  • I had a C64, kind of sucked and ended up turning it in for an Apple 2e which was more expensive but could do a lot more.

  • Man my parents never gave in to Commodore's scare tactics. They thought computers would ruin my education, I had to save up for one myself :D

  • @megamarsvin WOW.

  • Stop at 0:04 xd

  • i'm still waiting for my parents to buy me a Vic freakin 20 and i'm 38!

  • @xarealpersonx

Depends, Is your Commodore 64 running on Windows Vista ?

  • I was about the age of that baby when the C64 came out. And I was about that age when I started using it, too.

I think it cursed me. 27 years later all I do is mess around on computers all day.

  • If your child was in preschool when you saw this commercial and you waited until highschool to buy them a C64 they would be pissed, a C64 in 1996 lol

  • @HerecomestheCalavera CBM was bust by then so no one even bought Amiga 1200s any mre.

  • They chose a low army-rank name to reflect the low price.

  • "...only 595$"

  • god damn, i wish i could afford one of these, but i guess i need to make a HUGE loan of about 10 cents. Christ.

  • @BeeFittyTwooz Make a much larger loan: 120 USD. Pay it back ASAP though.

  • Looking back on commercials like this is always interesting since these days kids are holding mice and using touch screens before they pick up pencils.;-D

  • because it's a 64

  • @smantytorres Incorrect. A quick check of eBay shows that these things sell for a fair bit more than a dollar. These things are getting more collectable by the second.

  • The best computer ever.

  • In other words- buy this machine if you care about your children's future. You're a bad parent if you don't.

  • I bought one of those for my unborn fetus. Now I have the smartest fetus on the block.

  • What was that music that Commodore always used in their ads? I'm pretty sure it's Bach, but I don't know the name of the peice.

  • Comment removed

  • I was remembering "all about the Pentiums" by Weird al.

"You say your Commodore 64 is really Neat-o,

what kind of chip you got in there? A Dorrito?"

  • damn. great ad.

  • I feel soo sad for the creators of commodore it is now not being used

  • 0:04 He is so looking at porn.

  • @markcaetano What with his mother watching too?Thats some fucked up shit!

  • 0:04 makes me think how mothers devote the rest of their lives taking care of their children...

  • I'd say computer use should begin in the womb.

  • I am an actor and played the high school kid in the ad...I am now 42 msg me if you have any questions or work ideas.

  • did you really play that high school kid?

  • 0:04 - Looks like he's watching porn

  • I bet that kid at 0:17 uses 100$ bills as napkins now...

  • I learned to use a computer on the 64's successor, the Amiga, when I was three, so that is about right. But, everyone is different. I think that preschooler is probably an executive now.

  • load"*",8,1

  • Nice commercial. Wonder why they used this same music in so many C64 commercial... And please people if your video isn't really in high quality or high res PLEASE don't mention it in title

  • hahahaha what the fuck!even a baby can use it!

  • what could they possibly have done on those computers without internet, esp. youtube?

  • @Cmann600 Playing hardcore games that took 5 minutes to load.

  • @Cmann600

The internet existed when these machines were out.

Sure not like today, but it existed.

  • @Cmann600 are you really that dumb?! XD (youtube wasnt even thought up of back then)

  • @Robloxian182 i know youtube wasnt around back then thats exactly what i said... its only about 5 years old.

  • My mom must have seen this commercial as she bought me one in 1985!

  • the face on the screen at 0:19 scares me

  • Well, I put my son in front of an Amiga 500, and he is 16 months old. He really enjoys a good game of North and South and Supercars II... :oD

  • and people thought computers were gonna take over the world in this time =/

  • That baby in that video now must be well into his mid to late 20's.

  • you know who that baby is??? Chris Pirillo!

  • I like the song alot!

  • My little son is 13 months old. As soon as he's old enough he will be using my Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 and will be playing games together with me. A true legende never dies... :o)

  • And remember, Because it's a 64 it's powerful.

  • @xarealpersonx And it's got 8-bit. Get 8, or get 32!

  • @xarealpersonx ...after years... Mario 64, pilot wings 64... kart 64... mo**er f***er 64...

  • @xarealpersonx Power can be 20 million units sold worldwide and 50,000 games released! How does the first Nintendo compare with it's 500 games released for it?!

  • Is this a famous song? or was it written for the commercial?

  • Quite a classy commercial as far as lighting and understatement go.

  • I've always thought it suspect to plunge toddlers into computers before they can even read or appreciate kicking a ball around.

Anyway, many people still use Commodores for music today, as fully integrated studio composition and synth machines.

I do too. Paste this title into the Youtube bar: COMMODORE 64 "COOTY"

    Also Google in CONCEPT-SINGLE NET

  • well, you went a bit far there... no need of an old C64 in a modern studio whatsoever, unless you are sampling its sounds... i love those computers, dont get me wrong!

  • The high-schooler is now about the age of the first guy in the ad. :-(

  • @magicianspirit Yup, that's be me! :)

  • @magicianspirit each day we die a little more.

  • @magicianspirit hahaha well I am 31 years old, and I sued to play on a Commodore 64 really good stuff :)

  • Basic (TM) Junior

    That world be funny

  • That music that is being played I remember that mostly for the commodore 64 commercials.

    But what exactly is it?

I think it's a classical piece but not sure.

I have heard it in a lot of the software for the C64 and have even heard it in computer software of today. Anybody know what the name of this music is.. / who it's by?

  • Back Invention #13 by Bach Johann Sebastian.

  • yes yes a baby on a computer LOL!he becoming like charles manson after the 40 years

  • i put my baby in front of the computer too..
