I would actually argue that this movie is better than Princess Bride (although still definitely comparable and in the same genre), if only because, when you think about it, Wesley is kind of an ass who becomes a murderous pirate and doesn't even try to tell Buttercup he's still alive only to feel betrayed when it turns out she's engaged.
