  • My baby was watching this today, and I never once heard them call Jesus by his name. He was called "that baby."

"Ooo-ooh weee! What's up with that? What's up with that?"

  • this was a mockery of the Navtivity ... Jesus was not just a 'special teacher'. He was the Son of God.

  • @travelfoxxxx It's just simplifying it for the kids who may not know the reason behind Christmas

  • @MarshalGrover ... i disagree with you. BUT I truly appreciate you, for being respectful to me, in your response. Happy 2012!

  • i love this drama.Good job i play it on and on

  • @shayaantt227 well explicit

  • @travelfoxxxx The 3 wise muppets acknowledge him as king.

In the words of Cookie Monster, "That's good enough for me!"

  • @hopelesspyromantic they acknowledge him as King of what? nothing. But thanks for being respectful in your response to my comment. I am not a white angry protestant. i am actually a black pastor and it just seemed like they spent more time talking about the virtues of Kwanza, and said nothing about the Christ child. It was pretty bare bones and obscure. Well Happy 2012 to you!

  • 3:20 beast part

  • lmfao saw this on tv then decided to come to youtube and look it up and put it on facebook

  • they should have used meth chocolate cookies.

    that would have been funny

  • Wish Gladys The Cow was in this. When Jesus was born on Christmas Day the ox was one of the animals who came to see him and it would have been a lot more fun with her in the manjor scene.

  • Oh Natasha :)

  • This was the first one of these that I saw without Ernie in it. I guess if he had been, he would have played Joseph and Bert would have played Mary, just to humiliate Bert. It was sad not to see Ernie there, and it is probably because of Jim Henson's death. They could have used Steve Whitmire to voice Ernie in this one.

  • Poor Prairie...

  • He should've brought Myrrh cookies.

    Just sayin'.

  • check out 3:56

  • "cookies, cookies oh cookie monster you were suppost to bring murr!" "Oh well uhh me guess you cook me these. numnumnumnum oh cookie numnumnumnumnum (slirping)"

  • Where was this, & what was the topic of Elm's World?

  • I love this, it honors Jesus of Nazareth the person, without being religious at all

  • Aw Cookie Monster, Monster Jesus, and allergic Bert.

  • They showed Hanaka and Muslim stuff and all around the world.

  • This is hysterical!

  • XD LOL I love the cookie monster part!

  • Apparently Herry has a cold too. What's up with his voice?

  • that's nothing. Listen to him on the song "Tying Your Shoelace".

  • "I'm getting a migrane."

I've been hearing too much of that lately.

  • It was okay, it's not as good as the pageants from the 1970s and 1980s. They were much funnier.

  • This is awesome.

  • I have a couple of random questions (Which no one has suppose to answer, but, If someone wants to try) about this:

1- Why Bert didn't tell about his Allergic to hey? Ernie tell to him the hey is going to be plastic?

2- Why they didn't asked for Ernestine instead of Natasha? I'm totally sure she will keep glued to Bert all the time!

3- Are Blue Monsters some sort of Special Breed? They have songs and now they are Wise Men!

Anyway, thanks for upload this ^^!

  • But Bert wasn't supposed to sneeze at the play.

Actually, he was allergic to a bunch of hay.

  • This is why Sesame Street should be enjoyed by all people, young and young-at-heart.

  • A Migraine means a Headache at 4:14-18 because Cookie isn't a Myrrh monster.

  • I guess that makes sense, indianamerican10.

  • That's what Prarie Dawn, the pageant master, said.

  • Okay, thank you for the info.

  • Thank you for sharing. It was so touching seeing the characters I loved as a child talk about the birth of Jesus. :)

  • Merry Christmas to you,MarshalGrover and a happy new year.

  • Merry Christmas MarshalGrover! Love the video.

  • This took me by surprise when I first saw this years ago that Sesame Street would talk about Christmas as the birth of Baby Jesus... I know they try to be politically correct these days, it always seems considered bad taste to talk about religion like that since so many people aren't religious anymore these days.

But kudos to Sesame Street for telling it like it is!

  • SW/CTW have been know for making gutsy decisions. Just look at 75% of the first season!

  • Too true, too true, and this was a really gutsy move on their part... I bet they probably got a few letters from upset parents because they mentioned Christmas as Christ's birthday.

Shame, though, that they can't really find a smart, good-hearted way to tackle the issue of divorce.

  • What about that sketch with Kermit and the bird that lived in two trees?

  • But the bird didn't say her parents were divorced (they could've very well just have been separated).

They tried to do an entire street storyline revolving around Snuffy and Alice having to put up with their parents getting divorced, but apparently it upset all the kids that serve as their focus group/research team, so they shelved it. Head writer Lou Berger said it's one of several issues they can't address without upsetting the children who are watching.

  • @GroverKent: Right. They CAN'T mention divorce BY NAME, but they CAN say that a kid could live with one parent or that a kid could live with two parents, thereby mentioning divorce or the possibility of parents with a different orientation WITHOUT actually going into detail and upsetting either the kids or their parents (divorce is a sensitive subject which the parents might want to discuss with the kids first and orientation is a touchy subject for a traditionally-minded program by proxy).

  • It may have been gutsy but it was a wise decision.

  • I'll say it was.

  • Those parents need to SHUT THEIR MOUTHS!!

  • Merry Christmas! I'd never seen this before, it's a true reminder of the real reason for the season.

  • Merry Christmas to all!

  • Thanks for posting this! When I was little, this was the first video where I saw Zoe in her tutu. Merry Christmas to you, MarshalGrover!
