I am totally with ya on the 2 blade rage. I love them. But you mentioned not being able to get the Muzzy flying right. Try looking here on youtube for video's about how to Tune your broadheads. It does wonders for how they fly. Even though your using a rage I would still tune your broadheads. Made a tremendous difference for me
@pasinthrough hey try the rage 3 plade set they r 49.99 for 3 where i live n ky i used then last year the deer was right under me moving bhind me ( cause i was asleep n my stand thats y it got so close ) but i had to shoot down at its back but to make this short and sweet i broke its back and busted its heart it looked like a hand grenade whent off in that deer
You do not have to change the O ring after every shot usually it will last 6 deer. All you have to do is sharpen the blades on a stone every two deer. I shot muzzys for three years and never lost one deer then my stepdad wanted to try rages one year. I didn't really have much to lose because I already had meat in the freezer. I ended up shooting a good seven point with one and blood bursted from his shoulder and ran 15 yards and dropped dead. Rages just get the job done faster not better.
The only thing I dont like about Rage is that you have to change the O ring after every shot, and that the blades dont always open up. I Have better luck with my muzzys not saying either is better than the other I just chose to use muzzy over Rage.
Sounds like you trying to make the pigs shit smell like perfume they ain't worth a ca ca I've lost 4 deer to them they don't open up all the time done lost two deer again this year hell two weeks ago was a three blade I got two deer with range one at 5yards and one spine follow up with a muzzy I got some and I'm putting them in a padded envelope and sending them back .gone back muzzy boy jus site your bow in with these muzzy and that's where they will hit broad head alignment must be the same o
i shot rage because i believed that they were good but i hit the deer just perfect my first shot at a deer ever. I followed the bllod trail which was huge at first but it just got smaller and smaller then ran out. i know i hit it good cause i checked the camera and it was right where it should be and probably penetrated 3 inches. i pull back 56 so i doubt it was my pullback. so in that case RAGE sucks. they made me lose my first deer ever and now i picked up some G5 strikers.
Ur a trollin fag blackjack now that thats out of the way lol I really dont think u all under stand what these 2" rage can do quater shit leave 4 - 8 inch entry and exit gashes the blood pores like spilt paint and as far as sayin these are for noobs no body cares about whos the best shot and how skilled u are i care about pulling tgat bow back and when i let it go hearing a smack seein the blood and finding that deer close by if i could use a cross bow during the early bow season i woul
people who use rages are the people who are just to lazy to practice with there equipment,,and they just hit the animal anywhere ,,and they think it will bleed to death.
DUDE!!!! put down the METH pipe.I can understand your excitment about a good shot/meat in the freezer, but please don't be HIGH when you're doing product placement.I presonally think Rage are junk. That being said shoot what ya like/what works for you.JUST don't be HIGH while doing it.....P.S. MAGNUS RULE!!!!!!!!
Been shooting muzzy since b4 most of u were born.. I have seen many others come and go.. Muzzy is still the best.. My wife who shoots a 40# micro adrenalin she uses the 75gr 3 blade muzzy with no issues
Muzzy is now and will be the king long after Rage is gone...
No mechanicals please. The problem is the dipshits that can't tune or shoot are the ones shooting mechanicals are the same guys that will shoot deer in the shoulder for a Rage fail. Learn to tune and then pick a cut-on-contact BH like Phathead, Stinger, Phantom. That will give you best all around BH in every way. I can shoot mechanical 100gr and field points 4" groups at 40 yds. So you can too! I shot Muzzy 4Blade 90gr for many years until seeing why cut on contact are far better.
Hellava deal , I keep hearing people putting down on these broadheads I have killed 15 deer with a rage 2 blade and I am beside myself at how fast the deer go down , if you are getting bad results it is poor shot placement , I shot a doe last year @ 45 yards pass through and she went 10 feet
PRACTICE AHEAD OF TIME! I have not used a rage broadhead. I'm into razor back 5 broadheads. But now I'm a Handicap hunter because of fighting Agent Orange Cancer for 28 years. So it's down to using a Crossbow this year " a Barnet Predator at 345 fts"! I have to look at broadheads again! The range & Gander MT liked NAP Spitfire broadheads, BTW it flys fine, the Company sent me some Spitfire practice points! They fly like a target tip. Shooting abt a 2” group at 40 yards with a Barnet Predator!
i would like to try rage but i dont have a real good spot to hunt and i usually only get 1,2 mayb 3 shots at a deer and i usually miss cuz i shake really bad,so when i hit it i want to make damn sure my broadhead isnt gonna mess up..the rage might work 99% of the time but my luck it would mess up and i wouldnt get the deer..like they say, THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT CAN GO WRONG ,WHY ADD ONE MORE? and i do not remember where i heard that but it just popped in my head
Yes, the Rage 2-blade is a great head......getting complete pass throughs shooting 29inch 372gr arrow at 325fps out of a Destroyer 350 set at 71lbs. Very nice results. The negatives you hear about these heads are simply an excuse for a poor shot.
my ground blind has wire mesh in the windows and im scared if i shoot one through the mesh it will open up and screw up the flight path iv heard of it happening has anyone had this problem?
Shot my first deer with a bow last night. I was using a Rage 2 blade. It flew perfectly, and opened up a huge hole both entering and exiting, and went right threw the deers shoulder . . . .amazing
NEWEST BROADHEAD: O.K., I just ordered 6 new Ramcat Broadheads. Check out the Ramcat video's on YouTube. If you investigate this broadhead you will have to smile at its engineering and lethality. Yes it is a fixed blade and is vastly different from all others. This Ramcat seems WICKED, I will be using it on tomorrows evening hunt... I JUST DONT REALLY CARE FOR MECHANICALS.
@RamBowMike My cousin used them a little bit because he wanted to go against the grain of all us Rage guys. He still claims to like his Thunderheads the best. Reapers work pretty good from his kills I've seen. The damage is not quite as devastating as the Rage and he agrees. It's a great mechanical IMO. Only one way for you to find out for sure. Drop $39 and satisfy your curiosity. I don't think you'll be disapointed in Reapers but Rage makes bigger holes IMO. Neither is a bad choice.
@GLOCKCOPG23 Have you checked out the new Ramcat broadheads? Technology and science has developed a new and superior fixed broadhead called the Ramcat. Check out the new Ramcat on YouTube.
@RamBowMike I have seen them in catalogs and they do seem to be "wicked" as you termed it. Looks like it will be a pretty good slayer. I don't think you'll see a great difference between them and your Muzzy's because the Muzzy as you already know is one damned good broadhead. RamCat is one mean looking head though. Make sure the RamCat shoots straight through your bow first. Might need a tweek or two. Good luck tomorrow, brother. I too will be out there looking to "harpoon" a monster. Rage On!
@RamBowMike We wanted to compare rage and grim reapers this year so my dad shot reapers and i shot rage. we both harvested 2 deer. the rage definately leave a bigger hole and seemed to penetrate more. my deer didn't make it quite as far as his did (all shots were lung/heart shots) in my opinion the rage worked better but both are great broadheads! good luck with whatever you choose!
All you skeptics of RAGE have a few issues that need to be addressed.
1. You are making marginal shots on deer and need to spend more time at the range
2. The other complaint im reading is that the O-rings wear out after one shot.....well guess what thats why each pack of RAGE comes with replacement O-rings taped inside on the back??? Probably threw them away huh?
All Heads are great that are on the market today compared to 10 years ago even. A bad shot is no reason to buy new heads! PRACTICE
@cmack003 Rage broadheads don't have strong enough blades and they always have to be replaced even after one shot. The blades come off the O-ring even when in my quiver and each time I put em back, they get looser and often deploy while just sitting on my arrow rest. I just don't care for em. Rage blades are like Tin-Foil: This is why I like Muzzy! I can kill 10 deer with the same Muzzy.
@RamBowMike Wow! You must be the only person on the planet that has not had a damaged blade on a Muzzy. Seriously, sarcasm aside, all broadhead blades can and will get damaged. "Replace Rage blades after one shot"?? DON'T BELIEVE IT! After 14 animals we have replaced exactly "4" blades, not complete broadheads but just "4" single blades. That ain't bad, brother. Don't get me wrong, Muzzy is a great head but it get's dammaged too. Why do you think they offer replacement blades. Good luck Oct 1.
@GLOCKCOPG23 The Muzzy blades are thicker than most other broad heads and I have never had a Muzzy blade bend on me, dulled yes, but never bent. If I was to ever use a mechanical it would be the Grim Reaper: (Check out the youtube video called grim reaper broad heads) The design and materials are far superior to the rage. But I don't like mechanicals and my bow is perfectly tuned so field points and broad heads fly the exact same.
i love Rage too, best broadhead on the market, and probably will stay the best broadhead, BUT i do have one problem with them, they made the locking device on the blade a little too long which is making the lip catch on the O-ring and making it hard as hell for the blades too open up.
i seen a buddy hit a monster 10 point with a rage in the shoulder at 20 yards he is drawing 70lbs ,the arrow only went in 3 inches never even bled one week later i shot the 10 point at 45 yards quarterd away pass through the front shoulder with a muzzy so when it comes to bone muzzy is the way to go , use what you like but look at how much connetic energy you lose with a mechanical , just sayin , but thanks to my friend useing rage , i have the county record bow kill hangin on my wall !!
@69C10lowrider Ya,...OK. Nice "STORY". Care to show us the documentation of that "county record" or some pictuers of the Rage failure/old wound? Didn't think so. I and my father in law have been using Rage for 2 plus years with GREAT results. Just ask the 14 animals we killed about that "only 3 inches penetration" hooha. You have a bright future as the author of fictional novels. The first title should be "The Total Bullshit I Make Up" or "The Tall Tales of 69C10lowrider". Give us a break!
Rage all the way...i shot Muzzy 100 before I switched and i felt like it didn't have a big enough cutting diameter and that the exit hole was closin up before the deer had a real chance to bleed out. With my rage I have had no problem, my grandpa is a taxidermest and he always says that the deer come in that have shot with a Rage have the biggest holes in them.
i actually use "hellrazors" not mechanical but extremely accurate and sharp. i dont need mechanicals, cavemen and indians tied a pointed stone to their arrows and still killed animals, and a sharp triple razor edged broadhead also does the trick without a problem.
@ParadoxGuitarist1 yea they fly fast wen i shoot them with 50 pounds but i went up to 63 pounds they fly alott faster... but it really depens on wat you shoot and how u shoot
@bucksk8 Yeh I need a new one because my bow is maxed on pounds and its easy to pull back but I am going to stick with it for one more year.So ur sayin that with 50 lb bow with the rage will kill em from 20 yards away?
@ParadoxGuitarist1 well do you no how many fps ur bow is but yea it will defenlty kill one at 20 yards but id u hit it in the sholder it probly wont but ive hit em with my matthews sett on 60 pounds and they never run more then 80 yards... but i shoot the nap bloodrunners now in my opinion i like them beter then the rage beacause wen u put the rage in a quiver they open nd i always cut my self trynna close then the bloodrunners are really good with 50 pounds the bloodrunners would be beter
@ParadoxGuitarist1 you can try thoes i herad there really good but idk about of a 50 pound bow there really more for th faster bows but u can try them
@ParadoxGuitarist1 A Rage will smoke any deer out there with a 50 lb bow. I'd stay away from the Blood Runners in a 50 lb bow because the Blood Runners have a huge fat body that hampers penetration. Rage is way better. Rage even has a "40KE" broad head for lighter pound bows which will offer really good penetration at the slower velocity of a lower pound bow. My father in law uses a 58 lb draw and I use 65 lbs with regular 2 blade Rage with fantastic results. No animal ran more than about 40yrds
@GLOCKCOPG23 Thanks but I went to my local archery shop and gut some other kind but i don't know what there called.I might use rage when I get a stronger bow which will be soon.
ive shot mech broadheads for years now i used fixed blades for maybe 15 years but the last 11 i have shot soley mech out of a compound and crossbow.i have yet to lose a deer to a mech i have shoulder shot deer spine shot deer and heart lung deer.have yet to loose a deer to a mech.there easy to tune fly good and penetrate good.i used muzzy 3 blade .i had trouble tuneing them there bad to have crooked ferrels.i shoot a silvertips from carbon express.wonderful heads
i bought rage 3-blade and i have trouble with the O rings breaking every time. is that normal. first time mechnical user. was shooting muzzy 4 blade 100 grain. could somoone please give me some advice
@diego1119133dood do the T3s shoot like a feildpint cuz i jus bought bloodrunner 2 blades an the DO NOT shoot like feild point do im takin them bak.. help me out fellas i waNt a broadhead that shoots like feild point except RAGE
Not doubting the Rage at all... but what I got out of it was this: Around 2:29 of the video, the shooter stated, "It was 2 days before the season and I couldn't get my Muzzy's to shoot out of my 'new' bow." Here is my issue: Who waits until 2 days before opening day to start shooting broadheads out of their 'new' bow? To me... that's irresponsible. Like he said at 5:05... "You owe the animal more than that."
I shot the Rage 2 blade last year and for some reason the blades were not opening right. This year I purchased the T3 from G5 and they shoot great. The cutting diameter is not as large as the Rage 2 blade but the blades in my opinion are sharper and more reliable. The T3's cost as much as the Rage but are reuseable and don't dull as quickly.
I used to bow hunt and had no problems with my broadheads flyin' to where I aimed - but I guess the new Rage broadheads are good too - never shot one.
But the purpose of my post is to let you all know why that all of a sudden this fellow had trouble with eractic performance of his Muzzy broadheads - it is global water heater warming. You see the steam in the air heats up the blades on the broadheads and gives them strange lift patterns. I checked this with Al Bore.
@vermontchef1 how do muzzys suck? my dad has used them all his bowhunting life 30 years.16 deer all but 2 pass throughs.iv been bow hunting for 4 years used muzzys for all of them.they fly good and good entry and exit holes.now i use wasp. But please dont talk crap about muzzys.
cutting diameter is simply too large. keep shooting them and eventually you will regret it. there's a reason mechanicals constantly change. there's also a reason that most fixed blades have been exactly the same for twenty years. no need to improve something that works just fine. as for tuning, todays three hundred fps+ bows make it very hard to shoot good old reliable braodheads. my 1990 bear silent hunter shoots 242fps and i wackem and stackem as good as anyone out there.
Been using 2 blade Rage for three yrs. along with my father in law. A total of 15 animals, 7 of them hogs and NO PROBLEMS. These things are great. 4 tough ole hogs had complete pass through. Comp pass through on nearly all deer shot. I AIN'T SWITCHING for nothing. When I hit the woods, Rage is on the end of my sticks.
HE said it best... "have the best confidence in your equipment"... reguardless of what you shoot Rage, Muzzy, 130 grain zwickeys as far as I care. But do your home work and have it tuned to your bow... The mechanical/COC debate is like a Ford/Chevy debate..It will never end. what ever you use, Know your equipment, practice and good luck this season... :-)
Im giving you five stars based on the presentation... just liked your style... However i dont like or use mechanical broadheads... I think the only truely RELIABLE broadhead is a two or three blade FIXED BLADE broadhead.... but thats just me.. I also dont see the reasoning in chosing lightweight heads when most shots are taken 30 yards and under... a sharp 150 gr+ COC broadhead will outpenetrate and outkill an 85gr Mechanical all day long... Everyones caught up in the hype..
Check out Dan Fitzgerald hunting with simple broadheads in the 1990's, very efficient and not overkill. I agree with snot1012. My two bits mate. Think shot placement.
this year was my first time bow hunting. i shot 2 deer with the cheapest mechanicals i could find (eastman silverstrike) and they did just fine. Huge exit hole, lots of blood.
Snot1012, I really don't care if you belive me or not. I just would hate for you to find out how bad these broadheads are by losing a buck of a lifetime. Think about this watch the G5 broadhead commercial and then watch the Rage 2 commercial, see anything in common. Lee and Tiffany in both saying how great they both are, now if Rage is so great, why do a commercial for G5. Cause G5 paid better that week! Watch and see how many shots with Rage dont pass thru. I wish I had done that b4 my hunt.
ive shot 3 deer and about 15 hogs this year with the 3 blade rage. i got complete pass thrus on every animal. all 3 deer never got more than 20 yards and every hog wad dead within 30. great blood trails. im never going back to any other broadhead.
im 14 and my dad bout me a hoyt powerhawk 09, the bows awesomeand i have awesome arrows with good fletching and im trying to decide between rage 2 blade or the NAP bloodrunner mechanicals
Hey, I'm from South Africa and I have a Turbohawk, I shoot Easton ST Axis shafts with 2" Blazer vanes, tipped with 100 gr NAP Nitrons. I shot a buck and a Warthog, both of them complete passthroughs, eventhough on the warthog I hit A LOT of bone. The buck went 17 yards, the warthog 40, LOTS of blood! Remember, African game is tough, very very tough and a lot of guys use this setup here, it's fast, quiet, accurate, dependable and effective, try it. Don't shoot mechanicals on lower poundages.
Rage2 suck I have shot 2 big bucks this year and both were shot perfectly no shoulder bone with a 72lbs bow at 290 fps, less than 25 yds Neither shot was a pass thru hardly any blood trail.I have killed over 100 deer with a bow in 20yrs so Im no novice I almost lost a 177 P&Y buck due to these pieces of crap, Two of my friends have had the same luck with these on big deer dont use them, the pros are lying to get a check from rage Are you willing to take a chance with your lifetime buck!
i think the are like all broadheads i know muzzy 4 blades have a tendency to shoot great out of one bow and fail hard out of another so rage must be like some open and penetrate and fly good while other suck bad...from what ive seen and heard im sticking to my muzzy 4s that shoot good for me out of my compound and my magnus stingers for my recurve
My rocket broadheads have a inch and one eighth cutting diameter and I never had a problem. The key in recovering deer is double lunging. Which is SHOT PLACEMENT. One thing I do agree with is expandables shoot more like fieldpoints which gives you better shot placement my rockets shoot exactly like my field tips every time
If u want a relly good bow buy the sidekick by parker xp gives an awsome performance i u get it u can send it in with $50 u can get an upgrade what it is is they give u new limbs its awsome
I used muzzys as well for 10 years and just switched to rage this year. My first buck ran 25 yards and nose plowed. Just like teh video on the website shows. No doubt about it, the rage is exactly what it says it is...the best in the world.
Hi my name is Tony and my dad shot Muzzy's for 20+ years and then we switched to the SlickTricks and they were pretty good just not a very big hole good cutting just not a significant blood trail im only 14 and im shooting a PSE FireFlight 33-65 pounds and my dad shoots a Mathews Reezen and he is thinking about giving me his Reezen and him buying the newest mathews bow but we switched to the 3-bladed rage and we are very impressed very big hole and i killed my first buck with one and just awsome
I had a bad experiences with a mech head, (vortex 2 blade)....seen results both ways, but seem to have penetration problems consistently. Now use the Rocket ultimate steel heads 7/8" inch....pass through everytime regardless of angle or bone. Shooting 70# /272fps/466grain arrows./ PSE Mach 8
Tell your friend to place his shot better next time, and bone up on your tracking skills. Finally, don't blame your inefficiencies on inanimate equipment. There are broadheads out there with a 3/4" cutting diameter that can put a deer down if the shot is placed correctly, so a 2" diameter is plenty.
There are plenty of videos on this site(type in Rage, click on doe hunt very graphic) that show this broadhead leaves slasher movie style blood trails. Practice please.
I'm not buying that at all. I don't know about where you're from, but here in Illinois the minimum poundage for a hunting bow is 40 pounds, and that will easily penetrate an animal. So an adult using a 60lb. bow should be able to push any arow with any broadhead right through a shoulderblade inside 40 yards with ease.
I'm not trying to be a dick or anything but @55lbs a bow should be making about 76lb/ft of kinetic energy and should put anything but a small game bludger head through a shoulder.
hey great vid. And to all of you people who dog mechanical broadheads or rage shoot slow ass bows my monster xlr8 80lb pull shoot muzzies as good as you could fly without wings. i almost cant hit the target at 10 yards because they fly all over. The only two broadheads i recommend are rage and spitfire they both shoot great through my bow and blow through any deer. If your to stupid and shoot the deer through there shoulders then nothing is goin to penatrate very well and you should go practice
I gotta tell you, I don't know what you guys are doing with your broadheads to be complaining about the Rage. I've been using them for 3 years and never had a problem. Never open in flight, always leave a gaping hole, blood trail like a Halloween flick, and I've shot through my fair share of shoulderblades. And I've been tuning bows for 10 years and I can tell you a badly tuned bow means NO arrow will fly true, no matter what broadhead you use. Think Gobbler Guillotine.
Gotta tune your bow to make a fixed blade fly right thats why the guys at bow shops push those rage is because they dont have to tune the bows as well or put off set in their fletching. I have shot spitfires and killed many deer with no problems at all but switched to muzzys due to cost, I can buy 6 muzzys for the price of 3 rages, and its all about shot placement any way the muzzys penetrate and stick in the ground on the otherside everytime for me no lost deer with the muzzys for me....
If you aint gonna use them muzzy's get aholt of me so I can buy them off you, Id rather have that muzzy burried 5 inches in the ground than a 2" wound chanell anyday. Hit bone with that rage and see what happens, it creates 2" of hinderence on your arrow!
you spoke abaout lining up the muzy with the fletchings to make it fly right is there a certain way the rage is supose to screw in or can u screw it in and go i am going to shoot them and bow opens up here Oct.3 thanks
Type Rage Broadhead into the search bar, and click on the video that says "Doe hunt- very graphic". A guy shoots a pretty big doe, and the exit wound is so big that the doe does a death jump and a SIX FOOT blood spray comes out her right side, and she didn't make it twenty yards. Too many idiots out there that say their stuff is the best because they own it.
pepeto..i'm in maine try comparing your deer to our bears and moose..ive watched a bull moose shot with a rage 2-blade take 3 steps and pile up. we've killed two of maines top 50 black bears ever with rage 2-blades ... ive shot alot of broadheads and i wont shoot another one...ever... after shooting rage
great video! im in ohio here and last year i shot a huge 12pt and it ripped the hell out of the deer. if anyone is still having questions about them, i am going to be posting my video shortly and what im doing in this video is shooting a muzzy into a dead deer thern a rage. you will see a huge difference
I just shot a deer in wisconsin with a rage 2 blade and it tore up the deer. we measured the wound channel and it was 3 1/2 inches the whole way through. INCREDIBLE
Hey Pepeto, I live in Illinois. You gonna try and tell me that we got small deer up here? And I've been using Rage 2 blade for the last three years. Never had a problem with them. Awesome bleed channels, and 4 out of 5 were shoot-throughs last year.
pepto i live in georgia and a mature deer wil get to be 200+ pounds so shut the hell up cuz u think u know it all and what our deer lack in weight we make up for in strength we are not pulling 30 pounds like u fags were pullin 90 pound bows so shut the fuk up u yank
As far as expandibles, Rage is by far the best on the market. Good deployment, excellent cutting power, huge wound channels, theres just nothing to not love except the expandible part. I have always been an advocate for the simpler the better. That's why I shoot, and will continue to shoot, my Magnus Buzzcut's. I love the cutting power, for a fixed blade they shoot well, and they are available for a reasonable price (though you don't have to replace them often, I've gotten 3 seaons out of mine)
jeffp51, I have never had a Rage open up in-flight. The only way that happens is if you are playing around with it too much, and wear out the o-ring. Just replace it, they give you three in a package. One and done is incorrect as well. This is my third season with the same Rage 2-blades, still going strong. And NO arrow shot correctly will bounce off a shoulder. Not even a field point.
rage suck's thay sometimes open in flight you get 1 shot and thay are done i have shot and killed 3 deer with the same muzzy 125 broadhead in long shots if thay hit the shoulder blade thay 'Bounce off the deer WTF thay SUCK
well i hate expandible's and if there where anyone i would shoot it would be the rages my buddy shoots them and boy does it leave a huge hole but i just dont like its penitration power i have been shooting wasp sst 3 blade 100 g for a good 12 years and i will never shoot any other broadhead cuz those babys shoot threw everytime even if i hit a rib, shoulder blade. the rages are prolly the best expandible on the market but i still wont shoot it sorry.

I love the Rage stuff and I really like what they have for 2012.

H2OBlueShark 2 weeks ago
You do not have to change the O ring after every shot usually it will last 6 deer. All you have to do is sharpen the blades on a stone every two deer. I shot muzzys for three years and never lost one deer then my stepdad wanted to try rages one year. I didn't really have much to lose because I already had meat in the freezer. I ended up shooting a good seven point with one and blood bursted from his shoulder and ran 15 yards and dropped dead. Rages just get the job done faster not better.
TheQooper 1 month ago
The only thing I dont like about Rage is that you have to change the O ring after every shot, and that the blades dont always open up. I Have better luck with my muzzys not saying either is better than the other I just chose to use muzzy over Rage.

Sounds like you trying to make the pigs shit smell like perfume they ain't worth a ca ca I've lost 4 deer to them they don't open up all the time done lost two deer again this year hell two weeks ago was a three blade I got two deer with range one at 5yards and one spine follow up with a muzzy I got some and I'm putting them in a padded envelope and sending them back .gone back muzzy boy jus site your bow in with these muzzy and that's where they will hit broad head alignment must be the same o
conan566 3 months ago
At gman. What's your draw length! You prolly don't have enough kinetic energy for them! They came out with one called a 40ke
1986DeerHunter 4 months ago
i agree. ive never had any problems with rage. and i too was skeptical. but i got rage and i beleive in them 100 percent.
mahootska 4 months ago
i shot rage because i believed that they were good but i hit the deer just perfect my first shot at a deer ever.

@gman221412 u gotta have at least a 60 pound pullback for rage broadheads......

when you rage users graduate to real broadheads and stop using the training broahead for beginers then you will appreciate the challenge of archery.

people who use rages are the people who are just to lazy to practice with there equipment,,and they just hit the animal anywhere ,,and they think it will bleed to death.

PLOTTMAN55 9 months ago

RamBowMike 1 year ago
Has anyone tried the Grim Reapers? They are a top of the line mechanical that also manifests huge entrance & exit holes.
RamBowMike 1 year ago
@RamBowMike My cousin used them a little bit because he wanted to go against the grain of all us Rage guys. He still claims to like his Thunderheads the best. Reapers work pretty good from his kills I've seen. The damage is not quite as devastating as the Rage and he agrees. It's a great mechanical IMO. Only one way for you to find out for sure. Drop $39 and satisfy your curiosity. I don't think you'll be disapointed in Reapers but Rage makes bigger holes IMO. Neither is a bad choice.
GLOCKCOPG23 1 year ago
@GLOCKCOPG23 Have you checked out the new Ramcat broadheads? Technology and science has developed a new and superior fixed broadhead called the Ramcat. Check out the new Ramcat on YouTube.
RamBowMike 1 year ago
@RamBowMike I have seen them in catalogs and they do seem to be "wicked" as you termed it. Looks like it will be a pretty good slayer. I don't think you'll see a great difference between them and your Muzzy's because the Muzzy as you already know is one damned good broadhead. RamCat is one mean looking head though. Make sure the RamCat shoots straight through your bow first. Might need a tweek or two. Good luck tomorrow, brother. I too will be out there looking to "harpoon" a monster. Rage On!
GLOCKCOPG23 1 year ago
@RamBowMike We wanted to compare rage and grim reapers this year so my dad shot reapers and i shot rage. we both harvested 2 deer. the rage definately leave a bigger hole and seemed to penetrate more. my deer didn't make it quite as far as his did (all shots were lung/heart shots) in my opinion the rage worked better but both are great broadheads! good luck with whatever you choose!
bowhunter853 1 year ago
All you skeptics of RAGE have a few issues that need to be addressed.
1. You are making marginal shots on deer and need to spend more time at the range
2. The other complaint im reading is that the O-rings wear out after one shot.....well guess what thats why each pack of RAGE comes with replacement O-rings taped inside on the back??? Probably threw them away huh?
All Heads are great that are on the market today compared to 10 years ago even. A bad shot is no reason to buy new heads! PRACTICE

cmack003 1 year ago
Mechanical broad heads are never 100% void of failure, where a non mechanical can never have failure: This is why I put my faith in Muzzy.
RamBowMike 1 year ago
@RamBowMike yes sir American made.
cmack003 1 year ago
@cmack003 Rage broadheads don't have strong enough blades and they always have to be replaced even after one shot. The blades come off the O-ring even when in my quiver and each time I put em back, they get looser and often deploy while just sitting on my arrow rest. I just don't care for em. Rage blades are like Tin-Foil: This is why I like Muzzy! I can kill 10 deer with the same Muzzy.
RamBowMike 1 year ago
@RamBowMike Wow! You must be the only person on the planet that has not had a damaged blade on a Muzzy. Seriously, sarcasm aside, all broadhead blades can and will get damaged. "Replace Rage blades after one shot"?? DON'T BELIEVE IT! After 14 animals we have replaced exactly "4" blades, not complete broadheads but just "4" single blades. That ain't bad, brother. Don't get me wrong, Muzzy is a great head but it get's dammaged too. Why do you think they offer replacement blades. Good luck Oct 1.
GLOCKCOPG23 1 year ago
@GLOCKCOPG23 The Muzzy blades are thicker than most other broad heads and I have never had a Muzzy blade bend on me, dulled yes, but never bent. If I was to ever use a mechanical it would be the Grim Reaper: (Check out the youtube video called grim reaper broad heads) The design and materials are far superior to the rage. But I don't like mechanicals and my bow is perfectly tuned so field points and broad heads fly the exact same.
RamBowMike 1 year ago
i love Rage too, best broadhead on the market, and probably will stay the best broadhead, BUT i do have one problem with them, they made the locking device on the blade a little too long which is making the lip catch on the O-ring and making it hard as hell for the blades too open up.
ILOVEASHLEYMICHELE 1 year ago
i seen a buddy hit a monster 10 point with a rage in the shoulder at 20 yards he is drawing 70lbs ,the arrow only went in 3 inches never even bled one week later i shot the 10 point at 45 yards quarterd away pass through the front shoulder with a muzzy so when it comes to bone muzzy is the way to go , use what you like but look at how much connetic energy you lose with a mechanical , just sayin , but thanks to my friend useing rage , i have the county record bow kill hangin on my wall !!

@69C10lowrider Ya,...OK. Nice "STORY". Care to show us the documentation of that "county record" or some pictuers of the Rage failure/old wound? Didn't think so.
BadAxeOutfitters2010 1 year ago
i actually use "hellrazors" not mechanical but extremely accurate and sharp. i dont need mechanicals, cavemen and indians tied a pointed stone to their arrows and still killed animals, and a sharp triple razor edged broadhead also does the trick without a problem.

@ParadoxGuitarist1 well do you no how many fps ur bow is but yea it will defenlty kill one at 20 yards but id u hit it in the sholder it probly wont but ive hit em with my matthews sett on 60 pounds and they never run more then 80 yards... but i shoot the nap bloodrunners now in my opinion i like them beter then the rage beacause wen u put the rage in a quiver they open nd i always cut my self trynna close then the bloodrunners are really good with 50 pounds the bloodrunners would be beter

bucksk8 1 year ago
@bucksk8 Cool man. Thanks for all the help.
ParadoxGuitarist1 1 year ago
@ParadoxGuitarist1 A Rage will smoke any deer out there with a 50 lb bow. I'd stay away from the Blood Runners in a 50 lb bow because the Blood Runners have a huge fat body that hampers penetration. Rage is way better. Rage even has a "40KE" broad head for lighter pound bows which will offer really good penetration at the slower velocity of a lower pound bow. My father in law uses a 58 lb draw and I use 65 lbs with regular 2 blade Rage with fantastic results. No animal ran more than about 40yrds
GLOCKCOPG23 1 year ago
@GLOCKCOPG23 Thanks but I went to my local archery shop and gut some other kind but i don't know what there called.I might use rage when I get a stronger bow which will be soon.

The T3's cost as much as the Rage but are reuseable and don't dull as quickly.
diego111993 1 year ago
I used to bow hunt and had no problems with my broadheads flyin' to where I aimed - but I guess the new Rage broadheads are good too - never shot one.
But the purpose of my post is to let you all know why that all of a sudden this fellow had trouble with eractic performance of his Muzzy broadheads - it is global water heater warming. You see the steam in the air heats up the blades on the broadheads and gives them strange lift patterns. I checked this with Al Bore.

huntbyscent 1 year ago
cutting diameter is simply too large. keep shooting them and eventually you will regret it. there's a reason mechanicals constantly change. there's also a reason that most fixed blades have been exactly the same for twenty years. no need to improve something that works just fine. as for tuning, todays three hundred fps+ bows make it very hard to shoot good old reliable braodheads. my 1990 bear silent hunter shoots 242fps and i wackem and stackem as good as anyone out there.
briargoatkilla 1 year ago

edw6727 2 years ago 17
Im giving you five stars based on the presentation... just liked your style... However i dont like or use mechanical broadheads... I think the only truely RELIABLE broadhead is a two or three blade FIXED BLADE broadhead.... but thats just me.. I also dont see the reasoning in chosing lightweight heads when most shots are taken 30 yards and under... a sharp 150 gr+ COC broadhead will outpenetrate and outkill an 85gr Mechanical all day long... Everyones caught up in the hype..

TheMrCexel 2 years ago
Tell your friend to place his shot better next time, and bone up on your tracking skills. Finally, don't blame your inefficiencies on inanimate equipment. There are broadheads out there with a 3/4" cutting diameter that can put a deer down if the shot is placed correctly, so a 2" diameter is plenty.
There are plenty of videos on this site(type in Rage, click on doe hunt very graphic) that show this broadhead leaves slasher movie style blood trails. Practice please.
bobschaer 2 years ago
it was a perfectly place shot the arrow didnt even penetrate the animal
TheMrCexel 2 years ago
I'm not buying that at all. I don't know about where you're from, but here in Illinois the minimum poundage for a hunting bow is 40 pounds, and that will easily penetrate an animal. So an adult using a 60lb. bow should be able to push any arow with any broadhead right through a shoulderblade inside 40 yards with ease.
bobschaer 2 years ago
he is using 55 pounds so im going to try them out on a deer

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything but @55lbs a bow should be making about 76lb/ft of kinetic energy and should put anything but a small game bludger head through a shoulder.

hey great vid. And to all of you people who dog mechanical broadheads or rage shoot slow ass bows my monster xlr8 80lb pull shoot muzzies as good as you could fly without wings. i almost cant hit the target at 10 yards because they fly all over. The only two broadheads i recommend are rage and spitfire they both shoot great through my bow and blow through any deer. If your to stupid and shoot the deer through there shoulders then nothing is goin to penatrate very well and you should go practice

rage rocks!!! they're amazing.. they will tear a deer to pieces but shot placement is still extremely important

I use the 3 blade rage mechanical broad heads and I have never had an issue with them.
Specv20176 2 years ago
I gotta tell you, I don't know what you guys are doing with your broadheads to be complaining about the Rage. I've been using them for 3 years and never had a problem. Never open in flight, always leave a gaping hole, blood trail like a Halloween flick, and I've shot through my fair share of shoulderblades. And I've been tuning bows for 10 years and I can tell you a badly tuned bow means NO arrow will fly true, no matter what broadhead you use. Think Gobbler Guillotine.
bobschaer 2 years ago
Gotta tune your bow to make a fixed blade fly right thats why the guys at bow shops push those rage is because they dont have to tune the bows as well or put off set in their fletching. I have shot spitfires and killed many deer with no problems at all but switched to muzzys due to cost, I can buy 6 muzzys for the price of 3 rages, and its all about shot placement any way the muzzys penetrate and stick in the ground on the otherside everytime for me no lost deer with the muzzys for me....

rage is the only way to go!!!! this guy cracks me up... he keeps lookin back behind him to see if anything is coming. haha
hobbs9740 2 years ago
If you aint gonna use them muzzy's get aholt of me so I can buy them off you, Id rather have that muzzy burried 5 inches in the ground than a 2" wound chanell anyday. Hit bone with that rage and see what happens, it creates 2" of hinderence on your arrow!
georgiabuckdan 2 years ago
you spoke abaout lining up the muzy with the fletchings to make it fly right is there a certain way the rage is supose to screw in or can u screw it in and go i am going to shoot them and bow opens up here Oct.3 thanks

I just shot a deer in wisconsin with a rage 2 blade and it tore up the deer. we measured the wound channel and it was 3 1/2 inches the whole way through. INCREDIBLE

I would shoot it through the 200lb plus deer we have in ohio. Great broadhead Great results.

Hey Pepeto, I live in Illinois. You gonna try and tell me that we got small deer up here? And I've been using Rage 2 blade for the last three years. Never had a problem with them. Awesome bleed channels, and 4 out of 5 were shoot-throughs last year.
bobschaer 2 years ago
pepto i live in georgia and a mature deer wil get to be 200+ pounds so shut the hell up cuz u think u know it all and what our deer lack in weight we make up for in strength we are not pulling 30 pounds like u fags were pullin 90 pound bows so shut the fuk up u yank

I love the cutting power, for a fixed blade they shoot well, and they are available for a reasonable price (though you don't have to replace them often, I've gotten 3 seaons out of mine)
hiboy2004 2 years ago
jeffp51, I have never had a Rage open up in-flight. The only way that happens is if you are playing around with it too much, and wear out the o-ring. Just replace it, they give you three in a package. One and done is incorrect as well. This is my third season with the same Rage 2-blades, still going strong. And NO arrow shot correctly will bounce off a shoulder. Not even a field point.

try the grim reapers ive used rage and reapers love the reapers they do more damage

rage suck's thay sometimes open in flight you get 1 shot and thay are done i have shot and killed 3 deer with the same muzzy 125 broadhead in long shots if thay hit the shoulder blade thay 'Bounce off the deer WTF thay SUCK
jeffp51 2 years ago
3 years ago I had a muzzy 3 blade 100gr bounce off a doe's shoulder blade from 25 yards. my bow was at 55lbs draw.
actionsports111 2 years ago
well i hate expandible's and if there where anyone i would shoot it would be the rages my buddy shoots them and boy does it leave a huge hole but i just dont like its penitration power i have been shooting wasp sst 3 blade 100 g for a good 12 years and i will never shoot any other broadhead cuz those babys shoot threw everytime even if i hit a rib, shoulder blade. the rages are prolly the best expandible on the market but i still wont shoot it sorry.
