  • It's funny how everyone becomes a technique expert on you tube especially when it's a regular guy. I see pro bodybuilders doing shit all the time that these form junkies would attack anyone else for but since they really cant argue with the results of say Ronnie or Jays form they don't say shit.   • Looked like a reverse row rather than a clean, you weren't using your legs enough. I don't know if you were trying to do a jerk or a press but it looked like a press - for it to be a jerk it needs to be more explosive. Also when you've cleaned the bar you might find it easier to bring your elbows up and rest it on your shoulders rather than hold it there - it wastes energy. I appreciate that this video was 3 years ago and you've probably improved, but I'm just trying to be of some help... :)

  • I appreciate your concern. That is kind of an old video and my technique has improved since then, but I don't think anything was wrong with my posture in that video. Plus bad posture from workouts is a result of poor form on exercises done for multiple reps over long periods of time, not a one rep max.

If you're goin for a 1 rep max, say if I went for my 1 rep max 200lbs, OBVIOUSLY you're posture anf form isn't gonna be as good compared to you lifting 100lbs... You need to accept feedback...

  • @motzaballsguy well, yes and no. You can have bad posture on one rep. (like in this video I assume). Things to work on: Keeping your arms locked out until pulling yourself down, keep back straight and core tight (lots of a air and pushing your stomach/abs out with help keep your back and core straight and tight), and catch that bar on your shoulders instead of your wrist. And on the jerk, drive through your heels, push yourself down, then lock your arms out. It's not a shoulder press.

  • There's no clear seperation of speeds in the pulling phases. There should be a clear difference between the speed of the bar until it reaches your knees and the speed of it on its way up to your chest. Start accelerating after the bar has reached your knees. Overall You use Your arms too much. Ideally, You shouldn't use them at all! You are pretty strong, so compensating with your arms isn't a big deal for you. With the correct technique, you would be able to clean way above 300.

  • yea, there was way too much "upright rowing." it's an explosive lift. finish your drive in shrug position on tip toes and then drop down to the bar, don't pull it up to you. just trying to help if you care about doing it properly. if you just wanna be vain, keep it up!

  • I just wanna be vain, but thanks for the advice. I don't think that upright rowing is my issue. I would actually have to agree with the other guy, who said that I was not accelerating when the bar passed my knees and excessive use of my arms. His tip actually worked, because I can do 255 now without the straps and my form has cleaned up a bit, since I posted this, over a year ago! Maybe I should just update it.

  • u mean hang clean? and i think u mean power clean...not hang clean. yeah, it's not a bad power clean for the weight, but i dont think we was doing a power clean. i think he was doing a squat clean but doesn't kno how to do it to the point that it looks more like a power clean. a hang clean starts from above the knees and takes the deadlift portion out... he started from the floor.
