I have seen all those videos many times over and they prove nothing to me. Parlour tricks and stunts that many well trained athletes can duplicate today. His hand speed was good, but the one inch punch was little more than a push. His physique while impressive looking on film could NEVER be maintained, as that level of bodyfat will result in catabolism if held for any length of time. He used diuretics to look like that on film. GSP does not walk around as lean as he is in a cage either.

That doesn't mean it's an effective art, because the only way to know that a martial art is effective is to put it to the test. Why do you think Muay Thai is the most practiced form of striking? Because it has been PROVEN to be effective. There are many arts that are utterly worthless in a real fight. Even Fedor wouldn't be Fedor if he trained in my BADASS FU now would he?

funny enough I did create a form of fighting with elbows and knees after reading from Bruce that those were most dangerous weapons. The martial arts including weaponry and gun shooting are many times put to the test in real situations and nobody is recording that.

Bruce's lack of success against Wong Man Jack are evidence enough to show that he was not the fighting machine he was made out to be. If he had that much trouble with WMJ, imagine how he would have fared against BJ Penn, GSP, Anderson Silva or God forbid, Fedor.

the "like water" comes many years after Wong Man Jack. I gonna try to find out but I think Bruce was 18/19 yo when that fight happpened. His realization of how weak his legs were and how bad his cardio was and that the best way to punch is the american boxing way and that you have to be in constant movement "the like water" is all in his journals. because he did accept the mistakes of his first martial art and fixed them and fixed his physique made him the superior fighter.

I have researched Bruce, and the only info regarding any real/competitive fights he was in are amature boxing in Hong Kong (which is like saying you sing opera in Anchorage Alaska) and a fight with wong Jack Man in which the unbiased records say that Lee did not fare well in the fight, fought dirty and was unhappy with his own performance. He did have some very good philosophies regarding being able to fight in all areas, i.e standing, takedowns and on the ground. That's about all you can say.

No matter how good we think someone is they are unproven in combat because as my instructor says: "Everything changes when you get punched in the face".
