  • Have you heard about masseville road blues???

  • mr miyagi turned into black!

  • I like the invisible pick technique (~0:32). I thought I was the only who plays that way... Wait a minute, I might still be the only one who plays that way.

  • Man the pretentiousness of this lick...Freekin' awesome!!!

  • It sounds like an interpretation of John Lee Hooker's Hobo Blues

  • @hahaurmno He just took the beginning of Hobo Blues and went with it don't you think?

  • THE BLUEs man for long island :D:DD:d(soryy for my english)

  • whats the name of the song that he plays

  • love when willie says "sounds like bird shit".

  • hey folks, 'got a question..

which musicians make music like this? not overrated stuff, just cool blues? thanks :)

  • @freestairway Robert Johnson, Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Freddie King and Albert King

  • @freestairway you can't go wrong with the classical blues names like the Kings, Clapton or Leadbelly, but there are younger players like Ainsley Lister (sp), Eric Bibb, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Doyle Bramhall II , Derek Trucks, Robert Randolph, Joe Bonamassa and even John Mayer (when he's in the John Mayer Trio that is).

  • COMO SE LLAMA ESE BLUES'??

  • he's really playng stupid idiots!!the chords and the fills are all right!!!!

  • Ah, the magic of Hollywood......

  • I love Ralph Macchio.

  • maybe he is.

  • What kind of martin guitar is machio playing. Is it a orchestra model?

  • @LRGDuran I thought it might be a 00-15? I would be interested to find out, though.

  • Man that's some sustain from an accoustic..hehehe

  • "nope" ROTFL I love this movie, Ralph Macchio did an excellent job in this movie. I find myself quoting this movie alot just because its that awesome.

  • america just aint ready for a black blues player

  • take from a real guitar player... hes not really playing...

  • @MentalMirus oh would you think so.... LOL!

We all know who played this...

  • Wax on - wax off..

  • @yahoochiewatchie Wax ain't gon' help that guitar that he bought all worn down just cause' he thought it looked cool, lol

  • LOL PEE FARM!

  • Ralph actually invented the guitar! And for shit's and gigs ... he invented the blues. True story! My father told me so.

  • My father was the producer for this movie he said ralph was actually playing....

  • you must be trollin

  • He wasn't actually playing... he did do all the actual correct fingering for everything except for the final duel, but it wasn't him playing for real on the recording... best damn Fake Real Guitar playing of all time though!

  • Did any body notice the size of the case and the size of the guitar?

  • @abadmancheno hey yeah i did too.

  • Lets set this one straight!...Arlen Roth taught Ralph how to play - or be good enough to fake the part well enough for the movie. Ry plays all the blues slide o n the movie - ala f'eeling bad blues' etc - Arlen plays the fingerstyle blues - as in this clip which is 'Commisary Blues' and Vai only plays the electric lead...Vai never taught Ralph and Ralph can't play well enough to have covered this movie - ANY of it - including Commisary here - which is a piece of piss to play

  • Ralph did not and does not play guitar....for crying out loud...do some research....it's obvious by his finger and chord positions that it's not real...but it looks convincing doesn't it.

  • Ralph did actually play all the blues stuff

  • just so u guys no its actually ralph playing, steve vai taught him how to play for the movie

  • @jaycag ya i could tell its real just by lookin at him

  • @jaycag No, it's Ry Cooder playing. Vai only played his own parts; Cooder played all of the kid's.

  • @stratman06 actually it was Arlen Roth who taught Ralph to play - or to be good enough to fake playing - theres a really good story about it on Arlens website...he used to do two hours teaching a day with him - right after his Karate instructor was done teaching him moves for Karate Kid 2.

  • it's ry cooder playing

  • P-Farm = Parchman Farm. The brutal prison farm in Mississippi. Hard labor.

  • is it fake or real?

  • Ralph Macchio can't play guitar. So yeah, its fake.

  • fml. thats gay haha

  • Whats a pee farm?

  • its a farm, were they harvest pee's.........

  • you mean PEA'S, right?

  • @pkpenguin pea*

  • it really does look like he's playing

  • "Commissary Blues" played by Arlen Roth!

  • Seneca was awesone in this movie. I love when he told maccio after he bought a Telecaster "shit I bet you bought that guitar cause it looked beat up"

  • the kid was called raulph machiao

  • what tuning do you guys think hes in

    i say standard E

  • it really doesnt look like he's playing.....

  • its delayed on this video. watch the dvd. he took lessons to make it look like he was playing, he actually learned a lot from the practice lol

  • It is the same guy haha! It's Ralph Macchio. It's actually Ry Cooder playing the guitar because I doubt the Karate Kid can play at all! It's a really good film actually.

  • You look suspiciously like a retard.

  • amen! preach it brother. some folk just ain't gots no soul!

  • DE LA PTM .. AMI PZ ME GRABARON

  • Can anyone tell me what tuning he's in? I'm trying to work this out. Sounds like an open D maybe.

  • "no mileage lightning!" No mileage.

  • hey danny boy!!!!!!!!

  • Actually, I read somewhere that he studied blues guitar for one or two years to play as the Lightning Boy. Maybe it was only a matter of sound quality and he had to study them blues to make the scenes in which he plays realistic.

  • he looked kinda like MJ for a bit there

  • I don't get it, the guy with the guitar looks so much like he's playing it but he's just pretendin. So if he makes it look so realistic, maybe he could play it in real life?

  • lol you would think but its kinda like a guitar hero game kinda thing, its looks like theyre playin guitar kinda but when they pick up a real one........it doesnt happen.

  • that makes sense. well put.

  • I heard that Steve Vai recorded all the parts for this movie, And The Kid just acted, But I have yet to see steve vai play blues.

  • ry cooder and steve vai recorded all the parts for this movie, so im guessing this must have been cooder..

  • there were 3 guitarist, for classical blues and rock which is steve vai

  • It looks like he really is playing!

  • Is this Robert Johnson or Ry Cooder song???

  • What song is it ???

  • ahhh yeah man, the cafeteria blues, weve all had em man

"Ive got the cafeteria blues, my mashed potatoes are runnin cold"

"Ive got the cafeteria blues, my mashed potatoes are runnin cold"

"my brownies hard as rock, and my nuggets are three days old"

  • HAHAHHAHAHHAH

    Pretty creative man

  • Awesome.

  • im gonna use that one lol

  • @WallowingGrizzly that is...beautiful.

  • @WallowingGrizzly I Nominate you for the best Youtube comment of the Year!

  • @WallowingGrizzly Im runnin' around with the tray in my hand

Im runnin' around with the tray in my hand

this bread is so dry, it is almost like sand.

    :P

  • i think youll find mr. miyagi wrote it.

  • lol

  • who ever said this is zztop shut the hell up

  • anybody got tabs or name of the song.

  • It's called something like "soul from the heart," played once, only once, and never in the history of the world will be played exactly the same again.

  • Live improvisation, one of the raw beauties of the blues. I really like this piece with just an acoustic guitar. Good to see Willie Brown and Robert Johnson are not forgotten.

  • @BlindDogFulton Don't you mean "Soul from the Golden Ghetto"?

  • the tabs? please

  • No its, Steve Ray Vaughn- Pride And Joy.. haha sorry

  • no it's not... pride and joy is very different... dunno what it is but it sure aint pride and joy

  • the song is ZZTOP- la Grange

  • whats the name of that song

  • this movie made me wanta play when i was a kid i loved the karate kid ralph was a good actor very beleavable i didnt know anything about vai all i knew is it sounds cool and the rest is history

  • apoco si ?

  • im sure the karate kid knew how to play not as well as what we hear he faked it good.

  • Bah, that "karate Kid" boy was a fake from 80's. o/

  • yeah lol

  • what movie is this?

  • The Crossroads

  • Crossroads.

Not the one with brittany spears. xD

  • 0:34

  • Kinda sound like Stevie not Vai, Vaughn just in my opinion. I love it when people jam on playing the blues. :]

  • where can i get the tabs for this

  • you have an ears on the side of you head if you work hard it will come, everytime you use them they get better, and in time you will be able to work out just about anything, spend at least half an hour a day on this, its not easy but well worth it.

  • They're not opinions, oh worthless one...THEY'RE FACTS!

  • 37Hudson & 37Terraplane are both the same poser.

  • "Rarely do credits tell anything" is truly an ignorant comment made by a terminally pss'd off fool. Why does youtube engender dopes like this who attack other "commenters?' Must be the clientele....like 37terraplane. Go back to '37 dickweed cuz you're out of touch. Why doesn't anyone like Roth or pay him any attention? Ask yourself that question!

  • Drop dead asshole, his credits were stolen and they were like "come sue us, we're owned by Coca Cola!". He worked over 6 months on that film, and rarely do credits tell anything like the way it really is.....but your words do tell alot about you and your IGNORANCE!!

  • It's "Commissary Blues", played by Arlen Roth, who taught Ralph for the film, and played many of his guitar parts in the movie as well.

  • Wasn't it Ray Cooder who tought ralph?

  • No, Arlen Roth did ALL the teaching, and most of Ralph's playing in the film. In fact, he and Ralph starting working on the guitar parts 2 months before they even started filming!

  • didnt vai and arrlen both coach ralph during filming

  • Arlen Roth did all the coaching for teh film, before and during, and played most of Ralph's parts.

  • Its true

Roth did play most of Ralph's parts, but the music itself was written by Vai..still amazes me this movies :D

  • Roth did play most of Ralph's parts, actually ALL his parts, but afterwards, Cooder overdubbed his parts exactly (or close to it)so it would still match Ralph's hands. Then took credit for it,when it was actually Roth who wrote and played those parts.Since Ralph was taught by Roth it was only Roth who knew to play pieces that would be in Ralph's"zone",so he'd look beleiveable. The classical was played by Kanengiser. Even during the duel, the classical stuff on the electric is Bill, sped up, not Vai.

  • Blues come from Delta to cinemas and TV shows...

    Bad times now...

  • what's the title of this song?

  • That's a random improve blues jam.

  • I guess I can see how new modern hip hop and techno freaks don't appreciate this movie... But seriously! This is THE movie! This is my bible:p Wish I found a crossroad, where I could make a deal:p

  • yeah, ive played for two years now, and this movie brings another perspective of playing... kinda brings a tear to your eye...

  • lovely sound

  • WOOOT If I'm not mistaken.. that's a Martin & Co Guitar :P

  • Britny? Yes..she could play it in this film.

    BAd film about blues...

  • this film was NOT bad,

    you just dont respect it

  • what a doll that ralph macchio <3.. mmm i love this movie. so much emotion throughout the whole film and he wasn't even playing. what an actor ;)

  • brilliant film.

    no thats not him playing.

ry cooder was his teacher and thought him how to finger synch for the film.

brilliant guitar in this movie throughout.

  • is it really him playing??

  • I don't think so, although I've heard that he does play guitar. Pretty good synching in my book! I believe it's safe to say that everything visual was done quite well, but professional guitarists recorded the sound that we hear in the movie. Now on the other hand Steve Via who was featured pit against the boy could have easily recorded the video and sound at the same time. Excellent pro guitarists involved. Love the blues feel throughout.

  • have this song a name?

  • Yes, jessupar, I like it to .... awesome movie,good music,interesting story....

  • i love that movie...

    "That's son house"

    "sounds like bird shit"

  • i love this movie

  • i want to see all the movie

because i dont have seen all already

please if you can upload more please

  • It's a wonderful movie, one of my favorites. To the best of my knowledge, it's too easily viewed as a form of theft to simply download a movie without paying. However, I'm sure there are many ways to purchase the movie online, plus likely often its convenient to download especially if you have broadband connection. I'd suggest googling for videos or DVD's for more info.

If you're slim on cash, many libraries provide movies for free or low price. Good luck! :)

  • yes sir 1wayblues! i apologize. i forgot this forum was made for you to tell people what to do. is there anything elsei have done wrong. please tell me so i can correct all my flaws... in case i'm not clear... DO NOT TELL ME WHAT TO DO!

  • Shut your mouth asswipe. 1WayBlues has a good point. Don't attack him for trying to to do some good.

  • I love this movie.

I love Ralph Macchio, as well <3

  • OMG !!! He is SO HOT !!! Ralph Macchio is SO HOT AND CUTE LIKE THAT !!!

    :D

  • what tuning is it?

  • wow! hpfan... the fact that you know that is way more suprising than the fact that you know that. haha! i salute you and you dumb faced mom!

  • This forum is not for cutting others down. It's supposed to be reasonable and constructive so people appreciate what they see, hear and read.

Please respect others even if you don't find what they write according to your own taste.

  • yea some one tab it and help we poor ear guitar players :]

    golden gettho hahahaha

  • any1 have the tabs for this?

  • do ya'll know that Ralph macchio was chosen to play as Marty from Back to the future but chose to do Crossroads instead?

  • crossroads is a much better movie anyway. either way, he would have to play guitar.

  • Really?!?! thats an awesome fact to know. im glad he chose crossroads at least he got some cultural development if not critical acclaim!!

  • Cool info hpfanatic234, thanks! I like him in Karate Kid, but think he did great/better in this movie. His guitar playing looks fairly realistic, as well as the way he carries himself while playing, seems like a the real deal. When you consider the typical actor does a skilled art form like guitar, it's usually pretty hard to make it look passable, but I think they did an excellent job making it look and sound so good.

  • I would like to shake Michael J. Fox's hand on that one. Then again He does not need my help.

  • i still like the crane kick.

  • Is this a Martin 0-15?

  • I think its a Gibson J-o2

  • so he isnt actually playing in this part?
