  • I wish Disney would stop buttraping EPCOT Center.

  • My fav:)

  • whats this song in the beginning? and can we get this on itunes?????

  • @ricefarmer88 - It is called Tomorrows Child; it is the original theme song for the ride. I do not know if it is on iTunes but I bet a google search would locate it.

  • @Fuffler Did they ever give a reason why they took it out?

  • Great Video!! When did they change it to the way it is now? I remember seeing this, because I remember seeing the part where they show Snow White. i was very little so that is one of the main things I remember. We went on vacation a week ago and I wanted to see that part, but they didn't have it.

  • I miss this version of Spaceship Earth...

  • I loved it when they played "Tomorrow's child" when the ride was ending. Plus, when they had miniture models of the space station with an astronaut towards the end. Great memories.

  • @dgh117 YES! That was one of my FAVORITE parts of the ride, when the ride vehicle turns backwards and you see the space station appear right above you! I miss that part of the ride. I wish there was a video that clearly showed that part. :(

  • @Fuffler - Thank you for sharing. The 'Irons' version was my favorite. I just love his narration style.

  • this version kept u entertained and, while it was corny, u got chills when Jeremy Irons and Walter Cronkite narrated it, and it made u feel magical and amazed - the newer one is trying TOO HARD to b all about computers with 'first back-up system' or 'global network' or 'remember ure abcs? thank the Phoenicians' - kids cant even say that word - there was no reason why they had to change the voice or change the tone - its not like it was too boring or too dark for kids

  • Thank you for keeping the original alive.

  • I love this ride. I've only been on it last year and the year before. I never knew there was a... "change" to the ride. Hmm. I am curious now. :/

  • my mum used to fall asleep on this ride lol

  • Hey I'm curious: do you still have the original footage from your camcorder? If so is it higher resolution then this video? Because if you could reupload it in higher quality that would be awesome.

  • @ 7:49 I found that very awesome,but I don't see that anymore. :'(

  • Disney has changed almost every ride. They used to be so much fun. I kind of thought it was cool to go on these rides and see the cheesy 70s clothes and hair on the characters. The worst is the new Pirates and new Small World rides in Disneyworld. Making the most popular ride (Pirates) since WDW opened into something completely different with Johnny Depp robots, etc. was a shame. Same with the ending to this.

  • exelente ride , si tienen la oportunidad de ir a epcot les sugiero que comienzen con este paseo....

  • technology has to stop somewhere... where can we go from here? Just how much more advanced can life get??? Iphones, IPads, internet everywhere.... we're done

  • Brings back such good memories.

  • Does anyone know who the narrator is? I liked the Walter Cronkite narration a lot better and was upset when they updated it :(

  • @mhirst16 - Jeremy Irons

  • makes me wonder what the chinese people were doing. who are we? clear that 'we' are europe.

  • makes ya wonder why we forget how to do telepathy over and over again across infinity.

  • If it ain't broke don't fix it Come on disney

  • Anyone going from June 13-21? If so, message me. I'm goin'. I didn't know Spaceship Earth was a ride, I just thought of it as an attraction.. :/ I can't remember if I went in it or not..

  • Just wondering ru, Have you seen the new version of this ride? I miss the old ending :( All of the people are just changed to Christmas lights that look like stars. :( The gutted the whole ending of the ride :(

  • @Badelves - - I have not seen it. I have heard it wasn't as good as it once was. Sad. This is one of my favorite rides.

  • @ru42 It's still good it's just the last portion isn't has good.

  • @ru42 Yeah you will be a bit upset. You might appreciate it for some of the changes made for the newer generation, but the whole nostalgic feeling and heartwarming ending is completely gone. You ride backwards in the dark while watching a video made by the choices you make in the beginning of the ride.

  • the Spaceship earth ride vehicle has a Touchscreen now.

  • i can`t stand the new ending.. 15:00 to the end was like the best part with all the lights and the city..no doubt the best part and they ditched it lol they gotta bring it back im goin for the 12th time in my 15 years this august and i wish it was like this when i go :/

  • What's the one ride where a monster from the future chases you? My sister Whent on the ride it sounds fun!

  • The ride is brilliant! One of the best rides to capture a picture of speech and communication throughout time! It leaves you with goose pimples!

  • Agreed, when you pass through the "Dark Ages". It really doesn bring you back.

  • Ahhh the memories of visiting Disneyworld as a child :)

  • Since the dawn of recorded time communication has revolutionized our lives and changed our world.

We now have the abillity and the responsibility to build new bridges of acceptance and cooperation between us, to create a better world for ourselves and our children

as we continue our amazing journey aboard

    Spaceship Earth!!

  • Simply a superb video.

  • I went on this ride back in Christmas '06! It was amazing! I loved it!

Too bad Walt himself could not see such a thing come into completion in his lifetime! Wonder what he would say?

  • Hi ru42! Ok! not a problem...I appreciate the response...have a great day...

  • Hey ru42 Great job with audio and video..Do you have the recent version uploaded too? thanks

  • @Motherboard46 - as of now I do not. I have not been back to Epcot since the change. Maybe someday!

  • luv tomorrow's child & all disney songs! & epcot! & spaceship earth! @ all of wdw & disneyland!

  • Thanks for posting this :-) "Tomorrow's Child" is a bonus too! I was there the day Epcot opened, and have been there 14 times!

  • I've only been to Disney World once, but I had to have ridden Spaceship Earth at least ten times during my weeklong stay. It was back in 2004, when Jeremy Irons was still the narrator. To say that it influenced my life would be a grave understatement.

I am planning on returning to DW later this year or next year, and while I will revisit Spaceship Earth and give the Judi Dench version a chance, it's not going to hold a candle to the one I grew up with.

  • The new version is fine and I like some of the additions, but some of Judy Dench's narration is a bit too 'on the nose', as they say. I just remember thinking, "Uhhh... isn't that obvious from the 3 Dimensional SCENE, we're watching?' And the cutesy, "Call it the world's first 'email'" shit for today's increasingly moronic population is a bit annoying as well. The Iron's version had a bit of poetry to it that the current version is severely lacking.

  • Great video and the audio is awesome. Thanks so much for posting and bringing back old memories. Good to hear Mr. Irons again.

  • "Like a grand and miraculous spaceship, our planet has sailed through the universe of time. And for a brief moment, we have been among its many passengers." That is such an amazing statement.

  • There's an elegance to this one that cannot be matched--the combination of the music and the narration of Jeremy Irons. I find it somewhat unfortunate they remodeled the attraction with the mindset of appealing to the children; I found the attraction to be just fine the way it was when I was a child. Still, it is a very educational experience in the development and importance of communication. And that's what matters.

  • 15:05 I got stuck in this bit for about 10 minutes, now I love the music that plays in that spot but after 10 minutes, yeah you can see my point

  • i love this ride....

maybe its cause my mom and dad teach communication and journalisim but still......

    its awesome......

  • DID YOU KNOW: That is a real play the animatronics are performing at 7:28

It is called "Oedipus Rex" and was written in 428 BC by Sophocles

  • Best Spaceship earth vid on youtube.

  • I have heard that the old is still behind the curtains. I cant tell. They will catch on, the next Spaceship Earth will be the best. Generation 5 Spaceship Earth will be just as special to me as Generation 3 because it will probably be a childhood memory for my future kids. I will not take them on Journey into Your imagination unless they change that ride inside out.

  • I could never get tired of this ride.. I am going to Disneyworld to celebrate my 48th birthday.. I've been in the new ride numerous times.. It's okay i guess, I miss the original ride...I get teary eyed when i see this version..Young or old i don't care how people react when i mention disneyworld.. IT's a great place.. There will never be another theme park in my lifetime..

  • @Motherboard46 have fun @ wdw happy bday

  • @svhwdwnut Thank you very much ..i do appreciate the sentiment.. I can't wait two more weeks..

  • Leonard Nimoy should narrate it!

  • Gah I miss the old ending soooo much. It was soo epic to finish the ride like this, not some lame interactive questionaire that gets old after the first couple times you use it :S. Even though the outro was kind of dated it was still amazing.

  • 14:51 on gives me chills everytime!!

  • Thank you for posting all your wonderful Disney shots. All very well done and a pleasure to watch. We are great Disney fans and enjoy taking a journey back, and thanks to your efforts it keeps our costs down ! Thank you :)

  • Spaceship Earth is one of my favorite rides in Disney. As a kid, I loved the old ending, and, as an adult, I love the new ending. It's funny though to hear people talking about how they don't like the new ending while people who have never seen the old ending have no issues with the new ending. I think it comes down to childhood nostalgia.

  • @del1000005 that is so true. I was there when they first opened spaceship earth in 1982.... I just went back today and everything is so so different. Even from the last time i was here in 2000 they still had walter cronkite narrating....

  • @del1000005 The ride is still a good ride. But it's not a GREAT ride, like it used to be. There's just something wrong with the narration. It feels like they made a joke of the ride... where instead of having serious, relate-able, and still interesting topics, they have Judi Dench Rambling on about her abcs. The finale challenged us to make a better future. The new one makes it seem like we've done all we can, and our future will be handed to us.

  • @Horizons5556 I tended to favor the old version myself. However, I just love Disney in general. I'm going in 2 weeks! Can't wait.

  • The new version is terrible. I know Disney World is geared towards children, but does that mean making everything cheeseball? The old ride was inspirational and almost even elegant. The new one seems a lot shorter and that video at the end is just pathetically rinky-dink. Blah

  • I don't like the new one as much as this classic original one. THIS WAS THE BEST!

  • I like the old one and the new one. The old on i enjoy but when the new one came in , i enjoyed it but the animation video was not amusing to me.

  • i love that burning rome smell

i am going to walk disney world in sept of 2011 for my 40th birthday i am so excited to go back

  • this version > New "updated" version

  • this ride was absolutely amzing :D

  • I love the new ending haha I almost wet myself laughing xD It's hilarious.

This old one wasn't very exciting

  • so coooolll

  • i was on this ride on the millennium (:

  • I've been on this! =)

  • King tut, Chariot, Paparus dude, News kid and worker to the left, radio station, book readers were all updated!!!

  • New Spaceship Earth rules!!! Hidden Mickey search: While you see the paint mixer, on the left you see white paint marks in the shape of a mickey!!!

  • Oi note to self... I should really watch the whole video before commenting! Old S.E. Is better but I like the ending and the exit way!!!

  • I really missed that old ride since they remodel inside of the ride. Thanks for putting it.

  • thank you so much! it was better before 2007!

  • This song is on the double CD set from Disney called "The happiest celebration on earth"....along with other songs from rides that are no longer in the parks. I listen to those CD's almost everyday.

  • me 2 i have it I listen to it when i'm doing housework

  • i can listen to that CD all day

  • I miss this. I want to go back to WDW so bad...

  • i went to EPCOT and loved Spaceship earth lets see..... 1996. Damn, long time ago!

can someone tell me where I can find this song? I used to own the CD but lost it years ago. I would like to replace.

    Thanks!

  • Like everyone else, I hate the new ending. It's such nonsense. I get goosebumps from watching video of the old compared to actually being in the new. The biggest changes of course, being the horrid new narration, and the even more horrid ending. I miss a few of the little things too, like the hologram chariot in the Rome scene. I always liked that little guy.

  • I COMPLETELY!!! agree w/ you. I cringe whenever i think about the new ending. i just miss the old one so much. i grew up with it.

    :(

  • I agree 100%! I miss the ghost chariot, the old narrator, and the pretty gleaming city and other scenes at the end also! Don't like this new ride nearly as much.

  • omg the new ending is so horrible :/ I almost cried when I rode it...They try to make everything for little kids now or something. When I was 5 years old I would ride this ride all the time and I loved it how it was. The corniness of the new thing is horrible :( Walt Disney would be disgusted

  • @NoodleIsM3t4l i say aera 51 stops hidding time travel and they go back and grab mr. disney so he can stop the madness!!!!!! He would be disgusted. everything there is so damn commercial makes me sick

  • @NoodleIsM3t4l If you thought this ending was bad. Check out Stitch's Great Escape people say that is worse.

  • @NoodleIsM3t4l

I know what you mean.. and I totally agree with you

  • @NoodleIsM3t4l You have to keep in mind, the old ride isn't predicting the future anymore, it's predicting the present ( we can communicate across the world, it's called the internet)

  • @NoodleIsM3t4l I agree. I rode this for the first time when I was 8 and was in awe at the ending with the orchestral score. I rode it again when I was 11 when it was still the same and still loved it. When I came back and rode it again in 2010 (Went to Disney 2 more years before that but never rode Spaceship Earth again), I was shocked (and upset) with the new changes. They've turned the sentimental and nostalgic feeling of the ending and turned it into a cartoonish "what if" ending...

  • i along with the rest of you was devastated when i heard that they essentially made this into an entirely new ride. my dad works for AT&T and we would always look forward to riding this (since the ride was sponsored by AT&T we would get "VIP" access). the last time i was at epcot was 2-3 years ago and I went on this ride three times in a row about 15 minutes before epcot closed. im glad i did after seeing the new version. it will live in my memory forever!

  • Great ride I love it but it's not the same know

  • This has been my favorite ride for years. I was completely devasted when I heard the new version. Luckily I had the old theme music on my mp3 player and played it while I descended back down. Nothing against Dame Judy Dench, but the ride has taken a turn in the wrong direction.

  • Jeremy Irons FTW

  • Rode it yesterday and now am crestfallen. It has been "updated" from a moving, human, deeply thoughtful ending to a vapid ephemeral laugh as folks see themsleves in the cartoons. Whee.

Seems another case of corporate stuffedsuits (as some folks here seem to be saying it is $iemens fault) not understanding true substance, and dumbing things down to a vapid and ephemeral laughvertisement.

    Sad.

Probably won't do any good, but I will be writing a letter to voice my displeasure.

  • I went to Epcot last night and I just noticed that the "Epcot" sign and Mickey's hand and wand on the ball is gone. Why'd they take those out?

  • Because the Mickey wand never belonged there in the first place. It wasn't there when the park opened in 82. It was just too big of a distraction from the beautiful architectural marvel that is Spaceship Earth.

  • @satcgal45 It was for what I believe a Disney's 20th Anniversery thing, Thank the lord it is gone!!! It was a distraction from spaceship earth.

  • I LOVE this ride!!!!!

  • wait they made changes to the ride? like what? last time i was on it was in 1999 so idk the changes.

  • The new ending is devastating.

  • well its Judi Dench doing the narration now, and i cant think of a better voice

  • I can.

    Jeremy Irons.

  • yeah, he's definitely a voice that matches this ride.

  • Comment removed

  • Amen! :)

  • I say all of the original formats of the ride be restored along with the recorded narration of Walter Cronkite and/or Jeremy Irons, seems that that's what most people are wanting.

  • I love the part at 7:04, how that character tilts his head like a dog as he's listening to that guy speaking :)

  • Thanks for ruining the best ride in the park, Disney. Jerks.

  • Yea, god forbid they update it

I worked there during the update-the response from guests was 90% positive

  • Updates are fine. "Fixing" something that isn't broken, is not, especially when the changes make it worse.

  • But it didnt make it worse-it got an overwhelmingly positve reception

  • Yes, a postitive reaction in the modern age of mediocrity. Millions of people today love rap, reality shows, and dime-a-dozen horror movies. They're all terrible, yet large numbers of stupid people enjoy them because people today just don't care about quality anymore.

And I doubt the "positive reaction" in the first place. Literally everyone I've spoken to has said that they hate it.

  • Strange, everyone i know liked it-and given that i worked right outside spaceship earth, i think id be the first they would vent too if they didnt like it

  • They NEED to change it back to this great song! it's still relevant! the subject matter is anyway...

  • To bad the voice is different know. This guy made this ride

  • yeah, both him and Walter Cronkite! :)

  • i totally thought Tomorrows Child was for Horizons. I miss thee olde Future World attractions!!! I love Epcot! I love your vidoes, too!!!

  • I loved it. Now, if you can just get the "burning Rome" smell to happen while I am watching on you tube.....

  • Smell-o-vision; now that would be cool!

  • @ru42 word on smell-o-vision!

  • i want to go back today. "tomorrow's child", i have to wait until january 2010 to return, but thanks for the great videos to keep me grounded until then!

  • I know, the best BBQ ribs ever!

  • @tly5352

I just got back from Disney. I always loved the smell of Rome burning. That smell has been removed from the World of Energy ride, though. I was so upset.

  • Jeremy Irons was a great narrator! The new voice just isnt that great...wish they wouldve kept Jeremy's voice at least whenever they changed it

  • Jeremy Irons FTW!!!

  • disney is the best thing that man created!!

  • Oooh the narrators voice is so great for this ride and kinda sexy

    Love it x

  • when i rode that my family got stuck for al least 7 minutes but still it was a pretty good ride and this ws in May 2006 When it happened

  • I went August, 2006 : )

    I'm sad they changed it : (

The soundtrack and feel of the way it was before was superb! I'm not fond of the ending on the new version.

  • Its okayy its still a great ride, and now they have a fun game for you to play on the way down

  • I cried when it got to 15:00. The song is so beautiful and it shows how promising the future can be. That's my favorite part of the ride, by far.

I rode this version over fifteen times and just a week ago and I rode it again and it was totally ruined. I had no idea that the ride was changed. I'm going to miss it forever. I am beyond sad about this. I feel betrayed.

    R.I.P. Spaceship Earth. October 1982-July 2007.

  • what's different about it?? it's been 20 years since I've been on it and Walter Cronkite was the narrator and as I understand, Jeremy Irons became the narrator later. I've been meaning to get a job down there and move from Michigan so that I can go to Epcot a lot more

  • Im sorry the new one is great but nothing beats this one.

  • I liked this ride alot even though I rode it once. It's really relaxing.

  • when I rode it as a kid, I also thought that, all the factors making the ride up made it very relaxing and educational at the same time, Walter Cronkite and Jeremy Irons were great narrators of this ride.

  • man the version with Jeremy Irons narating is so much more epic!

  • yeah, he has a great voice for narrating this ride. When I was young, I rode it when Walter Cronkite was the narrator and that was the main thing I remember from the experience of all things :)

  • this was florida rite

  • this is a great ride i just went to florida from june 20th to the 25th and i went to epoct ond went on spaceship earth and i just want to say great ride

  • i have been on spaceship earth a few times but the last time i was there it wasnt open because they were making changes. wut is so different about it? and why doesnt n e one like it? i just wanna know wut to expect.

  • I used to love this ride!! Watching this made me realize how horrible the new version is. They could at least add some visuals on the final descent when your supposed to be watching your "unique" future. It's all gutted out.

  • I'm glad I am not the only one who noticed. That used to be my family's favorite ride. Now it is all cartoon without substance.

  • whats this ride like coz im scared of rides and i dont no wha this ones like

  • its really slow and stuff so you could probly go on it

  • The last scene before the descent, where you see planet Earth, gave me chills, with that music. I'm not a great fan of the new score.

  • I've ridden the "new" version of SE, It is one of the most brilliant things to ever be created i think, it's just breathtaking.

  • I dont like the new one they ruined the descent or ending completely with a not even good cartoon, the old ending was much better plus I liked the music much better too, this version is 50x times better than the new one, sorry I don't agree with your statement Dabomb90210

  • they changed it?

  • More like sodomized it...They refurbished it back in 2007.

  • Yup, now they have a build your own future thingy

  • Yeah. One thing that's kinda cool is you can pick the language, so my family (well, my dad and I at least) listened to the whole thing in each language (English first, obviously, so we understood it) but other than that, the old one is so much better. I just like the way everything is in the old one.

  • I have yet to see the new version of SPE, but I have seen this and the previous incarnation. In my opinion, this one is by far the best, and has the best ending. It's nice and relaxing, the fiber optics set the best atmosphere to close out the ride.

  • Thank you so much for sharing and keeping this video on here. I love this version of the ride and am sad and disappointed that they changed it and took some of the really great parts of the ride out. I don't like the new changes, so watching your video is like visiting an old friend.

  • The audio on this video is EXCELLENT!

Meanwhile, is it weird that I would get turned on whilst riding this? lol I think it was Jeremy Irons's voice.

  • I really miss this version of Spaceship Earth... it was the best ever! Feels great to hear it again. Please don't ever take it down!

  • its the main part of the park that tells you its epcot so why would they take it down

  • I think Nicole meant it as in "don't take the video off of youtube."
