fuck anybody that bitches about the sound quality!!! THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT THAT! ACCEPT THESE VINTAGE VIDEOS FOR WHAT THEY ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BE GRATEFUL SOMEONE EVEN UPLOADED THIS INCREDIBLE MOMENT TO THE DIGITAL WORLD!!!!!
Dionne is not dead, silly. Aretha died last year of heart failure, though. It is very tragic, but the queen lives on in our hearts. Glad Dionne is paying respect by performing one of Aretha's few crossover hits.
@baybaygotgroove LOL aretha franklin is not dead nor is dionne warwick aretha did have a health scare but she pulled through and is doing fine.No i dont know her personaly I did see in a recent interview where she discussed the rumers
Billboard's #94 song of '85. Aretha hit #2 soul, #7 pop, in Billboard. It's fittin' that Dionne covered it, 'cause, her cousin's Whitney Houston, who lovin'ly calls Aretha, Auntie 'Ree. God bless, and Merry Christmas!
@Mitube she died last year.. could never control her weight... thats why dionne had to cover this song.. RIP Aretha , your demons (food, alcohol) finally caught up with her
@Doubleshot98 I meant Dionne was on Celebrity Apprentice. Look, they're both alive. Look it up on the internet. Unless you have further proof that they're dead, then this discussion is finished.
i remember watching this performance on solid gold back in the day with my older bro, we was like dayum, no she did not do aretha's song and made it better ! lol
The great Dionne Warwick, doing a Ree song, what a treat. anytime you can hear a great singer doing another great singers song justice, you sit back and enjoy the magic.
unlike todays singers where they lip synch the magic.
Just great Dionne, The Queen must have been pleased.
She has always saved her main power for live performance. I think recorded version were recorded differently for sales and promotion. A excellent singer loves to save room for many vocal surprises for concert singing!!! Dionne is famous for that!!@!
DAMN! Dionne could have recorded this song and had success with it too! Go Dionne! Gotta love her, especially how she took this song and made it her own.
Well I have to give it to Dionne, I didn't think she had the power to handle this.. boy was I wrong... get it girl! I aint mad... why didn't she ever record more songs using power vocals? Loved it thanks for postin
Interesting question songbird I think it was simply because at the beginning of Dionne's career her recorded work was 'pop' based. Check out some of Dionne other videos especially the live versions, trust the lady got plenty of power!!
an interesting and varied cover. dionne warwick's version is really good as she puts her own spin to this classic track. i'd never thought that a singer of her calibre would cover one of aretha's hits, and do it rather well in fact

Wow! I like how Dionne made this song into her own! Very great performance! I actually like her's as much as Aretha's...

Whitney Houston may be the first cousin to Dionne Warwick, but musically speaking, this song is the first cousin to How Will I Know!

Is this an imitation? :(

Yes It Is! Sorry Dionne... but Aretha can only sing this. Period.

I DID NOT know Dionne could do THAT? I totally underestimated her abilities! Time to look her up! That note was nice...

Truth is Aretha and Dionne passed songs around to each other during the 60's. (Bacharach songs)to be more specific.
rufus317 3 years ago 11
There's a duet of them singing Say a little Prayer for You which I like a lot.

why would aretha's relative of all people try to coopt her song?

Dionne just has a thru-the-roof lovability factor... You just want to love her all over, she's such a brilliant soul.
wish the audio weren't so crummy here... Upload HIGH QUALITY AUDIO, you guys!

Yeah Dionne really worked this...I have to agree that it's much better than Aretha's.

I hear ya... but as the 80s went on she stuck to a more subdoed stucato type of singing... but now I know babe...she had the pipes...
