  • Slow computer, double post. Sorry Basically it would be nice to see him bring more edge to his Jazz ballads, and more sophistication and adventurousness to the rhythm section of his Hip Hop/ Rock project. It's been needing to happen, and he seems capable of pulling it off.

  • What would really make me happy is if he could get some more adventurous stuff going on with the guitar and bassist. With the riff based stuff, it really limits what he can do harmonically with a solo. He still blows hot- even if it is limited by the form and passing through an effect pedal. I've heard his "strait" jazz material, and the post bop stuff he does is incredible- an insanely creative and inventive soloist. The ballads are flat and cheesy though mostly cause of the comping.

  • g8 trumpeteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • So killin...keep doin you..

  • this song is killing

  • Honestly, man, you're such a snob. You're only cheating yourself out of enjoying things like this, and I'm sure Maurice doesn't feel like he's wasting his time or selling out. He and his audience are happy as shit when he plays, and that, whether it be through Respighi, Clifford Brown or the Beatles is I believe the goal of the arts. If not happiness, some other sort of deep emotion. In short, this music, the people who play it, listen to it, etc., do not need your ill-considered approval.

  • Excuse me listen to Miles Davis Doo Bop, he is the one who started the hip hop movement. Know your facts and stop trying to be an asshole, bro

  • Just because Miles put his name on it doesnt make it legitmate. He had to just to try and make some freaking money. Everyone has turned their backs on the MUSIC...

Look, this is an opinion page. I am FREE to express my opinions. Doesnt make me right or wrong, just my opinion.

  • that honestly is you just rambling shit out of your mouth, he was a musician about change, if you were to say someone would role out in their grave don't mention someone who actually had something to do with the music, before your write "your opinion" you should know your music history when you start mentioning the legends, if you are gonna mention a legend mention people like wynton who dispises this type of music, because he is a purest, but anyway this shit sounds tight as hell.

  • NB its an opinion and its mine. Get over it. While you are obviously the most all knowing formeost authority on jazz I still must disagree with you. It is SHIT.

  • you are a fucking idiot, i was making the point that you have no idea what your talking about when it comes to history, not your opinion of the music.

  • You obviously have lots of experience at being a "fucking idiot". Dude, get a life. Go read someone elses comments you dont like. Its clear you dont agree with me. No reason to sit here and call each other names. Have some class man. By the way, this "music" SUCKS!

  • fuck that you lost the argument cause all you can say the music sucks. so go fuck off faggot

  • I agree with you man. This is a opinion site well as you are always free to express your feelings. BUT this music is not what miles was playing. He's syle of music was different. I like straight up pure jazz like Four, Straight No Chaser, Round midnight, shit like that, but this music doesn't suck. In my opinion no music sucks. I'm black and I like, rap/hip hop, a lil rock, and jazz. I like it all. Music has many faces

  • this is probally the hottest shit ive heard in a while just wish this was availabe to download cause i want this on my ipod this is revolutionising musick

  • Straight killed it. Big up Ms. Benjamin on the Sax

  • anyone know what kind of effect he is using??

  • oh fuck yeah!

This is what my best dreams sound like.

  • This is REAL MUSIC here! It can't even be categorized. Did you hear the ROCK vibes, REGGAE rythms, JAZZ, FUNK, AND SOUL! Maurice is in the forefront of a new renaissance be it Harlem, Chicago, New Orleans or abroad. Everyone is in agreement that he is making history with his music and he deserves every acclaimation he is to recieve.

    LOVE THESE GUYS!

  • I wouls suggest to Maurice to dress differently, just to stand out of the crowd. He dresses as expected in jazz world and at the same time tries to rap. How about to put some street rap clothes? It would be unexpected appearance for an audience. Basquiat stayed out of the crowed just being dressed in expensive suit and wearing no shoes. How about to be creative in appearance on a stage?

  • Where is it Bowery Poetry Club? I went to see Maurice today at Tompkins Square. He opened the 15th jazz festivaldevoted to Charlie Parker. I liked his performance and I want to get to his concert again. Thanks.

  • Maurice and his band Soul'd U Out will be at Bowery Poetry Club on Saturday October 13 at 11:30. Bowery is at 308 Bowery a block up from E. Houston in the East Village.
