@irrationalluv08 I'm American and I have some really good Nigerian friends, and you are right. I hear it at all of their parties and that is what got me curious about Brenda Fassie. Learning her life story and her tragic death was like a journey. I listen to this song over and over and over again.
This song reminds me of my times in Ethiopia where I lived. They played this song much. Glad to have found it. It's now in my favorite list. Thank you for the post.
I am a Nigerian but l currently reside in the USA and l must say that dis song is one of the BEST songs out of Africa. Brenda Fassie is a real African Queen!!! Rest in everlasting peace soul sister!! God bless you!!!
Altho l don't really understand the words of the song, but it makes me feel good about being an African!!! Good job South Africa!!!!!
I never heard this song before I studied abroad in China. Many of the DJs in China's clubs are from Africa. I was in Nanjing when I heard it countless time (2004), but haven't heard it since I recently "captured" the song in Beijing (2011) using Soundhog on my iPhone. I am so happy to finally get reacquainted with this catchy tune. Brenda Fassie Rocks! In china, I saw this song has a group dance that goes with it. Now I just wish iTunes would sell it! Good times!
@rachelcharles2006 lol.... line one sounds greek totaly wrong including ur translation.Sorry bt one has 2 tell u.Let m knw if u need Xhosa lessons...bt u tried well done & for those that didn't get the msg they now got the glimpse of what the song is saying...:))
