@topperrrr86 The scene before Raiden and Solidus fight was intended to be a lot longer. Arsenal Gear was originally shown plowing through New York, but was scrapped due to the 9/11 attack. Konami was afraid it would offend a lot of people. Personally I'd love to see the original ending, but I hear it was never 100% finished and was trashed.
@badkiller2 You do know the more cores in a processor doesn't necessarily make it better, right? You need to take the other specs of a processor into account, like its speed and cache size.
And what do you mean by 30 GB for a game? Hard drive space? Most PS3 games use blu ray media, which can hold up to 25 GB. So they're not all that different.

It's not that I *can't* grasp it; the story is so poorly written, acting so terrible, dialogue so corny and cut-scenes so long that it makes me *not want* to grasp the storyline. Then there's the bad play-control and the fact that Snake can do things in cut-scenes that I can't do in game (search: Solid Snake vs Gray Fox)

MGS1 came out on the ps1 in 98, that wasn't the beginning of the story.. neither was MGS2.. after playing this game you should be curious about how it all started, not write it off

This is probably going to get me some e-hatemail from hyper-intellectuals who have bought into the whole Hideo Kojima hype train, but the ending of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty is the most insane, nonsensical thing I've ever seen. A swordfight with the President of the United States who is also your clone dad and has tentacles on top of "Federal Hall!"
I played this game the November after 9/11 and the game got way too real when they started showing the live shots. This is why I loved MGS2 the most out of all the games.
So when I first used the radar and had to input a name I chose the name Dave (which I later forgot about) so at the end of the game when Raiden throws his dogtags away and it said Dave I was like "Oh yeah because he was trained to be like Solid Snake so it says Dave" completely missing the point that it was supposed to be YOUR name and Raiden throwing the dogtags away is supposed to be symbolic, now that the game is over Raiden refuses to be under your control. Haha XD
Id like to point out that no one in the background is saying anything about the guy in the skin tight suit with the Katana on his back....Last time i had my Katana outside my house everyone panicked... Weird...

I think many people didn't like Raiden because of how the voice actor voiced him, which is a big deal. He makes Raiden sound weak and whiny, more so than if he had a stronger voice.
This game makes so much more sense after playing the MGS games that followed. I just got done replaying it tonight and I have such a better understanding than I did a few years ago.

It's because the Japanese version doesn't have any gender related pronouns (Japanese doesn't really use gender pronouns that often), so the American translators assumed that the kid was a he, as they didn't have anything to go by back then. A similar case happened with Dr. Clark/Para-Medic in Metal Gear Solid/The Twin Snakes, where Clark was identified as a "he."
I also forgot to add that, in my opinion, sons of liberty, and snake eater, are the two metal gear solid games that let you see maturity, feelings. These two metal gear solid games in particular are full of emotions and messages.
I loved (as a young guy, when it came out) and actually love metal gear solid 2, i played and finished it like 20 times, it's an awesome game, and the ending is beautiful

This wasn't the full ending, after the credits Otacon says that he decrypted the disc, and says one of them was one of their biggest contributors ( WHO????) but then Otacon says they're all dead, 100 years ago. Who were they and how were they operating 100 years later???
Wasn't there a scene after this where Rosemary and Raiden discuss their future together, as well as supply a hint that Rosemary was not on the operation to begin with?
It's also partially due to the fact that the Japanese language doesn't really use gender-specific pronouns, so Sunny being a "he" was a result of miscommunication.

No. I don't have a PS3 right now. I don't even have a 360. I'm still saving up for one or the other (still deciding lol), as both consoles are really good, and very close in terms of quality.
Although, I do have a Wii, but I haven't played it in months.

I don't think Outer Haven is supposed to be the same Arsenal Gear unit as the one that destroyed Manhattan. In fact, Roy Campbell's description of Outer Haven implies that it was in fact a different unit altogether (although definitely of the same model.)
Solidus says something at the end, right before he goes off the edge of the cliff. it's kinda hard to see on the small screen, but I can see his lips moving; what do you think he's saying?

Well, Van Der Waals Force was implied to be the reason behind his running up walls. However, there's still no explaination for his running on water, and especially not on his pinning people's shadows (not even Nanomachines would be a valid explaination.)
this ending still brings shivers down my spine. Its so well choreographed when Solidus looks up at the George Washington statue. I still cant believe how ahead of its time this game was. This is definitely one of my favorite endings to a game and to top it off, every time i watch it, i think discover new meanings to the philosophy Hideo Kojima was trying to convey.
this will always be my favourite game of all time, the story was perfect.

It's because the Japanese version doesn't have any gender related pronouns (Japanese doesn't really use gender pronouns that often), so the American translators assumed that the kid was a he, as they didn't have anything to go by back then. A similar case happened with Dr. Clark/Para-Medic in Metal Gear Solid/The Twin Snakes, where Clark was identified as a "he."

I also forgot to add that, in my opinion, sons of liberty, and snake eater, are the two metal gear solid games that let you see maturity, feelings. These two metal gear solid games in particular are full of emotions and messages.

I loved (as a young guy, when it came out) and actually love metal gear solid 2, i played and finished it like 20 times, it's an awesome game, and the ending is beautiful

This wasn't the full ending, after the credits Otacon says that he decrypted the disc, and says one of them was one of their biggest contributors ( WHO????) but then Otacon says they're all dead, 100 years ago. Who were they and how were they operating 100 years later???

It's also partially due to the fact that the Japanese language doesn't really use gender-specific pronouns, so Sunny being a "he" was a result of miscommunication.

Solidus wanted to liberate Manhatten, to lead an insurrection against the Patriots.
Liquid took over Arsenal, so he could trick Snake into infiltrating it, and inserting the virus, to destroy the Patriot's AI system.
I think. The plot can be pretty confusing (but still epic).

No. I don't have a PS3 right now. I don't even have a 360. I'm still saving up for one or the other (still deciding lol), as both consoles are really good, and very close in terms of quality.
Although, I do have a Wii, but I haven't played it in months.
I only have a PS2, SNES, and Sega Genesis.

I don't think Outer Haven is supposed to be the same Arsenal Gear unit as the one that destroyed Manhattan. In fact, Roy Campbell's description of Outer Haven implies that it was in fact a different unit altogether (although definitely of the same model.)

I never had a problem with this game being convoluted. Frankly, I love how everyone is pulling all sorts of their own double-crosses.
My only beef with the MGS2 story was that I never dug the long Codec presentation.
I would've much preferred subtle flashbacks or optional file-reading, etc.

Well, Van Der Waals Force was implied to be the reason behind his running up walls. However, there's still no explaination for his running on water, and especially not on his pinning people's shadows (not even Nanomachines would be a valid explaination.)

this ending still brings shivers down my spine. Its so well choreographed when Solidus looks up at the George Washington statue. I still cant believe how ahead of its time this game was. This is definitely one of my favorite endings to a game and to top it off, every time i watch it, i think discover new meanings to the philosophy Hideo Kojima was trying to convey.
