hey great video! Has been a big help for me. But i have a question. Look i have this chord book and it shows D chord different than yours. Is my book wrong or did you just show that version of D for a purpose?
@AnthonyKiedisAK The finger positioning may be different but it's still a D chord. Which fingers to use depends on how comfortable you are using them. Remember! It's not just how easy it is to play the chord alone but also how easy it is to shift to another from that positioning.
@MissFruityBeauty The difference between any major and minor is that the third note of the scale is flatted. For example, the notes for E major are E-G#-B. An E minor chord would be E-G-B. One more, an A major chord is A-C#-E and an A minor chord is A-C-E. And it's based off of their respective scale, like E or A.
I think demo'n the b chords which are the hardest, would also help everyone. everyone needs to know all the chords and progressions plus all the scales for the type of music they want to play. There are many many. But then again, Hank Williams never used more than five and look how many songs He wrote. You teach very well, keep at it. Not every guitarist can teach.
@SHADOWMAN296 no you don't need to know all the chords and progressions for whatever style music you want to play....look at Green Day...The Go-Go's...3-4 chord songs is all they use, and look how big they got? It's amazing what you can do with 3 chords....
i was just going to comment about how i didnt like the speed of lesson videos like these because i've played for about 2 years now but this man just taught me how to make a more comfortable A shape and it's more efficient this way. kudos
go and see google and search for - guitar manual blog and see the first result, good lessons and free download of ebook chapter 1. good luck everyone , keep playing
This Video changed the way I play an A for a very good reason. These changes are great. I've been playing for a few months now and this really is a neat and valuable lesson for the beginner.
Thanks for posting this. Are there any others with a string relationship????
cheers richdadfan...... im a beginner and although i thougt i was going along nicely ....following your instructions .......i can play more fluidly ...result thanx a lot................
well, I am a really new guitar player (well can't even play yet) but I did learn here today! Very good instructions for us newbies! First time I was able to actually play chords and understand them! Thanks! Prm
@KsEngage292 nope! there are a lot of different fingerings for each chord. as long as your hitting all the notes it doesn't matter which finger you use for what note :)
No, it is not bad. I had never thought to finger an A chord like this, but it makes going to the E chord easier. My own opinion is that you should finger chords in the orthodox way illustrated in books because it makes it easier for the other players in the band to recognize what chords you're playing. It really helps if they don't know the song and are trying to follow by looking at your hands.
Thats fucking True For all the people that say its wrong u suck and so on to the people taking time to teach go snort some comet and blow it out your ass and mostly those people have no videos up to show how they play
This same principle can be applied to a lot of chord sequences if you look for them. No need to pick up all of your fingers for each chord change, and your changes will be much smoother sounding.
i had to stop that video the third time u said space. Its called a fret you moron. if you said that to make it simpler for new learners those people who dont know what a fret is shouldnt be playing yet. no person that doesnt know what a fret is should handle a guitar, learn what it is and the parts of it first
Depending on what progression you're using, it can be an excellent way to play the A. Economics of movement. Not only the A, but G, Em, C and others can be played diffently (in the same form), to make transitions smoother.
I don't know why everyone is bashing this guy for trying to help people out? OMG, not everyone out there is a guitar prodigy. After looking at the comments on these guitar lesson video's you would think that everyone knew how to play perfectly straight from their moms womb. And besides if all of you know how to play so well, why are you looking at beginner chord lessons anyways?
by the way hes talking crap first of all it takes PRACTICE to switch chords quickly.... also hes got this wierd video for people who use the EXACT same tecniuque as him.... wat i mean is he puts his first finger on the 2nd string 2nd fret 2 finger on the 4th string
