This has never been patched.

You have to be non-host and you can ALSO 'switch' overshields with other equipment to deploy them- this can be very useful for strategical purposes and can ensure some funny moments when a mob of enemies rush you and you just take the overshields out of nowhere.

once you have picked up the overshield (or camo) you can depoly it whenever you want as long as there is some type of equipment next to you. so normally you would press X to deploy equipment, instead just pick up equipment and you got yourself full OV. Thats what I call custom powerup:)

For everyone who thinks that this is useless...

I use this all the time in team doubles, once you have overshield picked up, just camp around some loose equipment...once you are at low shield you swap your over shield for that equipment and you get a free heal + invinsbility for like 5 secs

if you didn't know this by now, you can make it appear at will by just trading equipment. i.e. do glitch above and then walk over a power drain, bubble shield, regen etc. and just pick it up. Then the OS will spawn and you pick it up while have the equipment ready to use.

It's not just good for dying and "scaring people"

If you camp next to a piece of equipment you can swap the overshield out for that and pick it up for temporary invincibility and, of course, and overshield. I've done it before on Narrows. I was T-Bagging on top of the bubble shield spawn right in the middle. two guys charged me and I swapped out, got the overshield, and got the easiest double kill ever.

It's mostly about cat-like reflexes (LOL PUNS ARE SO FUNNY!!11one), to be honest. Go into forge and just practice with an overshield or camo that spawns instantly. Just press B (Or RB for noobs that don't use bumper jumper) when you're literally inches from the overshield then quickly back away...It's hard, but you'll probably get it eventually.

The main way this can be useful is that when you pick up equipment you drop the overshield onto yourself and receive over-charge which is 5 seconds of invincibility. It is extremely funny to do in matchmaking.

This glitch can help the ball carrier on oddball. You get the oversheilds let them betray you but dont boot them and the ball carrier will have oversheilds.
