Although the Bluetooth connectivity for doing tethering with my phone did not work, it does not see as a input connection, I suspect the KDE Network Manager. Because on Gnome it worked on Ubuntu but it did not on Kubuntu (KDE).
I installed openSUSE 11.2 using a USB Pendrive Linux on my two netbooks Asus EeePC 1005HA 2GB RAM 160GB HDD and one Acer Aspire One 1GB RAM 160GB HDD and on both is a rock solid.System Operating. Everything working out of the box. After using (K)Ubuntu 9.10 there is no turning back. Neither Mac OS X Snow Leopar nor Windows 7 are for me. ;-)
I stay to openSUSE 11.1 it's more than fine for me. It runs very fast in a machine I have (P4 3GHz, 3 Gb ram, Nvidia 6800, and SATA 300 Gb). Wen surfing is more than enjoyable, and may be this is due to the TCP IP stack is original in Linux (where in Windows was a port from BSD as Linux users say). openSUSE recognised all the hardware (it's an older ASUS Premium). The only problem came after Adobe upgraded to flash 10. As soon as I got the upgrade, flash videos got faster but no sound! I tried
I tried to downgrade the flash by removing two elements from a repository, and manually installed flash 9's library to the browser's plugin folder. I had sound again, but as soon after the reboot, sound on flash videos went mute again. I searched in forum(s) and I discovered that many other Linux users reported the same problem with flash 10. They say that the problem comes from ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture), and something with OSS / nonOSS (Open Sound System). For the time being I'm
enough confused of what can I do to solve the problem. I'm sad because while flash 10 is faster than 9 in Linux, I need the sound because I watch You Tube documentaries continuously. Flash 10 cause me troubles in Windows XP. Browser windows started to stuck. I removed 10 and came back to 9 in Win XP too and everything is ok. I think Adobe should do something for the situation, or experienced Linux users to open a page and present a solution so we can solve the problem.
@Isleif0 Going to switch to openSUSE aswell, can you tell me if the Wifi worked out of the box aswell ? Last time i had hard time getting my wifi to work.
Yeah 11.2 is way too slow on Virtual Box... It is not the RAM. I had ubuntu and other OS on the Box and they worked fine. Some kind of bug in 11.2..I even divided the ram for 1 GB each.
Then maybe you have to reduce brightness manually by the TFT's controls. Indeed ATI drivers are not as good, I didn't had the results I expected from a PC with ATI 3850, while an older one with an Nvidia 6800, the performance was superior. Of course this card is not even comparable with the ATI 3850 which is far away front of.
That isn't a linux thing. Most distro's are set up create a swapfile.
openSUSE creates partition by default, root (/), home (/home/) and a swap partition.
However! During the installation you're given the choice to customize it and you can set it up so that uses a single partition.
@lukic04 who posted this video, It's slow because you're using a LiveCD, where everything has been squeezed onto using LMZA compression. Install it and it should near as fast as your Kubuntu (RAM allowing).
Cisto zato sto mi ranije na nekoj prosloj verziji Kubunta nije lepo radio. Sad ga nisam ni probao, odmah sam instalirao gtk-recordmydesktop. Evo da sacekam jos jedan dan da izadje Kubuntu 9.10 pa cu ga na njemu probati.
nice setup it stands out, looks impressive

My installation was for KDE rather than Gnome.

okay, nowadays you don't NEED a swap-partition, but programs work better with that.
