You could check the pictures of the concentration camps online, if you haven't yet. There are also lots of articles and books on the Holocaust, since encyclopedias aren't really enough. I feel that the number of Jews murdered is pretty dubious, but I do know there were lots of them killed, which is a sad fact indeed.

I had to watch this twice, from two different postings, to make sure it wasn't a gag. The scene with the maimed soldiers being apparently forced to hop on their remaining leg thru the obstacle course . . . my god, it was like something out of Monty Python, only crueler. These videos were captured on chemical film as you can see (dust, trails). Obvisiously every programme was filmed first, cut(, censored) and not until then broadcasted.
The German TV started in March, 22nd 1935 with 180 lines and switched 2 years later to 441 lines. PAL (since relaunch 1952) is at least digitized in a 768x576-format.
BTW: the comdian has not had to amuse the audience, but to frighten ;-)
That's true, many TV programs were prerecorded, but there were also the live broadcasts trough intermediate film (delay c. 1-2 min), especially in the first years of Paul Nipkow TV.
More properly System B (625 lines) from 1952 relaunch. PAL (since 1967) is the color system used with their existing system B (and is used with other systems as well)
The British People (and also the Americans) are fascinated from Nazi Germany, I think. Most British Newspapers make comparisons with Nazi Germany and Germany today, completely pointless.

TV did exist then. Both german networks (Reichspost-Fernsehen, RRG-Fernsehen) started in March 1935, England (BBC) started in late 1936 and the USA in 1938. There was a steady test-programm in Berlin since 1929, but public TV started there in 1935. While UK and USA stopped their programm during the war, Nazi-Germany kept broadcasting till 1944. Believe me, I spent weeks in archives to watch all the footage that's left (for university).
In this case it's very simple. The footage you see here was simply filmed on 35mm film and then aired. They were experimenting with early analogue hard disc recorders, but they never worked properly. So you are right. They didn't have vcr yet. But there were mixed forms. They had OB-vehicles with filmcameras installed on their roof. The film was led into the car through the roof, immediately processed and aired 60 seconds later. So there are still some live reports existing
@zoltepp09--Please check the New York Times for the years 1942 - 1945. Look in the radio listings on Sundays for the coming week. You will find a few television programs by NBC, CBS or Dumont for the New York City area. The US had TV during World War II in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Schenectady and Philadelphia. However, each station only broadcast 4 hours of programs per week during the war. It was authorized so as to keep the science alive even it was very limited.
@H0llaZ1990 The transmitters and parts of the building in Berlin had been destroyed after a british airstrike in late 1944 so there was no chance to carry on broadcasting. What you have seen was probably footage from the "Wochenschau", the newsreel that was produced for the cinemas. The last "Wochenschau was released on March 22, 1945.
That March 45 footage was the German propaganda newsreel, not TV. It would have been difficult back in March 1945 to find an operating cinema within nazi-run territory. Most Germans watched TV in TV watching rooms, i.e. cinemas, rather than at home. Everything was pretty much rubble, or about to become so. The German economy would not have been in a state after September 1944 to even run a single state-run TV channel- whatever was left would have had to go into defence.

You could check the pictures of the concentration camps online, if you haven't yet. There are also lots of articles and books on the Holocaust, since encyclopedias aren't really enough. I feel that the number of Jews murdered is pretty dubious, but I do know there were lots of them killed, which is a sad fact indeed.

Do remember that history is written by the victors and that the ovens weren't even correctly assembled, nor could they burn corpses fast enough. There's more, but I'm lazy and don't feel like typing it all. :)

And for video - there was a special kind of makeup (similar to Charlie Chaplin's) to make faces recongizable. The reason for all is easy - poor quality of signal on receivers.

I had to watch this twice, from two different postings, to make sure it wasn't a gag. The scene with the maimed soldiers being apparently forced to hop on their remaining leg thru the obstacle course . . . my god, it was like something out of Monty Python, only crueler. @ThoughtTraveler "No VCR" - true. "No way to record anything from TV" - wrong. They used film. Either a film camera pointed at a television screen, or a leftover of the "intermediate film process". Originally they had no electronic cameras, but they could scan film electronically. So they broadcast "live" using a film camera with an endless film loop, film developed in 30 seconds and then scanned and broadcast, chemicals scratched and fresh ones reapplied. Some of these loops survived.

These videos were captured on chemical film as you can see (dust, trails). Obvisiously every programme was filmed first, cut(, censored) and not until then broadcasted.
The German TV started in March, 22nd 1935 with 180 lines and switched 2 years later to 441 lines. PAL (since relaunch 1952) is at least digitized in a 768x576-format.
BTW: the comdian has not had to amuse the audience, but to frighten ;-)

TV did exist then. Both german networks (Reichspost-Fernsehen, RRG-Fernsehen) started in March 1935, England (BBC) started in late 1936 and the USA in 1938. There was a steady test-programm in Berlin since 1929, but public TV started there in 1935. While UK and USA stopped their programm during the war, Nazi-Germany kept broadcasting till 1944. Believe me, I spent weeks in archives to watch all the footage that's left (for university).

In this case it's very simple. The footage you see here was simply filmed on 35mm film and then aired. They were experimenting with early analogue hard disc recorders, but they never worked properly. So you are right. They didn't have vcr yet. But there were mixed forms. They had OB-vehicles with filmcameras installed on their roof. The film was led into the car through the roof, immediately processed and aired 60 seconds later. So there are still some live reports existing

You will find a few television programs by NBC, CBS or Dumont for the New York City area. The US had TV during World War II in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Schenectady and Philadelphia. However, each station only broadcast 4 hours of programs per week during the war. It was authorized so as to keep the science alive even it was very limited.

@H0llaZ1990 The transmitters and parts of the building in Berlin had been destroyed after a british airstrike in late 1944 so there was no chance to carry on broadcasting. What you have seen was probably footage from the "Wochenschau", the newsreel that was produced for the cinemas. The last "Wochenschau was released on March 22, 1945.

That March 45 footage was the German propaganda newsreel, not TV. It would have been difficult back in March 1945 to find an operating cinema within nazi-run territory. Most Germans watched TV in TV watching rooms, i.e. cinemas, rather than at home. Everything was pretty much rubble, or about to become so. The German economy would not have been in a state after September 1944 to even run a single state-run TV channel- whatever was left would have had to go into defence.

He's not talking about foreigners but apparently about Germans who are not bowing down to the regime. The threat goes explicitly towards followers of the Weimar Republic conservative Zentrum party ("Zentrummel", the English subtitles translate this as "marching to the Centre beat"). The "foreign exchange" bit refers to money exchange profiteers. Apparently a nazi bogeyman, maybe also subtly anti semitic.
