Can people stop saying "I don't know what a compressor does, I can't hear a difference" You're making yourself sound like noobs. Try a good compressor and you will see what it does.
I will never, EVER trade out my CMATMODS Deluxe Signa Comp ($160) for another compressor. UNLESS I hear one that's better! LOL Over 6 years on my board and it still makes me smile :) I do like these demos, though, because they reassure me that my money was well spent.
I love my MXR dynacomp. $70.00 small and easy. And I love a lot of boss pedals but their compressor is junk. Friggen thing sits and hums like an open line.
Wow, if 190 bucks is too much to spend on a quality compressor, you're watching the wrong youtube channel. I'm sure the people over at Boss's channel could help you out.
@ben58park A little neck bending, Sir. Grab the guitar by the top horn and push the neck forward. Not for the faint hearted or those with weak neck joints. :)
@ben58park he's pushing the neck forward whilst holding back the body-- thus reducing tension of the strings. It's a common method of vibrato/tremolo for fixed bridge/hardtail style guitars. However, there is a thin line between harmless technique, and damaging action-- there are plenty of horror stories surrounding this particular move.
@CMSpida Idk man, a good compressor is almost a nessisty if you're playing with a Strat. Gets rid of the thin and reedy sound, especially if you're playing funk. Agreed it's pricey, but it's also handmade.
@PRSpl4yer I wouldn't say a necessity. To me a Strat through a compressor just sounds too processed. And I've never seen John Frusciante use a compression pedal to do his funk mastery. Had to point that out, but I respect your opinion sir.
@PRSpl4yer Oh MERCY man... approximately fourteen thousand other compressors are "handmade", and they are far, far cheaper, not to mention fantastic as well.
@bloodySunday77 You know, I hear you, but I'll never bugrudge someone for making a buck. Look at it this way tho: the maker has to buy components, overall it's probs 40$ in material costs, which really isn't cheap. He needs to be paid for his work, and one of these I'll bet takes an afternoon to wire up, at least, and I know Tone Monk is a single man operation, so it needs to be worth the dudes time. Then the retailer needs to make some money too for the service they provide. Pretty fair IMO
@PRSpl4yer firstly my strat is 2 humbuckers so i dont really have that problem and the hand made thing is a placebo. you think it sounds better but how could it possibly aswell as more chance of a mistake in the circuitry if its hand made
@CMSpida Nice to know - . But don't call me for any session work - if you're loaded up with $35 Boss junk it just means you won't have the tools you need to do the gig. I'm going to call the guys who show up armed and dangerous ;-)
@moucon The thing is if you were a decent producer then you'd have a hardware compressor in your rack so a guitarist shouldn't need to bring one. and Btw quite a few well known guitarists use boss pedals including slash, Jim Root, James Valentine

So how does this work? Do you guys send burgs the pedals? Either way I'm totally stoked you guys teamed up.
And if I had to pick at least one pedal to spend a good amount of money on it would be my compressor. A good compressor is priceless to me.

I don't understand why you're all bitching about $189 being a lot. In Norway, hardly any USED pedals cost less than $100.

Why do they use this weird names for pedals. One of my friends said it's highly offensive to use these names in certain cultures.

Sounds good, but my Custom Comp is serving me well enough for the few times I actually use a compressor.
FloyDZeD 2 months ago
For that price you can buy a rack compressor and get much much much more value.
