@MegaGayCunt he has extra weight added, and hes using explosive force to bring himself up = thats gonna produce growth....i think he knows what hes doing sir.
@paintballerx123 these blow pulldowns away, and when you've maxed out the machine it's kinda pointless. Give em a try there is a much better isolation on the lats
@justingrover It focuses more on the lats and less on the core, since you dont have to worry about your legs, also I find this much better for mind/muscle connection. At the end of the set I like to hold it at the bottom for a nice stretch
Great, I'll try these in my next workout routine. I've heard a lot positive things about this exercise. It is supposed to add more size and thickness to your back, instead of pull ups/chins where you can use momentum and swing.
For someone looking to build strength to do actual pullups/chin-ups, will this help to build my strength. Also, could this be a reasonable alternative when a program say's to do pull ups and/or chins?
Yes they are fantastic for pullups IMO. Just make sure you keep your chest up high when you do them otherwise the load will be too much on your biceps.
Watching you do them again, I think you are right. The angle forces more lower lat to work, instead of more rhomboid. I think it is more of a complete movement for back. I'm gonna try those today.
if pull yourself up like him for this exercise for example your using momentum, that is bad because your muscles arent being used fully :)

Do you think a big guy like him would be doing them if they were as good/better than chinups?

Jason, do you feel those work lats as well as hanging chins? That was super cool.

Personally I feel rack chins are one of the best lat exercises out there. I have a hard time just using my back on regular chins.
