Emily Watson plays amazing in this film, and fits perfect as Jackie! She is one heck of an actress!!! BRAVO!!! I don't care if she actually played the music or not, but she played her role perfectly, and this role is hard to play!
Regardless of the criticisms of this film, I was still wondering if anyone was brave enough to upload the entire movie on YouTube like they did with some other films...Or does the movie contain a close-caption that could violate YouTube's policies?
I will never forget this movie and of Jacqueline DuPre's incredible playing. Its a tragedy that this cellist suffered the cruel and brutal effects of multiple sclerosis. I therefore will never listen to another cellist play in the place of Jacqueline DuPre after viewing this film. Jacqueline DuPre is forever irreplaceable.
I liked the movie, but it got criticism for portraying Jackie unfairly. I don't know if that's true or not; maybe she was as unstable and selfish as the movie makes her out to be. Emily Watson and Rachel Griffith were both excellent.
i think this movie somewhat does injustice to jackie. it's all based on hilary's book, in which hilary is portrayed as the victim squeezed out by her sister's egoistic and self-centred genius. a truly despicable act, to reconstruct the image of a dead person who cannot defend herself.
being a true follower of jackie, i find this film absolutely disgusting in its unfair portrayal. the story of her life mostly reconstrued (and misconstrued) by her living sibling, hilary du pre.
Yes, Jackie isn't portrayed as an angel, but what reason do you have to say that this film is inaccurate? I'm curious. Do you know Jackie personally?
This film offers one perspective. It might be biased, or accurate, or somewhere in between. We don't know. But don't bash it simply because Jackie isn't portrayed as who you want her to be. You are just as wrong as those who take this film as the complete truth.
well, you're wrong to simply assume that i don't know anything at all. but i don't wish to justify anything to u or tell u anything about myself. i maintain my stance anyway.
If you really know Jackie better than her own sister does, then I take back what I said about you. But my point stands: unless you know Jackie personally, you have absolutely NO reason to say that this film is inaccurate.
Hilary has said herself: "I was becoming acutely aware that I was being bypassed." and that she didn't seem to be acutely enough aware of is how sour her recollections of sibling rivalry sound.
I too am disappointed that she seems so selfish and messed up in the movie. She seemed nice enough in the interviews, though I havn't met her.
Just curious, but sounds like you might have worked with du Pre, or perhaps was even a friend of hers? Maybe you could shed some light about du Pre from your perspective (rather than from Hilary's perspective, which is just depressing).
Um..I don't mean to sound to dumb but what song is playing in the backroung of this trailer? I saw this movie when I was 11 and this song has been ingrained in my mind since.....problem is I don't know what its called so I can't just go and download it or something. Thanks in advance.
Geniuses always come from genetic hybridisation...and genetic hybridisation always comes with big health surprises just because geniuses would change the world and man would become more powerful than nature, mother nature selects them to not lose power over mankind...
Mother nature has been inventended at matrix times to govern mankind and not to be totally governed by him...man is to have little power on nature...the battle is expected to last long...but when we'll find the mysteries of nature in the whole we will just stop being its slaves...
Emily Watson should have won an Oscar for this film. She was brilliant.

Emily Watson is an actress, not a musician. Of course, some of the clips released were of Jacqueline DuPre. Isn't that correct?

Whoops, I forgot to mention that I know what the song is(Cello Concerto) I just wish to know which movement is playing
KimiYuya 4 years ago
the song in this trailer should be the first movement of the Elgar Cello Concerto.

Many pieces are called Cello Concerto. Could you please specify the composer, if possible? Thanks.

I don't know...do you think the actress actually played the Elgar?
koolkid776 4 years ago
I don't think so. It sounds like the real jacqueline. I don't think anyone could imitate her sound. :P
cellogirl373 4 years ago
I'm pretty sure that all the music in the movie is Jacqueline Dupre's. They actors just, well act
cellochik19 4 years ago
No way. That can't be Emily Watson playing. Not even real world-class cellists could sound like this. Jacqueline's version stands out as the best.
Emily Watson tried her best to fake the actions, but it clearly shows that she doesn't play cello.
