I keep thinking to myself that the axe kick would be an interesting thing to see in MMA, but then I realize that it's really very easily countered by a takedown. This is why high kicks are seldomly seen in MMA. I wonder how well Andy would've done in Pride or UFC.
both players have written history in this sport...the only difference is that andy hug belong to history now....if you ask my opinion....I prefer andy hug.....
@terrorsquadlith He has a habit of getting caught like that. His only loss on knockout ever was when he barged forward hands against against Sem Schilt. The result was an already murderous jab multiplied by Sefo's own charging speed that when it impacted looked like Sefo was going to die on the spot.
Pretty silly if you realise such things can cut entire careers short both from neurological damage and unnecessary losses.
Andy was one of the few guys who gave Ray a beating when Ray was still in his prime (today, Ray is no longer in his prime... he got a bit too heavy and isn't as fast as he was back then, like here)
Oh, and Andy rocked - for a guy who was rather small, he has a POWERFUL left leg and solid boxing.

shur. Andy was a national hero of Switzerland. He was a great guy and died of some mysterious disease in his 30s. He was also mourned in Japan, where he also loved.
Sometimes it's relevant to talk attitude. Sefo's tendency to drop his guard and smile or grin can be suicidal.
If you misjudge being outside someone's reach, they can place a fist or kick. Take myself for example. I'm fairly tall, tall legs too. A small step forward and my highkick reaches like two metres out. If you're standing with your chin up grinning while that happens, it's ouch time. That's why it's dangerous.
But what's that what Hug does at 2:45? A head-pogo-kick-evasion thingie? ;-)
ray sefo in his prime was one hell of a fighter but he came up against a legend in andy hug is by far one of the best in world and it showed when he destroyed ray sefo which wasnt an easy beat showed how good andy hug is!
sefo is a legendary fighter with style, power and xtreme skills...but he has to retire..its enthough.andy comes to remind us his samurai spirit...k 1 power....grecce

Erm no not the axe kick but of course spinning back kick. Its a move in every kick style martial art.
Never been a fan of the Axe kick though.
