Where can you buy a hedgehog? Do people breed them like dogs or are they in special pet stores?

Pet stores sell them; however, it is highly discouraged to buy one from there. Usually, the workers do not treat them properly. Hedgehogs should always be bought from a breeder. Go to hedgehogcentral(.)com, for a list of breeders per state. In some states, they are illegal to own.

Yes they do suck at handling hedgies. I purchased mine from a Pet store (no breeders in my area :( ) but I was lucky to have gotten her as soon as she was released from quarantine ^__^ (so they only had her for a night.)

No, there are alot of differant colors in hedgehogs. They are colored from very similiar to very differant! lol. You'll have to ask her about color. It is hard to tell what color in the videos.

depending where you live but i live in bc canada and they range from 130-160 dpeneding on color. obviously the brown ones are most common so theyre about the cheapest ones you can get. 130. if you can find a breeder its obviously cheaper. by how much i dont know thought. ha, sorry =p

omg i just got my first hedge hog today and it is so cute!!!!!! the thing is it wont let me pick it up with my bare hands i can only pick it up with gloves on can someone send me a tell on how to make him notice my smell faster so he will like me and let me pick him up and i dont haft to get prickled by his things lol oh and he is a regular one and black

you shouldnt use gloves to pick them up, use like a towel or cloth, if ya have any question ask me I could Answer some but to get him to notice your smell sleep with a shirt and then put it in his cage so he could get use to that smell, dont wear any smell material like perfume or lotion when handling them you will confuse them and they wont know your smell

hedgehogs become really attached to one person, with this person the feel the most comfortable, they still always are not in the best mood when u pick them up from their home, but they will warm up to you quicker if you are their own and closest friend :-)

yep my little baby is adorable :) and in response to whoever asked: his quills don't hurt. if he gets scared, he'll flex muscles along his spine to make the quills stand up, and then he is like a pincushion and that isn't too comfortable. but he's relaxed most of the time with me, unless a loud noise startles both of us haha
