  • Good Luck!

  • I see you also have the UM740. Just wondering what car holder you've used? I had to use a standard goose-neck and replace the rear mount of the screen with a standard phone clip holder.

  • Whell, I make my own holder.

But I will try to make embed in the dashboard.

    Regards

  • nice work.

where can I get plugin igo8 for centrafuse?

  • There is no plugin for Igo, I just put as external aplication, and resize the screen in sys for 800x455

  • Otherwise, you might want to use Sygic Drive 7.5 as an alternative. IMHO it compares very closely to Tomtom (with a few more nifty features such as signpost) and it embeds easily with centrafuse and FreeICE without needing screen resize stuff. So far, I tried IGO, Destinator, iGuidance and Tomtom on PC/PNA and I'd say TomTom remains the best. However, you won't find an easy way to get a Windows version of TomTom. Therefore, the second best I recommend (for UK in particular) is Sygic.

  • True, I also have Sygic in CF, so far the best, offcourse I like more the graphics of Igo, but the future is Sygic drive, they are making A gps Software for in car navigation to cars manufactures.

    regards

  • I reckon you'll face the same problem I have. You'll probably need to make a custom dash enclosure to set the mimo high enough to be useful for satnav. I've received my order for some plaster of paris and fibreglass today. Wish me luck!

  • Hi Kevin, yep is true!

    I´m considering some options.

Do you have a project somewere? digitalcar, mp3car? I wanto to follow your project too.

    Thanks and good luck ;)

  • Unfortunately not yet. I think it would be really useful to do that since i could get help from others on how to proceed when I hit a wall. I'll try to send some pics asap. However, I'm using a Dell Mini9 laptop for the project, which is why it's making things more complicated. The idea was to have a carpc that could be easily docked to the car and removed and used as a normal laptop otherwise.

  • Major issues faced:

    * Most laptops don't have the 'power on AC input' functionality in the bios.

    * Cooling. The mini9 is not the best choice for a carpc as it has no fans and in summer the performance can degrade rapidly if not ventilated enough.

    * I had to hack the dell power switch to provide two external pins (PSON headers) and link that to an ITPS voltage regulator unit.

    * Need to create a custom fibreglass enclosure for the ITPS unit and the laptop so that I can screw it firmly in the boot.
