@darklord45rer The 3DS launches in March. Nintendo has not announced the exact date yet. The price will be about $249-$279. The $50 down payment will be subtracted from the normal price. GameStop will give you a receipt for the down payment plus they will take your name and phone number. I have preordered systems and games from GameStop many times without any problems.
@MrPeelhere Well, if you preorder it then no matter what happens you will get a 3ds when it comes out. Because if you don't, and they run out of 3DS' then you can't buy it until they get a new one.
@nesguide Ack! I got a little bit ahead of myself there, didn't I? Thanks for the tip.
No, the price hasn't been announced yet. GameStop has it listed for $9,999 because they don't know the final price but I think that $249 to $279 is realistic. Game development is going to be expensive so I think $40 to $45 for new releases is likely.
@ChicoEdge I'm pretty sure it'll be about $300. When I put my $50 down on it the debit card screen thing said I paid $50 dollars out of $1,000 and I was like "WTF???" lol
@DerdleDoo That was my experience too. The $300 talk comes mainly from directly converting the Japanese price into US dollars. I don't think that Nintendo does direct yen-dollar conversions when pricing products though. I think that $249 to $279 is more likely. By the way, a couple of GameStop employees said something about a Zelda game being bundled with the 3DS. I am assuming they were just confused and won't take it seriously but how cool would that be?
@ChicoEdge that'd be awesome! At my Gamestop they didn't even know about the pre-order yet so the manager had to take a while to figure it all out lol. And it was the day after Christmas so it was PACKED with people returning stuff and kids running around. It was chaos!
88 dollars down, a lot more to go. R.I.P. wallet

Meh, I don't think my gamestop will run out because it's in a mall that not many people go to. Besides, I only have like 100 dollars right now. xD

Well, preordering generally means that you'll be guaranteed an opportunity to buy a system on launch day. Remember the PS2 and Wii shortages?

What's the difference if you preorder it or not?
