  • In the Marines, they make you do a lot more than 3 pull-ups.

  • this guy makes it look easy

  • THATS ALL? im 13 202lbs and i can do much better at pull ups doing 73 perfect ones in a row with no stops, no kipping and from DEAD hang.

    But nice try. :)

  • Very good form. That's what I like to see!

  • i can 1 pulls up

  • I can do maybe 7 pushing it. It's fucking hard.

  • When the marine does the pull-up portion of the physical fitness test, does he have the choice to either do chin-ups or pull-ups?

  • @NStone88 Yes. They may use any grip the want. The only real rules for this portion of the fitness test is that you can't kick and you have to go all the way down, extending your arms completely or it doesn't count. Each pullup is worth 5 points on the PFT. 3 is the minimum to pass and 20 is a perfect score.

  • which one is the easiest for you.?

  • funny this video is simply about pull-ups yet everyone is bitching and moaning about politics.

  • can you do chin ups in boot?

  • In bt does it mater how u do them?

  • Wow, anybody want to comment on the actual video?

  • great...........

  • So I'm observing palms away or towards you makes no difference? Im doing the PFT at the end of may for the PLC at Quantico. Are officers goin to see underhand pullups as weak?

  • I do the 2nd pull-up what that guy done in the video.

I'm 13yrs old average of pull-up per session is 3-5 pull-up my record is 8 LOL

    and I hurt my shoulders.

  • good job marine

  • Dead hangs....we were allowed to "kick up" when I as enlisted. Sit ups were done with hands behind your head also.

  • I am signing my papers to enlist in the Marine Corps in less than 10 months, can anyone offer any advice or tips to me on what I need to be prepared for? Like how many pull-ups/chin-ups, how far do I need to run, how many sit-ups/crunches, etc?

  • @MrUsmarines nothing will prepare for the mental aspect u just have to go everyday saying i will be the best physical be able to run 5 miles trie to make 2 of them a 6 min if u can crank 50 proper pushups mean head up 100 situps and 10 pull ups chinups you will be more than fine remember thiers alot of fat bodys if u can do what i just said you will be one of the top in paris island by the end of ur 12 weeks

  • wow, thats a lot of stuff i need to work on then, thanks

  • Lol I don't know about US marines, but if you want something approximately know for what to prepare, I can tell you

specifications on physical culture for pretendents to join military/police/kgb institutes/academies in Russia (and for school pupiles who ending school):

    3 km run (~2 miles): 12 minutes 20 secounds

    (1 mile = 1,6 km)

    Pull-ups: 14

    crunches (during 1 minute): 55

    ski 5 km - 25 minutes

  • @Scoutrussp7 yea but fuck russia though

  • @MrUsmarinesrule Just a pointer alot of people who do pull ups us just there arms try doing to exercise while using both your arms and back. it may sound weird but when you try the pull up and focus on using your stronger back muscle you'll see it makes a difference you may only be able to add 2 maybe 3 more reps but you'll see quicker results when working both muscles

  • Apart from the physical aspect which most people focus on you might want to prepare yourself in the other fields. For example, learn the first part of the marine hymn, a little bit of the rifle creed, the ranks of the marine corps, the 11 general orders for a sentry, the marine core values, some parts of the M16A4 rifle, and the drill and ceremony basics. Might also help to know some marine corps history. This would avoid having to learn them there under stress.

  • the bare minimum amount of pull ups to be enlisted is 3 but shoot for around 30 especially if your going to be going into the infantry

  • @yokedev I thought the maximum was twenty, then they stop counting.

  • @Killermuffin1 yea it is but i was just saying shoot for 30 so you will definetly be able to ace the mcfpt

  • @MrUsmarinesrule Why, why would you want to serve a president, that never showed his Birth Certificate.

  • its not that I want to serve him, I want to serve my country

  • Then join a milita, milita was formed by our founding fathers to put the Gov in check. Our constitution dont matter anymore to these clowns in DC, and our military wont do anything about it cuz they dont want to be court martialed. If they had guts they would DEMAND obama to show his Birth Certificate, untill then our constitution is a past thing.

  • I disagree, the men and women in the military have more courage than we can imagine, and there is no milita near where I live, and I probably wouldnt join one anyway because they are mainly just a bunch of unorganised pissed off people. The Marines have a structure that we need right now

  • Militia are against the law. But join one anyway (or start your own). Just don't try to re-take the country if the federal government fails. (read "The Postman")

  • Don't be silly. Obama is the President. Period. Bush was the president even though people weren't sure if he won the first election. Period.

Military men understand. And follow orders. Only cheap weaselly little civilians argue about crap like this. I don't give a shit. He wears the presidential ring.

  • @zyou8er Obama's probably going to be a one-term president anyway. Don't get too worried.

  • @zyou8er so ignorant and stupid

  • You call me Ignorant & Stupid, Yet you dont even know me. You call me that, because i did some research and found out that, A CERTIFICATION OF LIVE BIRTH, is NOT a BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Yet obama has spent over $1.7 mill to fight all the law suits that would make him show his BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

  • Its okay, i understand. I was just like you man. When one would bring that point up, the one that Obama was not born in USA, i would call him stupid also. But, i took 10 minutes out of my time to do some READING and searching and i have a different view of things now.

  • dang who does those last types those are hard...chin ups are the easiest for most people,at least me.

  • what is the mcpft?

  • mcpft = marine corps physical fitness test

  • Perfect execution. For the pull-up event in the MCPFT, are you allowed to do chin-ups?

  • Yes, you are allowed to do either pullups or chinups, and you are even allowed to switch grips while hanging on the bar. Just as long as you dont kip, swing, touch the beams holding up the bar, or dismount the bar.

  • so...

you can do both chinups and pullups?

can you substitute one for the other?

    like...can I do no pull-ups but do 20 chinups?

to substitute the PFT maximum of 20 dead-hang pullups?

  • Yes, you can do either all chinups, or all pullups. They both count the same.
