@etagweyo You should get a hostname after signing up to a hosting website. They provide you with one. Usually you end up getting one once you sign up for a domain name. If you still can't find it when logged in to your hosting account then I recommend phoning up support. Also I am not very familiar with Dreamweaver so I recommend Googling however I believe if you have all your webpages all you need to do is drag them into the browser in Filezilla.
@N30nTuTorials When you make a website in Dreamweaver and save it you get a .html file. Use Filezilla(software used in video) to connect to your website's ip address and then to upload go it to the proper folder(all websites usually have a certain folder to upload) and upload the .html file there. If you haven't noticed that is why some websites have .html at the end of there address.
@diablo9333 I'm not sure why he said that? I'm new to FTP's, but it seems to be working well for me, much better than leechftp that's for sure. But I'm an FTP noob, those are the only two I've used :)
Thanks for the video BTW that got me up and running in minutes :) Very quick and to the point, just awesome!
I was getting frustrated looking at all the settings in FileZilla, wondering why there was no option to create an FTP, I didn't realize there was separate server program for that LOL
@diablo9333 Well yeah the mic wasn't the best, but you still did a great tutorial :) Some people will make a 10 minute video and drag things on. I like quick style tutorials like yours.
I was wondering though. How do I access my FTP from a computer that's not on my home network, say at a friends house or something? I don't use 127.0.0.1 in the web browser do I? Sorry I'm a newbie when it comes to FTP's
@ghostmarine1000 I'm pretty new to FTP clients, Could you suggest a better FTP client for me? I tried leech FTP and found that it sucks, poor layout and low on features. Filezilla seems to be way better, more features, better layout, fast transfers, but if you have another suggestion I'd love to hear it.
@ghostmarine1000 Because why can't there be a text box to put in your ip , and port and then a button to run , why so many damb buttons and settings , surely there is something out there that doesn't need all these details when you want some one from the outside world to access your pc.
When I try to connect...(DID EXACTLY THE SAME SAME SAME AS YOU DID!!!) ... It comes "Connecting to server"...then "Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds"...then "Error: Connection to server lost..."...then "Reconnecting to server"...then the saaaammmeee the whole time...why can't I connect?
can i put my ipv6 (from the internet) adress so i want to go onto my ftp server at school

how i do find my ftp host address.....help
etagweyo 5 months ago
@etagweyo Start > Run (if on XP or 2000) or Start and search CMD.exe and type in "ipconfig"
the one ending with a number like 1-20 will be ur IP address.
Also, you can only connect to your FTP "server" if you connected to the same router.

@N30nTuTorials lol you don't use dreamweaver. You save it as html and then you use filezilla to upload it tto your site.

@ghostmarine1000 you need these settings for it to work. Once you have the settings you should have them forever so there is no worries.
