  • I guess printing money out of thin air so we can suffer from crippling hyper inflation is doing something. I hope you dont have children. I think it will be depressing watching them starve when you cannot afford a $20 loaf of bread to feed them. Who cares about politics! This is serious. Does anybody use their brain anymore?

  • Interesting that the Republican's leader is Sodomite Senator Lindsey Graham. Interesting, but not surprising. Sodomite Senator Lindsey Graham rules over South Carolina, the historical headquarters of the Slave Power and the state with the most anti-poor laws of anywhere in America, except maybe Alabama.

  • The greedy rich have screwed the entire planet.

  • and Obama is doing everything he can to help the greedy rich keep their ill gotten gains. Obama's "Bad Bank" program is just a SCAM to STEAL from the middle class and give to the rich.

    Obama = WORSE than Bush.

  • this is the smartest comment I have seen on this forum. These morons will see just how bad when theres no food to feed their clueless faces. I cant believe people can be this stupid

  • A HUGE percentage of the people out there who've lost their homes were flat-out scammed.

Given loans with the intent of jacking up their payments later, taking their money now in upfront costs then stealing their homes later when the payments were boosted, The greedy wealthy and rich have cause the housing bust.

And again the greedy wealthy and rich have cause the economic crumble by outsourcing jobs and manufacturing to boost profits paying cheap salaries in china and elsewhere.

  • Thank God (do nothing) McCain lost....

If he had won the election the Repubs would advise him to (do nothing) except give more tax cuts to the rich and let the economy, the country, and countless hard working average folks crumble and go down the tubes when this entire economic crisis is the fault of the rich and their greed.

The banks are owned by the rich, wall street (again) playground of the rich, many loans were given to folks with the intent to take their money AND later their house.

  • It's always scary when a Republican suggests nationalization...it's really that bad now

  • what an inspraration. i was inspired by this video. it really make me looking into my own life and i relised i needed to do something about it.

  • why do networks ask McCain to appear, does it make good television? and why oh why does he go on and TALK.

and he is still teaching Obama how things really get done.

  • If Axelrod wants a strong and vibrant banking sector, he should support letting the insolvent ones go bankrupt.

  • It seems that the GOP like any drunk has hit bottom. That was Repub Graham suggesting a socialization of the banks, right?

And maybe we can have some legislation to keep them all from getting to big to fail in the future.

  • did I hear that correctly????

a Dem (Axelrod) hoping for Private banking and

a Rep (Graham) for Nationalizing banks

  • stats, Axelrod didn't put nationalizing off the table.

Also, I don't count Graham as a Republican.

  • When ronald regan came to power they changed the way the calculate GDP, Unemployment, and a few other economic signs. If you use the previous measure for unemployment then its around 13% and not the 7 you are told.

GDP based recession isnt to be trusted, if they didnt mess around with figures its been in decline for around a year which is a depression.

You say its a slight on obama when i stated that hes not listening to the economists that predicted this mess? Amusing.

  • You mean that the Chairman of the Hoover Institute for Economics at Stanford University has changed his mind?

You're either lying or severely misinformed. NUMEROUS economists, including the one I refered to, call this "stimulus bill" a recipe for rising unemployment and monetary deflation.

You've been listening to your "messiah" Obama a little too much. That man lies like a rug; but then, he is a politician from Chicago - what else could we expect?

  • Yeah, the Hoover institute. After all, the namesake was whizbang with economic policy.

  • Hoover didn't cause the Great Depression but he did prolong it yes. That was part of the reason for founding the Hoover Institute at his alma mater; to forestall such a mistake again.

All the more reason to respect the words of Dr. Thomas Sowell, Ph.D. of economics.

  • Im now pissed off as you see to be living in some alternative world. WE ARE IN A DEPRESSION, do you not watch the market date.

Obama ISNT listening to the economists who said the crash would happen like jim rogers and peter schiff, Obama isnt a messiah hes just another Bush but talks more eloquently so people fall for his crap.

Wake up pal and turn off the mainstream media, your being had.

  • I have contemplated the alternatives and i wanted that alternative and made it clear to my MP i wanted it. I dont want to pay higher taxes for the rest of my life due to the massive debt burden of failed policys.

Politicians and bankers say nobody saw it coming, yet in 2006 peter schiff on live television predicted it exactly how it planned out

Politicians aint economists, so why are we letting them act like it. Kick out the corrupt bosses and listen to men like jim rogers and peter schiff

  • You ever viewed videos on legendary economist jim rogers? or peter schiff, gerald celente they all oppose bailouts.

America and the worst has binged for years on cheap credit, the depression is the cure (its worse than a recession).

The bailouts and stimulus only serve to make it worse, noticed that despite the money spent so far its getting worse and the dow jones is approaching its november low?

It would be terrible for 2-3 years if we let it go bust ,but we would be stronger long term

  • Isn't Senator Lindsay Graham saying "I would not take off the idea of nationalizing the banks," one of the signs of the apocalypse?

  • quite possibly, what I am all confused about it why are the Republicans talking about nationalizing and the democrats are not? Isn't this backwards? what the hell...

  • Do you believe this bill will kick start the economy or simply put america and generations to come deeper into debt.

  • fuck you john, i hope you burn in hell.

  • NO, this bill is not vital to get our economy moving again; AND, it will do more to the opposite anyway.

Some LIBERAL republicans (RINOs, really) did want a spending bill and they were wrong.

There weren't any tax cuts that Republicans wanted, Corporate Taxes are still the highest in the industrial world.

There weren't any AYE votes because the bill didn't deserve any AYE votes.

  • Yes, the health care system definitely needs to be nationalized as it has been in all other developed countries.

But I wouldn't go so far as to suggest the banks should now be.

  • it actually makes more sense to nationalize the banking industry and not the healthcare sector.

  • We as one of the richest countries in the world should have a system in place that at the very least allows a degree of health care to all our citizens. Nationalize care to the same degree as Canada, might be a bit much but no one should have to choose between meds and meals. As it stands in the US right now health care is rationed based on ability to pay and it's not working for millions of people. The US has the most expensive care and third world infant mortality rates, the system in broken

  • Very well written..

  • What a nice thing to say, Thank you.

  • McCain is behaving like I never thought I would ever see him behave: like a grumpy old man who is sore at losing the chance to ride in Air Force One. I am appalled at his behavior.

  • "post mortem?" yikes

  • Lets nationalize the banks, but never healthcare saith the Republicans.

  • I don't think either of those are good ideas, but I'm not in either major party.

  • Yeah, right. Reaching out; as in "Take this plan or hit the highway"? Some "reaching out".

BTW - where was the reaching out from the left during the previous 8 years? Only reaching out to strangle him!

Now you want better? You'll get better but not the "fold in the tent and give the President every foolish thing his childish heart wants" better.

  • if the democratic party had any resemblance to a spine, bush would have been impeached and most of his cabinet tried in international court for war crimes and crimes against humanity. so why dont you just shut the god damn fuck up, mmkay?

  • Do you have ANY specific charges or are you blowing hate?

    Get a life.

  • i have news for you. the left did reach out. it reached out to send us into iraq, it reached out to sigh the patriot act, the military commissions act, the fisa acts. they reached out to take away your rights. they were reaching out to he right who wanted the same damn thing.

  • It's really hard to reach out to someone while having the stance "I understand what you're saying but I'm not changing one bit on my stance" that's not really reaching out in my opinion, rather doing exactly what bush did which is seemingly patronizing the other side. Making them think you care while you really don't give a damn and you're doing to do what you want anyway.

  • All the bitching republicans complaining about this bill and the last 8 years we are in the shit hole. Its your fault republicans, now the true leaders are getting us out of a hole again just like in the 1990's.

  • You mean when the conservative Republicans forced a balanced budget on Clinton?

  • Where have they been the past 8 years anyway?

  • Wish I had a good answer for you on that one.

I know that the RINOs in Colorado forced a couple of real conservatives out of politics in the late 90s and early 00s. Other than that...

  • Time to storm Washington and take our country back!

  • Amen, brother.

  • Comment removed

  • The U S A has cracked!!!

  • Jesus H. Christ, if you told me a year ago that Lindsay Graham would want to nationalize the banks, I never would have believed you.

  • 2:30 to 2:35 I have no idea who that guy is or who he thinks he is, but someone needs to slap him in the face. "out in the country people are losing their jobs." Wake up dumb fuck people are losing jobs everywhere not just rich people who close down a ranch and fire the workers, It's everywhere! I went into publix and they told me they have a freeze on hiring, PUBLIX! One of the biggest companies out there has froze hiring and will probably start laying people off very soon.

  • It's David Axelrod, former chief campaign strategist, and now Senior Advisor to President Obama. When he refers to "out in the country" he's talking about away from DC and that average folks "kitchen table" discussions indicate support for the president and his plan.

He's another "calm under pressure" kind of guy, like his boss.

    It's gonna be ok.

  • C'mon brother, lets take a longer view. What you're characterizing as weakness and "caving". others, sick of Bush's complete disdain for thinking or alternative points of, view it as the sign of a practical, wise person. That's a huge change if you ask me.

Is he going to go back on campaign promises? of course he will, because the reality changes constantly, and that is something he's willing to face. One big one is Afghanistan. We aren't going to double down there.

  • I have to fault the GOP here. They think they've scored a victory, but they just seem like a bunch of whiney douchebags. The party of no better learn another tune, because the pool of folks willing to buy into a regional, racially polarized, and reactionary view are rapidly dwindling as a percentage of the population. Considering that the (R) 's have a lock only on demos that are diminishing by attrition, the rebranding is the key challenge.

  • The money to fund the stimulus will be borrowed, probably from China. The money will be spent at Wal-Mart, etc. buying Chinese products. The stimulus is a win-win for China, and a lose-lose for America.

  • Like I said, give Obama a chance, and you will see this failed Drug War end! This war has always been a war on minorities, and Obama is going to see that!

After all, Obama inhaled, as that was the whole point; I just love this new President! LOL

Oh and he picked a man from my wonderful Evergreen State, right out of the Emerald City, Home of Hemp fest, to be his new Drug Czar; that keeps me hopeful! LOL

  • How can republicans even pay lip service to small gov't now. lol... to be fair that's just Lindsey Graham so it might not be a republican meme but the republicans are the Borg so chances are if one said it the rest will make themselves believe it. I personally don't have any problem with socializing some private entities but if you have run on the "socialism is our boogieman" strategy how can you then flip all the way over to that flop? Also Axelrod should give Gibbs some lessons.

  • That was not negative, as I have been doing my very best NOT to be negative towards you right-wingers when you bash my new President!

Now if you want to talk about accountability, do you think the Bush Administration should be held accountable for the crimes they have committed, or do you just want accountability when the Dems are in power?

  • How long has Obama been in office, just a few weeks; do ya think he can just wiggle his nose and get everything fixed? LOL

It would not matter what Obama did or didn't do, as you are a Republican and are stuck in the past, so why don't ya just head for the Tar Pits now! LOL

  • GOD! Republicans are the most self-serving a-holes in the world.

  • John King still can't get enough of John McCain. Unfortunately for John King, he's not doing the Repus any favors, since the right wing bases finds no inspiration in McCain and the Dems tune him out altogether. If he wants to help his party, he should turn his show over to the new extremist bucks like Cantor and Ryan.

Get down with the kids, John King! Get down!

  • Obama is just finishing socialist policy Bush started. It was a and is a bad idea.

  • What I find encouraging is that more and more people are waking up to the fact that Rush Limbaugh and Nancy Pellosi work for the same people!!!!!!!! peace

  • No more bank bailouts, and no nationalization! Let incompetent reckless companies fail so the competent smaller businessmen can take over!

  • They'd rather thumb you down than provide a rational argument.

  • The Republicans care more about their bullshit ideology than they do America, but this shouldn't be a surprise, it's been like that since 1992

  • Really it has been this way since Reagan.

  • There ARE people saying do nothing. It IS the best choice. This will be a depressant . Please learn about Austrian Economics. Get off the road to serfdom.

  • Seems to me Obama is being a lot nicer to you rotten Republicans, than you deserve!

Obama is doing what he promised me, and I am a happy American again, after eight years of being ashamed to be an American because of that Idiot Bush; nice to have a SMART President!

  • There's no substantial difference between the parties. Stop being fooled by the tyranny of the two party system.

  • Oh yes there is, and it is a big one for me; one believes in torture and the other doesn't!

  • you can't be serious...

  • I sure am, and I am very happy with my new President! I supported Obama from the beginning, because he was the best person for the job, and I am very happy we won!

Sorry if youre unhappy about it, but I was pretty friggen unhappy for eight long years with that Idiot Bush!

  • I am unhappy with Obama, just like I was with Bush. There is no substantial difference. I will say Obama is a lot better speaker.

  • Obama was the best person for the job that is why he won, and why I voted for him. He knows what it is like to be on the downside of our society; born to a single Mother and his Father being black, that is a hard row to hoe here in America, and look where this man is now. (smile)

Yep, I love my new President, and I love my new grown-up country too! LOL

BTW the whole world loves our new President, and they love us a little more for voting him in. (smile)

  • John McCain lost. He should shut up and get out of the way.

  • Mr. Obama has to stop trying to get bipartisan approval. he will never get republican support, they will ruin any bill he tries to get bipartisan on.

  • thats very true. They are just saying no to everything the democrats propose and blame the democrats for them not wanting to vote.

  • "Just say no," is Maverickian for "bipartisanship. "

At least JohnnyMac has trained himself out of wincing-grinning when he's caught in a lie.

  • fuck the pubs nationalize the banks WTF And whats the deal skipping the part where Sen. Lindsey Graham says why did you put this wasteful measure in for EMT workers or something and that one chick says thats a part you republicans put in and he shuts up...its so funny because everyone knows the repubs didn't even read the thing

  • Oh man, it's Lindsey Graham again-what a loser-get him out of there...

    "This is not bipartisanship"

but Schumer said "we did everything we COULD to be bipartisan!"

Like I always say bipartisanship=democrats doing things republicans way.

When Lindsey Graham says "I know bipartisanship" he's probably talking about when the dems were all dumb and weak and voted to go to war with Iraq-thats bipartisanship-dems acting like lobotomy patients.

  • Screw bipartisanship, let's do this right.

  • The stimulus bill is NOT bi-partisan. The stimulus bill is QUAD-partisan. Senators from FOUR different political parties voted for the stimulus bill.

  • What four?

  • Democrat, Republican, Socialist, and Connecticut for Lieberman.
