Being an American, I also appreciate that Imperial Blades are made in America. As long as the quality is up there and the price isn't too much more, that would tip my decision to buy these blades over lower priced imports. I'm not trying to be jingoistic about it (a lot of imports are really good products), but I like to support local manufacturing if I have the choice, which I increasingly don't.
The Oshlun Bi-Metal blade cuts 180 nails in 4:00 flat... This one took 5:58 to cut 97 nails. You do the math... look for the Oshlun video here on youtube
@cch62 Uh, you do realize the Oshlun video is sped up 6x after the first few nails, right? So their 180 nails really took about 24 minutes to cut. Also, the nails in this video appear to be 12d framing nails; in the Oshlun video it appears they are cutting 8d spiral shank nails, which have a considerably smaller diameter. I'm not touting one over the other; they both seem pretty impressive to me. Based on these demos, I'd buy whichever one fit my brand of mult-tool and was cheaper.
Well, you sold me. I was looking into buying a set of blades for the Sonicrafter but the main complaint was they don't do well on nails. I see you offer a bimetal blade for it. Glad you posted the video.
I want to offer two bits of constructive criticism. Honestly, I'm not trying to be rude so I hope you take it in the manner intended.
1) Once you show a couple of nail cuts I think it's good enough and can fast forward to the last few.
2) The person doing the cutting keeps making a sawing motion that causes him to regularly slop off of the nail. Let the tool do the work. Your manual sawing motion is doing nothing to help the cut and causes you to waste time as you line the tool back up again.
No not like an angle grinder at all Try the very last cut in this demo with an angle grinder, or even the other 97 cuts, an angle grinder will mar the wood. The angle grinder is a very blunt tool, these are very precise.
Showing 97 cuts in a row demonstrates it can do it. Even a Harbor Freight blade could make it through a few.
Sawing motion is to use the full length of the blade. I doubt it could make all 97 cuts if it just used the center of the blade.
But can it cut through a nail?

Heat kills blades. Moving the blade back and forth helps to reduce heat build-up in specific areas.

The sawing action prevents one small area of the blade getting worn before the rest, nice job.

Aren't these multitools just like angle grinders.
They cost a bit more.
Not bad
