It is possibly an early 1970's model to mid 1970's as in the mid 1970's, the replaced it with the Total Tone Deluxe organ series. You are playing with the vibrato as I would recommend turing it off and use the built in Leslie as it will sound much better. Vibrato sounds much better on brass, string, but not on Tibia/Flute sounds.
If you are in the market for your very first organ then I highly recommend a Wurlitzer like the 4373A. My Wurlitzer 625t is also a quite amazing instrument. The Orbit synthesizer may appear limited, but in fact it is very versatile. I've had my 625t ( purchased for $100 in it's pristine condition from Craigslist. Only the portamento for the Orbit synth doesn't work, but easily repairable. All parts & schematics for Wurlitzer are STILL available at Morelocks in Mississippi.
Have you finished getting your electrostatic organ going. I'd love to hear it! I did write you on another video saying I have a lead on a 1946 Wurlitzer Model 31 Orgatron with the rotary cabinet. Hope to get it soon.
Question: If you could have either a nice Wurlitzer model 4500 ( 25 ped console w/ theater tabs, Spectra Tone ) - OR- a Baldwin HT2 ( 32 ped console w/ theater tabs & both organs are 1964 first time solid state models) which model would you take? Ease of repair? Which sounds Btr?
It is an early 1970's to mid 1970's model. After this organ, they started manufacturing the Total Tone deluxe spinet organ with just the new Orbit Synthesizer. I remember this model back in 1973 as my parents and I were looking into buy me a new organ.
I own a Wurlitzer model 4570 organ, built in 1972, which I assume is more or less the console equivalent of your 4373.
I really dig the sound of these old electronic Wurlitzers, especially with the vibrato on. It's a shame that these fine instruments are no longer being made.
The Orbit synthesizer went all the way to the end of 1970's. I did see a D series, digital Wurlitzer organ with one of the last Orbit Synthesizers before going into the Omni Computer Keyboard series manufactured by Hohner. Wurlitzer no longer makes organs any more as Baldwin now owns the trade name.
Hi friend. Nice videos. Do you know anything about the Wurlitzer consoles that were introduced in the 70's with a "BrassHorn" attachment and "Rythem Box"? I'd like more information on these wonderfulk home organs. I have the Horn and Rythem box . The Organ my family had was given to our church. I'd love to aquire another one. thanks so much, John
Thanks for adding this! It's been about 11 years since I heard you play this. Nice! (And if I'm not mistaken, that's a copy of The Organists' Manual on the music rack.)
Hi Retrochad, I've listened to your music before on your other videos with the organs and you play very well. Did you learn music in school and private lessons, or are you naturally gifted and self taught? I took organ lessons when I was in college but only know the very basics. My specialty instruments are drums, piano, keyboard and voice. Check out my keyboard videos if you haven't yet.
Thanks for your comments...I did take a year of organ lessons when I was in college and took piano lessons when I was in middle school and high school.
do you have any lowreys? I just got a magic genie model 44 and I'm still trying to figure out all of the features. do you know much about the expression pedal?
@retrochad Wow!! I'm working on getting my first one pretty soon. I have been a piano player since I was 5 or 6 years old, and absolutely love the sound of the organ. I have played the organ before, but its been a long time.
Wow that brings back so many memories. I grew up on a 4373 and just hearing the sound again makes me think about all the times I've had that thing torn apart trying to keep it running. Then just as I had it in mint shape, an electrical storm shorted out most of the power supply and amplifier. It was one of my favorite instruments.

Wurlitzer organs are creepy sounding! but in a really good way, I can see these having a lot of potential for being in newer songs.
