  • The one guy who played for a minute on the Breeders played like this guy....cool. But, I;m getting mine set up lefty with the strings for lefty....

  • Wow that's awesome!

  • Fucking crazy amzing cover / improve, been looking for ages to find someone who actully had flipped the t-bird to see if there were any difficulties, but from the way you play it, DEFONATLY NOT, just got to say thanks for uplouding this vid and also for the great cover :D

  • he must have been talking about the bassist "Dickinson". on a 4 string, this is a good covr.

  • your like Jimi Hendrix of the bass world!

  • @Fear268 there's a bunch of others who flip guitars like me, and Jim Haslep has lefty guitars strung up inverted, so although weird looking I'm not the only one who plays this way :)

  • really cool man im a left handed bassist too haha

  • haha oh wow this one is old, one of the old talker vids :)...but ya thanks. Although my band now a days dont play speedmetal anymore, I still love it and jam it constantly.

  • haha thats cool man i love your videos though your really awesome i saw the stratovarius one that was sick, your an inspiration to me :D

  • why is your bass upside down????

    ps Sweet cover

  • well, cause I play with the strings inverted as my main thing. I do, and have covers of me playing lefty-normal, but lefty-inverted is what I'm better at.....

and thanks on the "sweet cover". If I knew the song I probably would have done the whole thing, just like the many many metal speedpicking jams I have in my list.

  • dude you are fucking sick. its looks sweet when you play the t bird upside down. and i saw your post on the thunderbird pro forum. did you say you have one already?

  • ya neck thru EMG equipped and says professional on the headstock--but it ain't no EPI ;)

  • GREAT COVER!

  • sooooooooooooo sick!!!!

  • it was a little harder to speedpick this song on this bass, but I was up for the challenge as the descrip said ;) I just memorize everything, I dont care if the strings are upsidedown or not, or if the bass is tuned to E,D,C, wherever..it's all just a sequential pattern of notes...nothing else.

  • damn it I want to play like that... =)

  • some day you will be able to, this was only done cause I was impressed by someone else doing it. I didn't really learn the tune, just listened to it that day I recorded it, and hit go on the camcorder..it turned out ok, so I posted it.

  • Nice job, I have the same bass and love it!

  • ya it's an EPI, not a Gibson, but to me it is "GOLDEN". I already have 2 high end T-Bird basses to play so this one is more of a toy, but I still use it constantly, as it has a unique tone.

  • I love Symphony X! Plus, I almost met Mike Romeo, their guitarist! I listened to it and you did a damn good job at it! Not the easiest song to play, I can see. I listened to it, like you said. Then I watched. Awesome job!

  • I wanted to see if I could get the speed off the strings cause it is harder to play this guitar compared to my other basses. but it came out good enough that I posted it.

    thanks for the post c-13.

  • well...youre the best bass player in the parallel universe,damn...just imagine play my bass with the reverse strings make me dizzy jeje, awesome man...

  • Peizer en vivo Rafael Solana that video is your band? and you are the guy with the bass?

YOU HAVE A LEFTY GUITAR PLAYER! :-)

  • Haha. Man, you can stop sucking up, now! :P I appreciate the words, for sure.

The Hendrix Bass thing surprised the crap out of me. I don't know how you can play this song, because playing a Bass the regular way allows you to economy pluck (that's the term I use for following through the strings with your pluck hand fingers; derived from the Guitar term "economy picking") that intro, making it much easier.

I posted a transcription of the Bass part on my video, it's for 6-string, though.

  • I would be sucking up if you were my neighbor, and I was playing your 6 stringer...lol

anyway, thanks for the post, and ya, if our band did this song, I would have posted the whole thing... p.s. hendrix played a righty guitar lefty, but he had always played with the strings on the correct way ( there is some good info on the net in his biography ) on why he just didn't use a "lefty" guitar.

  • Love this song man, ive been wanting to learn it for ages!

  • Dan, the whole song is long, but super easy. I listened to it for a 1/2 hour and just went down and played it. you don't need tabs, as the patterns are just SOOOO repetitious with tiny changes. What makes it very hard is the speed, and the increased speed of the runs, if you can get past that, you'll have it down within in a day's work.

You can really hear the nasty crappy Epiphone growly sound perfectly in the fast leads in this song that EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT-- true dirt.. whew

  • Awesome!

  • thanks mike

  • dude, that was a sick cover!!! that looks tough as hell to play but you nailed it! totally awsome!!!

  • ya J, I was inspired by the guy in my description. --either that or I was going thru "fast and furious" withdrawl, and had to satisfy my cravings-- tough to play? naw tougher to hear what the bassist was playing on the mp3 and figure out the fast riffs before I rolled the camcorder and went for it. If our band wanted to do the song, I would just learn it for real. this "part" was just for the few others who have videos on here and really suck, for comparison. ( NOT the guy I was inspired by ).

  • hey.. hows that epiphone? im thinking about buying a right handed epiphone SG and restringing lefty since SGs are hot... but the gibson is about $1300 lol. is the epiphone nice? also, does the amp plug-in being on the top instead of the bottom get in the way?

  • replacing the nut and reversing the saddles in the bridge to reverse the strings WILL VOID any warranty you get, so thats up to you. your a beginner, just learn how to play upside down, it's no harder than the normal way. but again, thats up to you. as far as me "liking" my Epi, the thing plays well, the thing stays in tune forever, the intonation is perfect, so I'm happy with mine, but it is not my JACKSON bass, and I won't compare the 2.

  • kick ass!

  • the bass is kinda low, but it's "hear-able"..lol

    thanks again DB696.

  • HOLY HELL DUDE, YOUR BEST SHOT?

Christ, I can only DREAM about playing stuff like that. You look so damn weird playing all that shit upside down, but it is totally fantastic. Is this a tune your band does?

  • no stew, this is just a fun jam cause I saw others doing it.

  • Nice. That's some pretty fast stuff.
