Basically, I know of Yul because of Survivor, so my references are from the person I saw. I would have to say that he is by far the most diplomatic and intelligent player I have ever seen. His intelligence did not come with arrogance, just a statement of facts, how he interpreted situations and what would be the proper recourse.
His level of both professionalism and gentle dealing with "hiccups" showed he was fully rooted in his goals and mindsets. By far my favorite Survivor.

The Asian IQ average has a much narrower standard deviation than the White IQ average; this means that despite the higher average, the vast majority of East Asians actually have pretty ordinary IQ scores, with few extremes. Thus, fewer morons but also fewer geniuses. The last part is why East Asia, with all its millions upon millions upon millions of people, is not responsible for anywhere as many breakthroughs as little Europe.

Basically, I know of Yul because of Survivor, so my references are from the person I saw. I would have to say that he is by far the most diplomatic and intelligent player I have ever seen. His intelligence did not come with arrogance, just a statement of facts, how he interpreted situations and what would be the proper recourse.
His level of both professionalism and gentle dealing with "hiccups" showed he was fully rooted in his goals and mindsets. By far my favorite Survivor.

One of the most deserving winners in all of Survivor. Watching Yul, you get the sense that he really would have done as much to see anyone on his team win as he would for himself. He is intelligent and respectful and had one of the most level heads and calmest rational of any Survivor I can think of. Glad he won.

And the majority also benefit from having a diverse populace, which is one of the reason why US immigration policy is still quite open.

Now having said that, whether he tackled the stereotypes of asian males? I'm not quite sure. A Yale Law graduate with a solid career who appeared on national reality TV? Don't get me wrong. You're talking about impact/longevity.
Granted reality tv winners only have their 15 mins in the spotlight, this guy at least did something useful with those 15 minutes, and did change the opinion of the stereotypes of at least some non-asians that did see him win. It's a step in the right direction. It takes time for these stereotypes to die down, and i have optimism for the future.

Optimism is good. But haven't we waited enough? If you're referring to the stereotypes of being non athletic geeks who can't talk but excel in every written exams? In that case then the answer is close to 'Yes'. But why aren't there any Margaret Cho's with dicks? Of course, to see a clown who acts like a rapper-wannabe will be a disaster. However, frankly speaking, sometimes I kinda think we aren't that willing or not able to change the Male Status(in a primitive sense) we currently have.

There is a rapper that was relatively big for a couple years, a few years back, called Jin. He's quite respected in the hiphop community.
Regarding the rest of your post, I do think a lot of it is because yes, asian males aren't willing to change the male status. What doesn't help with this is the fact that there is a lack of help from the females (especially when you see a lot running to other races), an unsupportive media portrayal. It leads to asian males lacking confidence to do anythin

Speaking of the confidence issue, imo that has to get fixed not by getting the highest paying job or by hiring some gay dating coach but by learning & understanding the culture that belittled us all those years without our noticing. How? In my case, by talking listening listening & listening to my family (especially my dad) and cherishing the goods and discarding the bads. Confidence comes from knowing who you are.

Survivor cook islands was by far the best survivor series in my opinion. they allowed each race to fight out for victory. Yul was the one me and my mom were rooting for the whole time. Because It was awesome to see another fellow korean represent :]

Yul is an exception, but exceptional to the rule is not the rule. On per capita, East Asian males currently have less hunks or hotshots than any other male race. Truth hurt doesn't it?

not really. Yul Kwon is not that much of good looking anyways among good looking asian guys. what american media show isn't everything. go expose yourself to asian media and see how many good looking guys there are. it's true on avg. american caucasian male is still one inch taller than avg korean male. but it's only an inch, and it's not that much. plus, koreans' height is increasing at a far higher rate than americans. so sooner or later, they'll all be equal.

I saw that stats too. Americans make a big deal about how tall they are but does 1 freakin inch make that much difference? Nooooo. lol.
I remember overhearing a fat white lady making a comment about how Asians are bringing down the height stats for US, so I walked up to her and told her that it was Asians that is bringing down the weight stats for US. I walked away with a smile on my face remembering how she looked both embarrassed and angry. :)

@petiteasiahoney asians also live longer on average than whites or blacks and tend to test higher in IQ tests. i find it pitiful how each racial groups only want to bring out the most negative stereotypes about the others to make themselves feel better. I suppose it's one of the ugly side of us as humans.

@bluemonolith88 IQ averages don't tell the whole story. The Asian IQ average has a much narrower standard deviation than the White IQ average; this means that despite the higher average, the vast majority of East Asians actually have pretty ordinary IQ scores, with few extremes. Thus, fewer morons but also fewer geniuses. The last part is why East Asia, with all its millions upon millions upon millions of people, is not responsible for anywhere as many breakthroughs as little Europe.

@SiriusLumino many people who came up with historically significant breakthroughs did not excel in school academically or had extremely high IQ. it's also true because there are so many variables when it comes to IQ and race, i can easily come up with the opposite conclusion as you did regarding standard deviation. there are books that came up with often opposite conclusions about IQ and race. let's not get silly and try to do that debate on this silly comment section.

@bluemonolith88 A pathetic argument. Some geniuses reported feeling bored with a routine curriculum (lack of interest = bad performance), and very few inventors have had their IQs tested. However, it is notable that nations with the highest # of geniuses have the highest # of technological breakthroughs. If high IQ was not essential, all nations would have about the same number of breakthroughs; this is obviously not the case.

Idk what Asians you've seen or you know, but I know lots of Asian males, and they are NOT typically asexual geeky losers. That's rediculous. At my high school, it was like 1/3 black, 1/3 Asian, and 1/3 Latino, so a lot of my friends were Asian, and none of them were what you described.

Asians, most of the time, are foreigners, can't speak english, or have heavy accent, or chinese martial artists and nerds in most movies. Personally, I've never seen an asian american saving the world from evil in movies. Never seen. I have seen tons of movies where a black or white dude who is an american and saving the world from evil. In Forbidden Kingdom, Jackie and Jet play secondary stereotypical roles, while a white boy plays the leading role. Same crap.

Also my physician is a Chinese American (born in America) and he rocks! He is so nice, easy to talk to, intelligent, and I completely respect him. I used to work for a Chinese American engineer, and when I was really sick for the longest time with a bad cold, he went to a chinese pharmacy in China Town, San Francisco and bought me some cold pills that are so superior to anything on American store shelves.
