yeh it's easy mate, it's not inside the gearbox, the thing i was hitting with a hammer, the inners have gone in that (very small spring,GRRR) you could easily fix the steering stem on your quad yourself you know, look in the haynes manual under steering.
once we have both fixed our broken and battered quads do you wanna go back to the swamp and see if we can make it this time?lol

id probibly make a mess of it, the quad needs a proper going over now anyway having had it almost a year
