@rich6955 I've had it for 3 years now, daily user on my PC. Don't know the exact date as they made this receiver from 1968 - 1971 I believe. I will assume 1968 here. It has been fully restored with new capacitors, etc.
Cool, I'm actually thinking of coupling a rooftop directional yagi FM antenna and "X"- loop omni-directional antenna together to see what I can get on my 1975 Fisher console tuner/ 8 track. Still sounds like you get good reception without the directional antenna though. Nice set-up!
Dude, that song you're wondering about is "Love is Strange" by a group called "Caesar and Cleo," who would later use their real names - "Sonny & Cher."
I can say I've never heard that on the radio. Must be a pretty cool station.
That station you said you like is in Washington it's 95.3 WJPA i think it's called not so sure lol. But they play really good oldies especially on weekend nights
I'm about 60 miles from pittsburgh and i have a radio with double cassette player and it's really nice it's from the 80's , i have it in my garage but the antenna doesn't really work i tried making one with just wire but i'm still having trouble picking up stations. Did you make this antenna?
@Declipse16 This antenna is an omnidirectional FM antenna mounted in the attic with a 15dB amplifier on it. It came with the house and is about 38 years old or so.
When I was younger and I still lived at my mom's house I used the yagi antenna and rotator that was on her roof for FM reception on my Denon AVR-3600 receiver, I used to pick up new york, new hampshire and rhode island stations, and I'm in Massachusetts, the dial was so crowded that hitting seek would go a few points over and get a strong station! Definitely get a yagi and a rotator, they are well worth it!
dude, Radio Shack cat # 15-246 is SO worth getting for an AM/FM antenna.. I use one here, and having the phase dial brings in a LOT of FM stations.. AM, too.. with a signal splitter.. also.. use the 75-ohm connections with the rat-shack ant.. NOT a transformer... xD
@Sansui350A Unfortunately a pair of rabbit ears does not work in my location. And this was just a temp setup. I plan on using the 75 ohm terminals once I get setup.
@spatsbear2 hmm.. ears seem to work just about everywhere and for everyone I've recommended that antenna to.. the phase dial is what brings 'em in along with the 3 or ft ears that thing has on it.. xD ..it's worth the cost.. give 'er a go.. trust me.. and hey, if I'm wrong.. take the thing back.. best of luck.. and nice toy
whoa that thing really picks up a lot of stations now! I never seen that many stations on an FM tuner before.
Now I think I'm gonna use the aerial on the roof as an FM antenna when they shut off analogue TV next year! that is amasing, the number of stations you can pick up.
The name of that song you are asking about is called Love is Strange by Sylvia and Mickey that song was made back in the 1960s. The song that was playing on your song was a remake of the old one, but I don't know who that singer is that was playing on your stereo set.
The 1000X still looks nice and shiny :-) If you want to adjust the tuning meter sometime, I'll see if I have the service manual somewhere. I didn't have my signal generator at the time, or I would have tested that.
That station 96.9 sounds the same we have station 101.5 bob FM here in Ohio probably part of that company when I go to my local station website it is connoisseur media. The station used to be called 101.5 the river. The station is much better than it used to be they play more 80s early 90s music and sometimes older music from the 70s. The station used to be more 70s when it was 101.5 The River.

I've got a Sansui 4000 receiver and my FM signal meter never gets beyond 4 even on the strongest stations. Looks like it's working fine to me.

Oh man you will be happy when you put up a yagi antenna with a rotor.

@wilkes85 You can use it now actually. Just put a splitter on it. Or even add an amp if need be and run it to a receiver.

I'm jealous. I'd like to have the same type of attic antenna, but I just don't have the time to do it.

one of the spade lugs on you're converter is not even in the terminal:)
also why do you still listen to analog radio i left that in the dust when maine went to full digital:)
i love it
all the old stations in full digital you will love it when you get it :)
apctech1 1 year ago
@apctech1 Both spade lugs were in the terminal (?)
I will always use analog as it totally blows digital out of the water for sound quality, especially on vintage hifi equipment.
