Perhaps you shall think it in the other way. All the shrimp factories in the world lease this patterned machines. Why? Because it is the cheapest way than any other ways to peel a shrimp. You buy a 1 pound frozen shrimp cost about $8 in the super market, which contains about 10 to 20 count. The out of door price from the factory won't over $3 dollars. The cost to process (labor, factory, instant freezer, peeling machine, electricity...) shall not exceed $1 per 20....
I could swear I read that 20 years ago there was only a few machines in the United States that could shell shrimp. Thanks for posting this I always wondered how they did this. Good thing I got some shrimp in the freezer because now i am hungry.

Great Machine, however. It probably won't do good in Asia since Asians like their shrimp whole, shell, legs, head and all. It taste better that way.

No. according to the Ryan Dagostino's 2009 new book "Richer like Them", this machine is for lease only.
