is the audio/video off?

  • it's probably just me, but I wish that they would put more emotion into the phrases

  • Sang this in chior, then my school's performance chior preformed it at a friends mothers funeral. Touching. I love it.

  • im so happy my choir is gonna learn this

  • This Song Is AhhhMazing, and It Gives Me Chills(:

  • @fivefooteightust ... a semicolon is used incorrectly in your statement. Semicolons are used to combine two sentences such as:

"David likes reading; Isabelle hates reading."

--English/Choir Major at Penn State :-)

  • My choir is going to perform this song. I love it, it's so pretty and sad, yet hopeful. It makes me want to cry.

  • I have chills, so gorgeous.

  • very well done

  • my choir sang this under the dome at the cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC. It was the week of the VT massacre and my school is from that area. this song always brings me to tears. thanks for doing such a great job and bringing back wonderful memories

  • @allyschmoo My choir also sang this in St. John the Divine in NYC and also at Ground Zero. Very sad. Everyone started crying.

This is a beautiful song that sorrows me and relaxes me.

  • I sang this in mixed group chorus at my old school two years in a row, it's one of my favourites!

  • they have a nice rich sound:)

  • im doing this for my choir, and the "wraps me in song" part is my absolute favorite.

  • @caitybearr ditto! I start getting excited everytime the choir instructer pulls this song out!

  • My choir is doing this song I love it.

  • one of my favorite songs I ever got to sing in choir, it touched most of us I think, in one way or another.

  • misleadinbg flagged .. ;) like u do to other people their vids

  • My high school group performed this piece for contest and got a one at state! We were awesome!

  • Love this song!!! wow this choir has such amazing tone and I love the emotion they put behind it. I think this is the best rendition on youtube.

  • The DHS chorus is working on this song right now (technically we're trying to perfect it) and it sounds utterly AMAZING. I've got to be honest, I do believe we top these people 10x over ^_^

  • Completely in love with this song;

My advanced choir sang this last year.

    It was aboslutely gorgeous

  • We're not half as good as these people, but I love this song. We're singing it for a choir concert in my school's A Capella choir.

  • Im singing this song this year in my schools concert choir.

  • We did this song two years ago in my grade 11/12 vocal class.

    It's very pretty.

    I loved singing it.

I found the beginning on this one rather slow and a little boring - however, the middle was beautiful and the parts were well balanced.

  • My Middle School choir is learning this song.

  • Our University Concert Choir is doing this song. Such an amazing piece. It gives me chills everytime we sing it. I love the harmonies.

  • we are doing this song for our concert next tuesday at my high school, this is by far my favorite of the four we are doing

  • This is a beautiful song.

I also had Jen as a choral conductor for a time at Western and she is amazing.

Look up the book "Sing Me to Heaven" and overview the story.... This song is so fitting.

    It's such a beautiful tragedy.

  • MYC, our youth choir is doing this song for our town's International Choral Festival. It's a beautiful and brilliantly written song.

  • We did this song in my junior year and I love it, you guys did a great job, amazing voices everyone has, very strong too: )

  • Actually, the conductor is doing a fantastic job. Even if you disagree, there is no reason to "hate" anyone. Also, the rules of grammar: look into them. Please.

  • @sanyway27 actually, if you're going to lecture on grammar, you should not insert a colon without introducing it first; such as "We will be singing the following songs:" Use "the following" or "as follows." Basically warn the reader that a colon is coming up.

  • oh my god yes! in ohio! :-D how did you know??!!

  • My HS madrigal choir sang this this past year *Firestone HS WOOHOO!! :)* and i half to say when they sang it, i got goosebumps and i cried...

  • Firestone HS in Ohio?

    (:

  • Jen's my fav'. Keep it up!

  • i get chills everytime a choir sings this song

  • Same here

  • i ment 2 put.

    this song is gorgeous.

    their harmonies rite on.

chords r n tune almost flawless.

    great job.

  • this song isgorgeous

    their harmonies rite on

chords r n une almost flawless

  • Gorgeous. :)

  • beautiful, but i like the SSAA version better!

  • The comment about the group using sheet music during their performance was made a long time ago. I really like this song, so please just drop it. I know they are not cheating , it was a joke. I've seen more groups sing this piece without having the sheet music right there.

  • this sounds really good...we're singing it in our all men's choir at school

  • Great job on a great song! Very well in tune and the sound is awesome!

  • this is beautiful; were doing it in my chamber chior;

i agree i get chills listening to it too.

    one of my favorites.

  • ...amazing...

we are singing this in choir now and i get chills listening to it..

  • my choir sang thiis when i was in 6th grade. i love it

  • Yes this is a fact. My son memorized everything for their performances, but he was in Men's chorus and chamber every day. As an adult in a volunteer choir, we rehearse on Thursday nights, big difference. 10 hours of practice compared to 2 1/2. We memorize bits, but never entire pieces of music.

  • oftentimes adult choirs rehearse 1/5 the amount of time high school groups rehearse.

  • Not to sound mean but why do the old people get to have the music in front of them. We had to memorizes it and sing it by heart. It was still very good but their cheating.

  • not really;

    i go to a performing arts school;

and we always have music in front of us

    unless were in our smaller groups;

it honestly depends on the difficulty of the piece.

  • Wow, I got three minus. LOL, I still think they did a really good job. People are so touchy.

  • they're cheating* nice grammar there slick.

and no. they're not. everyone uses music. duh.

  • Great version of this early Rolling Stones composition.

  • No, I don't think so. Are you humorless?

  • this song never fails to make me cry and this is an excellent interpretation of it!!

  • Pacing is too slow for my taste. Generally, I like the pace of numbers of this kind a little slower, both with solo recitalists and choral, so the singer(s) can linger and have more effect, but that doesn't seem to be the case here, at least for me. This is one of the very best choral anthems written in the 22nd half of the 20th century. I have sung it myself with two choral groups and our church choir and I have met Daniel Gawthrop, when he was attending a premier of one of his choral works.

  • I really like this song and back during my high school years, our high school choir (which I was in, I was an alto) actually sang this for a fellow student's funeral so it does bring some very somber memories, but a very beautiful song indeed.

  • I agree, I'm in the porterville high school madrigals, and we are doing this song, it's so beautiful, i can't wait until we perform!

  • It's nice to hear adults do this song. I've been listening to all the high school choirs on here do it, and they just can't compete with mature voices. Sorry!

  • i love jennifer moir!

    she's a amazing conducter!

  • I did this song for a solo and ensemble. It was a small group out of my chamber choir... I carried the alto part alone... it was the best i've ever heard to be honest. there were two girls doing soprano and when it splits it was basically 1 person on a part and then we had our tenors and such all in all about 7 of us? if that maybe only 6. We placed superior twice but for some reason didn't quite get to go to allstate. oh well. lol this song is beautiful. Sounds better slowed. NOT sped up

  • we did this in our fall concert at my high school in our select group that contains about 16 students, and it sounded really good. we sing it all the time now. it sounds really great guys! keep up the work!!

  • my chorus tried to do this.

it really didnt work out to well...

    but this sounds amazing

  • This is one of the toughest pieces in choral music. Eric Whitacre's being number 1. lol. You guys did amazing, just watch your "A" vowel and at "sing me to heaven" the 1st the sopranos were a little sharp! But this is one of the best Ive heard of this piece! Great job!

  • this is one my favorite choir songs of all time

  • mine to!

they sound absolutly beutifle! graceful yet powerful!!!!

  • Beautiful song!

  • we sang this in my choir and our director cried.

  • The conductor is my voice studio teacher at UWO. She is beyond fantastic as both a private instructor and a choral director!

  • me and my choir are peforming this in about a week im in the 9th grade and it is tuff surprised the 7th grader down there is doing it also

  • This gave me chills. Absolutely beautiful job!

  • ok it was done beautifly

but ur S's are sticking out

i know that the s is the hardest consant to cover

it can sound like a snake

  • i m in 7th grade and i will be performing this in a week and i got very inspired very nice!!!!!!!

  • I performed this piece with the NC United Methodist Youth Choir back in 1995. I lost the music, and just found this on here. Thanks for posting this, it brings back very good memories

  • I love this song, but i like open vowels, which i saw most of the time, but some of the vowels were not open enough to make the performance perfect, but it did go quite well, i applaude you!

  • pretty good, but it would sound better if it said 'Suh'questerd, not sequesterd

  • I got chills from this one..amazing,you did amazing guys...this is why I love choir...it is truely beautiful and is the only way to speak to my heart directly...choirs like you keep my passion for choir grow deeper...

  • Our Minnesingers Choir sung this my senior year back in 1995...lol seems so long ago but We did a concert at Carnegie Hall and to help us get there we had a concert in Dallas to raise funds..this was our closing number Beautiful lyrics and beautiful chords ..dissonance is the core of this piece...coupled with the lyrics makes beautiful music

  • Out of all the pieces my treble choir sung during senior year this one was my favorite and will always be. Its haunting and melancholy and listening to it gives me the chills.

  • This piece makes me melt. I loved performing this piece.

  • if you would comfort me

    sing me a lullaby

if you would win my heart

    sing me a love song

    if you would mourn me

    and bring me to God

    sing me a requiem,

    sing me to heaven!

    ah...so beautiful! ;)

  • So Beautiful. Makes me bathe in his presence forever.

  • nice! sounded a bit pitchy on some of the unison parts.

  • my high school chamber ensemble has to sing this for a competition soon...i hope we do as well as these folks!

  • Wonderful!!!!

  • you are all amazing. i love this piece.

  • my highschool chamber singers did this... actually we rocked this!!! a man by the name of Todd Schrowder got us in to capital records in hollywood and we got to record this song!!!! we are amazing i wish i had a video of us singing it.....

  • im in peabody. and we sound better...no offence...its good though :] i like it

  • i agree ^_~

  • Tomorrow, Gawthrop's anthem will bring comfort to a Mississippi family whose father died unexpectedly yesterday.

  • even though this choir sang it alittle faster than us i still love it....itz just more emotional when itz slower and more touching in my personal opioion

  • beautiful piece of music this one.....we are doing this song two more times in front of a live audience so it'll make four....at the end of the song i always come very close to crying...itz so moving.....espically because there's a girl in my choir that i like...itz hard to explain but a moveable piece

  • This piece will always hold a very dear place in my heart. Did it on two different occasions in high school concert choir. Definitely a special piece.

  • Yes, me too! It really touches me tesubcalle.

  • this is beautiful! everything was well balanced and just beautiful... i sang this when i first got into my college choir... loved this video!

  • Beautiful, though the best I've ever heard it is still when the St. Olaf Choir did it on NPR's Performance Today a while back. It's still available for listening online.

  • there are def voices that stuck out in this :( I was hoping it would be amazing, however, just good. meh.

  • I love this song, My choir sang this when the president of my college died, i want this song played at my funeral, lol

  • i want it played at my wedding. i sang this my senior year of high school for UIL and i've never been able to forget it. this is my 7th year to be in a choir [middle school, high school & college] and its the only piece that really touched me.

  • this is one of my most favortie choral pieces! my madrigals sang this and were amazing! i'm glad i could find this. Thanks!

  • finally.... i've been looking for a good recording of this song all day. bravo.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • We did this last year in my school's Acapella choir. but it sucked compared to this :(

  • I am in high school and i just had a concert yesterday and we sang this piece. It was my favorite piece of the night. You guys sing this amazingly. When i hear this done right i get chills and i got them so many times listening to this. Great job.

  • Surperior Job! You did exactly everything my choir's director said to do!

This is how the song should be done
