  • Great job. LOVE the song, and the video does it justice.

  • Amazing song and amazing psychedekic pop tune! ;)

  • And yes... it is rest in piece....her soul's fractured into 7 parts. Whoever finds them and fits the parts into the correct slots will live forever... it's what she'd want!

  • Once again, lets all remember the Magnificent Delia Derbyshire....she wrote this track, and also orchestrated the Doctor Who theme tune! Rest in piece Delia!

  • I remember smooth Sunday afternoons with my sister listen to that !

I didn't notice it since about thirtyfive years now ! and I'm just moved like hell...cause the memories are sweet and..innocent somehow !

  • this album is so incredibly good, musical and inovative-

i listen to this one and 'love without sound' almost every day. genius

  • fabulous that you uploaded this, thank you!

  • LOVE IT with a passion! And to add to that, I'm the background singer of the "Firebird" .....have never forgotten making it all those years ago. Its almost like yesterday! Lisa.

  • There's a reference to this track in a recent edition of Wire. Delia Derbyshire of Radio Workshop fame on synthesiser. Fascinating to hear.

  • This was one of my 1st Lp's when it came out in 1969 . . . lucky is the soul who can find "An Electric Storm" by White Noise in a secondhand vinyl store . . . thank you, tonlitt, for uploading this early gem of Electronica ~ (•8-D

  • this video track is from fantasia 2

  • where is this movie clip from?

  • this is my grandmas voice in the chorus!!!! :) i well love her :)

  • Really? That's so cool. I love this album. What's her name? Is she on some of the other tracks? (i really love this album!)

  • @barnymad Hi Barnymad - as you will see from above, it was I who sang the Firebird background to this wonderful song. I'm not on any other tracks unfortunately - can't remember events then but John Whitman (main singer, wonderful voice!) and I rather lost track of Dave Vorhaus and I'm so thrilled to find 'our' song here on Youtube. Takes me back! I'm still singing - but havn't made a record/cassette/CD again.....am totally unknown (apart from this!). Best wishes,

    Lisa.

  • @lise267 Hi Lisa, thanks for taking the time to reply, quite thrilling for me to recieve a personal message from someone involved in making this absolutely classic album. I first heard it in the mid '80s and was able to find a vinyl reissue fairly easily then, now worn and crackly through repeated plays! I love all the tracks, they each have their own unique qualities, and I think your lovely soaring backing vocals on this track are as distinctive as the wonderful electronic weirdness! x Barny

  • @barnymad What a lovely reply - thanks. Its me who is a bit thrilled to hear from someone who loves the song - and other tracks which, as you say, do have unique qualities. Rather nice, too, to hear you comment on my "soaring" voice! And, having only revisited it again recently, I realise that it is! (would love to wind back time and do it all again....). x Lisa.

  • @rosaroo123 No way? I've been wondering Who sung those parts for YEARS. May we know her name? So I can Credit her in the Re-Master I'm doing?

  • @therealKINDLE Hi there, am just letting you know that I sang the Firebird background to this wonderful piece in the late 60's- have never forgotten it.

My name is Lisa Robinson (nee Pollock) and I lived in North London then. Glad you love the song - I do too...and I loved doing it with John Whitman (main theme) and Dave Vorhaus all those years ago. (am still singing, thankfully!).

  • @rosaroo123 your granny is a staRRRRRRRRR.wow!I grew up with this record in more ways than one!

  • @rosaroo123

    really? that's great!

  • @rosaroo123 Awesome! How does she feel, being a part of one of the most stunningly original, timeless, other-wordly, totally innovative, awe-inspiring, deeply psychadelic, emotionally intense, charming, influential, records ever to grace the ears of human beings? :)

  • brilliant White Noise i David Vurhous

  • where's the first video from ?? Superb track btw

  • Brilliant............brings back the 70s when everyone was on the magic mushrooms!!

  • its funny that people had inveted time to make such a fency video clip for this underground lovely song

  • I still like to remember when I played that LP at one of our psychedelic parties back in 1969... one of my teenage hippie friends said: „ Oh shit, take that off... the singer sounds like Hermanns Hermits. But then Dr. Hofmann's chemicals started working and opened the doors to White Noise's dimensions and that guy never mentioned Hermanns Hermits again :+))

  • @framayx this LP was brought out in '72 ;)

  • @Apezak1985 Hi there !

I'm 57 years old now and I was 16 when I bought "An Electric Storm".

I still own that old original record - it definitly came out in 1969 !

Also read the comment of "Clematisian" below. Sorry mate...

  • @framayx

    Correct, it's from '69

  • @framayx ok, cool didn't know that, i really thought it was from '72, the album i have is from '72, thats why i thought ;) really cool that you bought that when you were 16 and the song still kicks ass :) (Y)

  • me too!

  • Strawberry Fields forever! :)

  • Fantastic video - never seen it before. I have the Electric Storm LP and didn't realise so many tracks were posted on Youtube.

  • Donno if the clips are montages or original clips (1st I think) but it is great to see this white noise album back on the screens.

I can only hope there are some more on this album as well as less known pieces and maybe some other of their unreleased musical experiments available s'times soon for us to dig :-).

I will now be able to get my mates (who already think I'm wierd) to see I wasn't lying and this song .... and group really exists ahaha. "White noise" they say, "oh yeh, wasn't that a film?" :O

  • not heard this for years thank you

  • why do you bother posting on every video saying its shit i don't understand you youtube channel haters im not gonna even bother checking if you've made viodeos but if you do im sure you know how hard is to do this.. takes alot of time, and if you don't make vids your just an ignorant human... go out and socialize. Its a waste of hours to spend all your time on WOW and youtube. moderation my friend

  • You did it, tonlitt - I'll be damned.

I'm a fan of this, really. I wonder how it must have been when you first saw this bit of animation and realized it could work.

  • I had no idea that it would work at first... i just flicked thru the fantasia vid, and all the bits i think i needed seemed to be there, so i spent some time editing it until i thought it worked... glad u like it.

  • I really don't know why, but this song reminds me of the moomins.

    really love this song.

  • Thank you posting this little gem. "Electric Storm" has always been on my top ten albums to take on my space ship.

  • Cool animation - I particuarly like the fire bird reference because the community and youth centre I co run (volunatarily run - do not get paid)(is called the Phoenix Centre for obvious reasons

  • Great vid for a cool song. Almost enough to convince me that Fantasia 2000 isn't the shitest movie ever made after all. Your vid's 100x better than that stinker :-)

  • Delie Derbyshire was genius

  • I like to know the name of the movie in the background. The music is very nice =)

  • hi, the animation i used is from Disney's Fantasia 2000 . . . search for : Fantasia 2000 - Firebird Suite (1919 Version)

  • A classic that never got recognition.

Perhaps gladly so, this song is too good to be popular.

  • Brilliant. Love it.
