  • You are a serious prodigy.. keep playing my man, keep playing :)

  • If you look at his video of the Saint-Saens at 11 and watch this, it's amazing to see the difference. His already magnificent playing has matured so much. It's great to know that he'll only get better as he gets older, in a few years he's sure to be one of the top soloists.

  • Anyone who insults that performance is a bitter jealous son of a bitch. I take from the same teacher as Aldort, and I'm 3/4's the player he is. I hope to someday surpass Oli but until then, don't anyone dare say he isn't as talented as they come. In my opinion, he has the potential to be the next Jacqueline Du'pre.

  • to emboracas....do you think Oliver didn't give emotions to that?! That is silly ...

  • he's not playing the right emotion for this piece.

  • thats very hard piece.. but I don't thikn that Dvořák is for young people because they can't give emotions to that.

  • @emboracas Ha ha..... you think young people haven't emotions.......

look at him...... He have a lot of emotions :D Fail :D

  • Its a very stupid comment. I am very sorry for you. He is great!!!!

  • i love your style with alot of power. you can do it and go better every day as long as you can feet confident with yourself.

  • you are much better at the cello than at th piano in my opinion

  • Sureee i am not at that level and so on and so on and even if am not at that level what prevents me to be right . Throughout history many people have been thought to be crazy but it's the opposite so say whatever you want to me the fact that i say the opposite to your oppinion does not mean i am an idiot i just maybe tellin the truth ... And someone will say again BUT Lynn harrel says this and that and that world renown cellist says this and that ... Virtuosies are not what they were

  • Oh, please! don't waste your time answering to people who make stupid comments. Let them say whatever they want, they are in they own right, but just listen to intelligent people. You know that Aldort is a very special talent and he will grow up and he will became a great artist. He has that gift. Even with talent is no easy this profession, so, don't waste your energy in arguring with people who is not at the same level of understanding.

    Sorry for my english. :)

  • I will not comment directly to the idiotic postings here, but I will say that as a youngster music spoke to my heart more passionately, more profoundly than anything else since. Unlike all other forms music is sublime and resonates deeply within us. Of course our understanding of it deepens with maturity, but the beauty of it speaks most loudly in our youth and here this young man plays not only with virtuosity but indeed with passion. His playing will only broaden and improve.

  • I find the tone a little harsh in this recording, and while there is no doubting the talent, I think some of the playing is a little forced.

  • camera quality isn't the greatest, that's why

  • I agree wholeheartedly with the beginning statement--AGE DOESN'T MATTER, TALENT DOES! Stop emphasizing so much on "he's 11" and start emphasizing more on the fact that he can plays well, has lovely vibrato, good tone, etc etc.! Please stop freaking out over age--it doesn't matter! Rostropovich was 80, but no one ever said "he plays good for his age"......Why does it matter if you are young or old? If your music is beautiful, I will applaud you no matter what. :) I dont care about your age tho.

  • Happy to listen to you! This is a very difficult piece. You have wonderful talent and also, I think, probably good teachers and devoted parents. Hope you keep working on your music and become a great cellist in the future!

  • VV are YOU JOKING DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THIS KID HAS PROBABLY PRACTICED?

  • Stop mentioning his age. He plays magnificiently and that is all.

  • i hate child prodigies

  • To. GenNormanSchwarzkopf

Why would you hate child prodigies?

Just shut up, you are just damn jealous..

  • A-MAI-ZING!!!!

  • simply amazing !

  • what an incredible tone

  • Quick question. What state do you live in? If nearby, I'd like to come listen. Also, what kind of cello is that, where did you get it, and how much did it cost?

    Thanks.

  • This is a 3/4 cello loaned to Oliver by the Carlsen foundation.

  • Question: Are you Jewish?

  • You have an amazing gift, explore it and the world is yours

  • Holy crap this kid is crazy! Nice job Oliver you're incredibly talented.

  • Wow...what age did you start playing??

  • six

  • Dude! Your pretty good when did you start on this peice? I started at 14 and got it down by 15 how long did it take you to master it?

  • Oliver performed the concerto first at age 13. Recently he performed the whole concerto with an orchestra and will soon have some of it on youtube.

  • Question: Are you home schooled?

  • Yes

  • i think this is my fav!

  • man! you are so good

  • Is this the same incredible young pianist? Clara Haskil was supposed to have been excellent on the violin as well. There are not many though who can excel in more than one profession. And both favorably influence one another. You learn to SING on the piano by playing a string instrument--just gorgeous playing, very mature. One thing, though, the pianist in the background is not enough of an orchestra, too subdued, should provide more support, or maybe the mike is not in the right place.

  • I really love this piece, and I love how he performes it!

  • I have read many of the posts and I agree - extraordinary tone production - full bodied, resonant. Equally extraordinary passion from one so young and so poetically aligned. Favourited with pleasure! An honour, really...

  • Boy,You are Genius!!!

  • That's just amazing. There are plenty of prodigies with this technical level, but his emotional understanding of the piece just blows my mind.

  • omg, SO amazing!!!

  • Brilliant intonation and interpretation!

His talents began before this life time, for sure. I wonder who he was in his past life?

  • cello and piano, and AMAZING at both. What's next

  • I agree with the other comments - your intonation is amazingly accurate, especially in the higher positions - I've been playing for 22 years and I'm not that good. And that cello is gorgeous.

  • bravo man!

your interpratation sounds like yo-yo ma's.

    how much do you practice??

  • Two hours per day.

  • Watching this young man is like watching a bull fighter dance. The expression" the fire and energy passed from the soul of this young man to his cello is inspiring.

  • i just found the sheet music fpr this song! mybe ill be able able to play it in a yuear. or two. or three.or four. or...

  • I wonder what he's going to play when he's an adult...

  • There are some spots when I didn't like your interpretation of Dvorak, but DAMN you have the best tone/intonation/overall cello skills.

  • jeez, and I thought Piatagorsky's sound was alive! This boy has to be the best musician I've ever heard. Everything he does is so delightfully tasteful! He's going to be better than any cellist you ever thought was amazing, much better than rostropovich, du pre, casals, piatagorsky, feuermann, fournier put toghether! Got to love Oliver! He's the best!!!

  • Wow! The very first notes made me tremble. What skill, what assurance, what panache.

    Every generation has its Rostropovich!

  • How can your intonation be so perfect so young?!? lol

  • This might be a little too early, but what about Prokofiev's sinfonia concertante?

  • you freaky freaky freak freak freak cello genius.........

  • beautiful

  • excellent. interesting interpretation. I am very excited to see you play the full cello repertoire.

  • great great great... :)

  • the next jacqueline du pre! in the most positive way possible, of course! :D

  • You are great!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful! He has come such a long way!

  • Wow! But, given the environment he grew up in, I can't say I am surprised. I think we will see many more examples of such genius as parenting evolves. Humans are so cool!

  • Oliver...how much higher can you go? You are the Tiger Woods of the cello. Breathtaking. Can't wait for you to score a top orchestra to solo with. I'm passing the word to the cellists I know to come hear you. And congrats on the better quality camera...sound is great too. ;-)

  • bravo! amazing control, intonation, dynamics, etc. super talented!

  • well done! :)
