(the red guy... pretty sure his axe was brown).

notice its actually axe battler holding the axe. and in the game it was gillius thunderhead (the dwarf) who used the axe. in the sega megadrive release gillius used a silver axe. it was only in the original arcade version where gillius wielded the mighty golden axe.
