We now have only about 1.500 celtic words and our language is NOT official in Spain. We must all speak Castillian, I'm 50 years old in times of Franco I remember been hit by teachers when I spoke in Asturian. Nothing has changed we still can't officially speak in Asturian... but we are still here, struggling but alive and very proud of our celtic roots. We will hold fiercely to our traditions.

It took more time and men for the romans to conquer Asturias than to conquer the whole Galia (France). The Asturian Legions were sent to protect "the Hadrian Wall" for over 400 years, various roman texts from that time explain that the reason for sending Asturians to Scotland was the we spoke in those times a very similar language to that of the celtic tribes in Scotland. The most important Asturian tribes are The Albions, The Zoelas, The Luggones (lug) and The Cylurnigos (Cymru)

People have the image of Spain, playing the Spanish guitar. Sevillanas and flamenco dancing. BUT NO !!! I would like that the other countries know the north of Spain. Also they are a very mountainous regions and very different from the rest of the other communities. im spanis and i was borm in Asturias :)
