  • I remember seeing this thing race at Oulton park and in a straight line would go passed a Mclaren F1 like it had stopped, but come the corners and the Mc would destroy in and walk away. The Speed12 was an awesome looking and sounding car, just a shame it handled like crap and broke down too much.

  • For those Ridge Racer 6 players out there, that TVR is like the Soldat Crinale.

  • i keep seeing a mclaren F1 GTR

  • The sexiest car ever made. The only car that sounds angry on the road and the gaming world - see Gran Turismo 2 for proof.

  • It´s the only video I have ever seen wich shows the Quaife R4 GTS in action. And damn this was the greatest year of the British GT!! Lovely/Amazing cars in one series. (Harrier, McLaren, Quaife, Viper, TVR, Porsche GT1, Marcos, Lotus) AMAZING. Nowadays the British GT is sooo lame, I mean it´s just another GT3 series without any specials. I want the old 90` GT century back!

  • Well to all who say that the UK know nothing about muscle... :P I think this is the ultimate muscle car. this is the real Unicorn. It makes Eleanor look like a Toyota Corolla. :P

  • haaa, i remember this car from gran turismo 2, this car kept spinning out on me so i sold it and ever time i got 500,000$ so i eventually bought a suzuki dirt car that wooped all the other cars asses.!

  • It might have handled like a turd, but it's got some bloody muscle. Love that bit where the TVR outbrakes itself, Viper goes down the inside but then the TVR just fucks off down the straight...!!!

  • "Here we see the speed 12 in its natural habitat the grass, a familar place for the speed 12 to dwell"

  • The Speed 12 in this vid was limited to 660hp.

  • If it was J.J. Lehto driving the McLaren F1 GTR, he would be winning the race. What is that strange car behind the McLaren anyway?

  • My father was one of the works TVR drivers and the #1 seat in this car. Wonderful memories, thanks for posting. I will send my dad the link...!

  • Those were real Supercars racing

  • this car's a monster. without that wing it's rear end would be swingin like a shark tail

  • Looks like a bitch to drive!

  • I would use it for ASDA shopping ! picking up the kids from school hahahahah ..well I do in my TVR tasmin .....not as powerfull tho heheheh

  • Cerbera. Love it. Must have. I would totally take that, use it on the road, and learn a few things about racing. <3

  • The Cerbera Speed 12 is so powerful that it broke the input shaft on a 1000hp dyno, so TVR rated each bank individually to give at least rough estimate of the engine's power. Each bank of cylinders were at 480hp multiply that by a factor of 2 and the end result of is 960hp, however there is a problem with logic an inline 6 or V6 engine alternates between have 1 cylinder and 2 cylinders on the power-stroke whereas a V12 engine constantly has 3 cylinders on the power-stroke at any given time.

  • (Sorry about the double post)It would be safe to assume 1100+hp given the aforementioned flaw TVR's calculation of the Cerbera Speed 12's horsepower and even its torque specifications need to be adjusted.

  • That's godly.

Thank you for teaching me this.

I never actually knew this aha.

  • not a f1 i think

  • as much as a cummins or powerstroke

  • clarkson said this was a bitch to drive, but not even that mclaren could get past it on the straight, awsome car

  • @Clivestar08 It's because it's a race car. Clarkson is funny but not a racecar driver. I bet he thinks any of the cars in this league are bitches to drive.

  • OMG, this so looks like World Driver Championship ^_^

  • I didn't know they ever raced them

  • Cool video. Thanks!

  • Useless post. removed.

  • Not exactly flattering footage, it gets chased down by the male-enhancement Viper, and then the admittedly bone-tastic Mac, and then it runs off course. Still, it looks good while doing so.

  • Itwas a fairly simple car. It's running around 650bhp in race form. However, the GT2 Cerbera Speed 12 upped the game, and I reckon it'd have driven away from the viper and mclaren. For an idea of what the Speed 12 could have done with a bit more work, watch from 2:14! :-D

  • show TVR has the potential now to build something ridiculously fast

  • Porsche 911 GT1 :-) such an awesome car

  • acctually This virsion of Speed 12 had 802 hp... but cuz of FIA rules it was nurfed to 700 hp ..which is a shame

  • The Speed 12 is very difficult to control. Too much horsepower to transfer on to the wheels! One of the fastest naturally aspirated cars on the world!

  • i have a speed 12 on gran turismo 2 that look exactly like that

  • Who is this guy speaking? His documentaries are very cool.

  • I'd be interested too, I've heard this guy on some F1 season reviews (Duke DVD).

  • is that yellow car at teh beginning of the 2 min mark a Lotus Elise GT1?

  • Nah, that's a Harrier.

  • If 'simple' works then why not. Vipers have concquered the ALMSeries with their simple 'no substitute for cubic inches' approach. It is very cost effective and has also been proven to be very reliable at the same time.

  • What show is this ? Is it avaible on DVD ? Great Video

  • I got it off a guy who uploaded it onto Pistonheads. No idea where its from or who shot it. I just thought it should be shown to the world, so I uploaded it onto Youtube.

  • this car kicks ass

  • Damn why dont i ever see these races on tv

  • ...before i watch, a question. why does your sound suck as it does?

  • The headlights look like a tigers eyes.

  • hacker...how'd you put this on GT1?

    its GT2 dammit! XD

    that thing is a beast!

  • omg he went off the track ...

    how embarrassing ...

  • Lol, you try driving that thing. It's an animal.

  • uh oops XD

i thought you were talking about the "gran turismo" series for PSX XD

  • greatest car ever made. Well greatest naturally aspirated engine car ever... and possibly ever will be. The McLaren F1, they Veyron and impending Koeniggsek (sp?) could outdo it, but none of those get even close without "turbo". All beautiful cars nonetheless.

  • This Speed 12 (this being the original speed 12) may be couldn't out do the Mclaren F1 (btw the F1 was naturally aspirated). However, the Cerbera Speed 12 would have outdone a Mclaren F1 pretty easily. It'd have scared the Koenigseigg CCX and Veyron aswell (in terms of acceleration to 200 it'd have pasted them).

  • What about the Ferrari FXX/Maserati MC12 Corsa?

  • I love how it loves the Mclaren F1 for dead at 2:16. Mwaahahahaah!Simple British Engineering owning a multi million £ researched car.

  • simple engineering??? To join 2 inline 6's together & bolt the resulting thing to a chassis capable of handling (to some extent) the absurd amounts of power & torque available and then be competitive??? Are you saying the Speed 12 was not researched??? or that it was cheap?

  • It's fairly simple. The chassis on the Speed 12 was a simple tubular steel construction. On the CERBERA Speed 12 (the red one that there are lots of vids on here of), the chassis was a carbon monocoque tub with tubular steel parts bolted onto it. Immensely strong and very light. The Cerbera Speed 12 wasn't as simple as the first Speed 12, but neither had the over engineering of a Veyron or something like that. Simple brute force!

  • you were comparing it to a McLaren F1, not a Veyron. If you want simple brute force, look at american made shit with huge iron V8s and leaf springs, THAT is simple.

  • but everywhere except for at that point it was getting thrashed by the competition. Other cars were monstering it.

  • Not really mate. It seemed to be doing alright. This was TVR's first attempt at GT racing. The Cerbera Speed 12 was a much quicker car by all accounts, I'd have loved to see that race in GT1. Alas, it'll never happen, as TVR is dead.

  • gigas81 you're right. If you tune it... IT OWNS. It's still a little hard to drive :P , but I love FR Gran Turismo's cars.

  • It's damn quick . . . F1 can't get it sometimes . . .

  • that car is sick. i love the noise, how it looks and the fear factor. i have heard that tvr will custom build speed 12s for road use for privat orders and for mega money

  • It's sketchy at to whether they'd build you one....it took them a lot of time and effort. It's all in the past now anyhow, with the company having gone bust.

  • are these still produced by TVR?

  • Nope, only one was produced, and one mock up for motorshows.

  • T_T ah well.. i can dream

  • Thanks for vid-responsing my McLaren-Video. Great video too, one just have to love the TVR Speed12!

  • i would love to see that race the varon >.<

    good vid nice one

  • Found a video of a veyron round a track....very very impressive on the straights but GOD DAMN its slow through corners. It isn't a race car though, it's a straight line hyper car.

  • i use mine gt2 & gt3. you have to TUNE them ladies & gentleman!! you thought that the Speed12 was like your civic where you add parts and thats it? lol

  • If you can;t drive it on GT2 you're just not trying hard enough. I owned in my Speed 12. :-D

  • amazing car but impossible to drive on vido games

  • I think they look wonderful. Driving one on GT2 is next to impossible.

  • its too bad that its completely impossible to drive on the road

  • I own 2 of these beasts - a black one and a pearlescent purple one. Might get a bright orange one as well next week ;)

  • hahahaha...keep on playing video games...

  • yeah, these guys seem to think that gran tursimo is realistic enough to give some impression of what it's like to drive an actual car.

  • In all fairness, GT DID teach me a few things about the basics of driving a car. Fo example, how to get out of a slide. I once slid on ice FOR REAL (only a few weeks after passing my test), and instantly knew what to do. I didn't crash, whereas many people would have.

  • how to get out of a slide with a button? or a joystick? or only 360 deg of steering (unless you have a G25 or similar)? Try GTR2, Live For Speed, Richard Burns Rally, etc, where the physics engine at least approaches real life.

  • I've never seen this footage before, it's amazing!! i wanna see how those mclaren longtails did against that porsche gt1, the callaway, and the speed 12

  • Ah man that was absolutely brilliant!

  • The Sagaris may well be one of the fastest British sports cars on the road today, but I would rather have a Noble M15 any day. They're better built, better looking and also one hell of alot more reliable.

  • Nah, Sagaris owns it for looks. it's boring looking.

  • True, I think the speed 12 is certainly prob the fastest, but I like the McLaren lol. and the GT1 Lotus

  • McLaren F1 and Lotus GT1 = my fav car which are both British, and both the coolest, quickest, and rarest British cars. Only 1 road going elise GT1 exists

  • I still think the Speed 12, or at least the Cerbera Speed 12 would put up a very good fight against these two. Also, the Ultima GTR is a worthy candidate to beat them. All of them are fine cars, however.

  • On the track in British GT (shown in the video) it was a battle between the McLarens, the 911-GT1 and the Lister GTL. The Vipers and Ultimas were a class below and subsequently performed much slower. The Speed 12 was never on the pace until the 2001/2002 version, which was generally a different car altogether.

  • so were the mclarens fastest or was it the porsches? :(

  • no fuckin about tvr make the fastest british sports car on the road just look at the new tvr sagaris

  • can you please upload the part describing the McLaren F1??

  • neat, but it still reminds me of a viper: lots of power and torque at a cheap (relatively) price, but turns like a brick (relative to...a ferrari).

  • If the Viper turns like a brick I don't want to know how bad a Ferrari would corner.

  • If a viper turns like a brick... then maybe a Ferrari turns like a.... hmmm.... shark?

  • The Viper beat every current Ferrari model around a short handling track, including the Enzo. Though I might have over exaggerated in my last post. The point is as far as lap times, Ferrari isn't all that far ahead.
