I can't imagine the detail it would take to create a whole, new language. What brilliance. And all his books and the details in those. Can't even begin to. I would have enjoyed meeting him. When did he have time for anything else? Like eating? lol I need to read this bio.
Jesus saves from the guilt of sin by faith in his shed blood. That is why he came to earth, to die on the cross for our sins so we could go to heaven through faith in his blood. Repent of your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart. Once you are saved from your sins, you are saved forever. Faith in Jesus is the only way to heaven. If you die in your sins you will burn in Hell and the Lake of Fire for all eternity. God bless.
I believe that a small minority of people in this world have handled power wonderfully. Power does not always corrupt. It takes a strong will, but some are perfectly capable of weilding power. It seems that Tolkein often advocates the idea that human beings simply cannot handle power. Correct me if I am wrong.
@TheDavid2222 Well, Tolkien does give examples of two characters at a time, there's a certain pattern. They both have a gift of same kind of power, but they use it either by gaining wisdom (right) or losing it (wrong).
Examples: Manwë and Melkor, Gandalf and Saruman, Galadriel and Fëanor, Théoden and Denethor, to name a few...
amazing yes, but didn't just flow. apparently he thought a lot about the words and their implications that made their way onto his typewriter, and he did many rewrites and revisions of the books. the whole mercy of bilbo was actually not included in the original version of the hobbit, but added when he was writing the lord of the rings.
I knew Tolkien was serious about his use of words. As a writer myself, I wonder where he got the patience for all those rewrites and word combination.
I bought a book on how to speak Elvish, oh, over 10 years ago and I really tried to learn and I accomplished a little bit. I was so excited just learning the calligraphy that Mr. Tolkien invented and there is a logic in the language itself. Damn, I'm trying to remember the three different languages spoken for the different tribes(?) of elves-dark, light, *?*
@Higgins380 one of my favorite sentences of Tolkien my friends and i made a habit of saying it when meeting each other :) and believe me it does add a feeling of blessing and peace between us so that all our meetings are truly fun
@joshua4469 prove that one thing you just said is true. Until then, it doesnt matter how many times you say that.

that's some very interesting fact there.
I knew Tolkien was serious about his use of words. As a writer myself, I wonder where he got the patience for all those rewrites and word combination.
Thanks for the info!

That guy that is commenting at the beginning of this video is obnoxious. But the other half is interesting.

The man is Humphry Carpenter, author of Tolkien's biography, of a book on the Inklings and editor of his letters.
He died three years ago at the age of 58.
