  • Wow, thank you so much! I didn't understand why my images were supposedly the same inches but all printed in different sized. Thank you!

  • Ive searched.. how resize image in cs3 .. and iv watched the top 8-9 videos already..NONE of them are resize image.. they are all reducing image size only... geepers

  • how do i print a A4 size print without having white lines at the bottom and sides

  • brill video, thanks

  • Great information.....can you help with resizing to a custom size of 11x14?

  • Would have to agree about the music.

    It's really not needed.

    Matt

  • Thank you so much.

    Simple, effective advice that works.

    Love it!

    Matt

  • @amattcork1 Thanks Matt, I appreciate that.

  • Thanks for this video. It helped me a lot!

  • Or you can resize it to say 6-1/8 X 2-5/8?? LOL No one does tutorials of custom sizes only for pre set photo sizes. Have you any idea how to incorporate the dimensions I am shooting for?

  • @8MCDonalds8 To be honest I am not sure, but I can take a look and see. It would stand to reason that it can be done, I just need to revisit that. Sorry I don't have an immediate answer.

  • @lowbar77 Well I tried more research and got very close to what I need but if you can get exacts that would be great!!

  • I was able to size my image to 8x12 but when I tried changing that to 8x10 it doesn't work . When I deselect some of the options it creates a distorted image . any help

  • @MrMengaTV Did you get your situation figured out? I apologize, I got very busy and this slipped by me.

  • @lowbar77 yes, the video helped a lot . Thanks

  • A really great learning tutorial. You make it so simple to do. Thanks heaps. Rob.

  • @aussiegoosebumps Thanks, it is nice to know that this has helped people understand what is going on. I am glad you found this useful. Thanks.

  • Most appreciated!

  • @mrssnowy I am glad that you found it useful. Thanks for stopping by.

  • The music is really annoying sorry...

  • @FLAMEBOY98765 Maybe i should have done closed captioning so that the audio could be turned off. sorry about that. I was just trying to keep it from being too dry and boring.

  • Thanks Tim, this made it so simple, fantastic tutorial.

  • @SirFrancisFoley I am glad that this has been useful for other people. Sometimes it is nice a person can share what they know with other people and save them time and energy.

  • This is a straightforward video that clearly spells out the process in simple steps. Two things I would add are:

1.) Viewers should be made aware of the hazards -- when it comes to image quality -- of resampling upwards. I realize that, in this example, you are downsampling and ridding the image of superfluous pixels, thus, do image quality loss will occur.

2.) Image resolution (or pixel depth) is actually measured in pixels per inch or ppi. Print resolution is measured in dots per inch, or dpi.

  • @namdra Great points. I learned something today that I did not know. Thanks for your comment namdra!

  • Thank you so much.. Ive been searching and searching for days ..until I came to this tutorial..which is by far the best.....everything else seems way to complecated to me..I will continue on my hunt...however your willingness to help is amazing..and I cant think you enough for this video..and any other information you can pass along!!!

  • @tammyandbarry

I did a very short, off the cuff video trying to explain some of the issues. See if this helps. Let me know if I missed the mark completely. The name of the video is Resizing images Continued.

    Thanks,

    Tim

  • @tammyandbarry No problems. I am just sorry that I can't get to it sooner.

  • Thank you for your very quick responce! I very much appreciate it..Im still not sure I understand... Ive looked at several tutorials...and no one explains this,..with CS4 it seems simple enough..but with elements 8 (which is what I have), I cant seem to find my answers..you came the closest and you explained this perfectly.

I have a small wedding shoot this weekend and will be doing a cd of 5'7 prints and 8'10 and im stuck...any videw tutorial would be amazing....

thank u so much for ur info

  • @tammyandbarry Ok, I will see if I can throw something together. I am out of town this weekend, but will try when I get back. I do not use Elements 8 (don't even have it) but I do have Elements 4. I believe that they work very similar. If we find your answer in Elements 4, we should be able to figure it out for Elements 8. I commend you on trying to figure this out beforehand.

    Thanks again for contacting me.

  • This was very helpful..

however I do have a question ...after cropping and going to resize the image to add the new document size, I then realized that the pixels were still at 72 but I wanted to change it to 300 pixels/inch without changing the pixel dimensions...so I unchecked resample image to add 300 into the resolution box ..then the new document size changed...Im using elements 8.....so how do I make 5'7 and 8'10 pics with a 300 pixels/inch...without chaning the pix. dimen..

    xx

  • @tammyandbarry This was a difficult concept for me to get my head around. The best way is to realize that you have a fixed number of dots (pixels) on your image. The closer they are together, the better the picture. The first step is to get the resolution up to 300 pixels/inch. The physical dimensions(document size) will change because you are pushing the pixels together. (See next response for more....)

  • @tammyandbarry (continued) When you uncheck the resample image checkbox, you are telling elements that you do not want it to throw any pixels away. After changing the resolution to 300 pixels/inch, check the resample image checkbox to maintain that resolution, let elements adjust the resolution, giving you the image size (document size) you want without throwing any pixels away. You could also define a pixels width and height at this point if you wanted to as well.

  • @tammyandbarry Let me know if this is unclear and I will do a video response to help make it more understandable. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch my video and ask a question.

  • Jakebe2 - I am glad that you found this useful. I plan to do more of these as I get more ideas from others. If you have other questions, let me know and I will put more together as I get requests.

    Have a great day!

  • That really helped me. Thanks a lot!

  • Great tutorial! The best explanation of this topic that I have ever seen.

  • @TheCatsailor3 Thanks so much for the compliment. This tutorial comes out of my own struggle with trying to remember how to do this. I am glad that you found it useful. Let me know if you have other topics that you have questions on - I am always looking for great ideas for tutorials. Thanks

  • Great Tuto! Thank you Sir!

  • I am glad that you found it helpful. I just know that this is one of those things that many people struggle with, as I did, so I am glad to be able to save people some time and heartache.

    Have a great day!

    Tim

  • Just what I was looking for! Great explanation and video. Thanks!!

  • @tejaesart I am glad that it helped. There is nothing worse than trying to do something and not understanding what is happening. Have a great Christmas!
