Is this the same video that they played on "NightFlite"? It'sd been an awful long time and I seem to remember similar camera effects but a slightly different subject matter . I seem to remember him battling a dragon in an unfinished tower or something . But Like I said it was a long time ago . I have loved this song since the very first time I heard it. It has the distinction of being one of the only Goth tracks that I would listen to at the time.
I used to listen this particular track in awe, now I realize that it has "Bono" written all over it. I hate U2, it's disgusting. Goddamn it, I loved this piece...
Great song, shame about the video. Brings back memories. Watched them from the balcony at Newcastle City Hall just after Children had gone to number one. Think I was the only one in the crowd who didn't have black hair and lipstick! Great band.
For those who doubt that gothic rock and Led Zeppelin could make such cozy bedfellows, check this video out. Oh yeah, If you weren't aware of this little fact, John Paul Jones from Zep produced this album for The Mish. They had originally asked Jimmy Page, but the story goes that he said no, not that having Jonesie at the helm was "settling" by any means. Children remains a milestone and one of their most shining achievements. Now, where's my Swan Song shirt dammit!!! };^D
I haven't heard this song in years, thanks for posting this! This is one of my favorites, it has a really good energy about it. I always so good when I hear it!
This is the best song on earth! i can't name a better love song. the best version of this song is the bombay mix 11:24 it's a great dance song too! It's a must have in your cd collection!
@mybestdjpatrick I have played the bombay mix @ the Twilight Zone143-145 db 5' Tweak till the hairs on your neck would stand up and bass rattles your soul Amazing ...Godlike feeling ...Good times
Yep! One of those songs that one first heard on the radio and could not BELIEVE juust how unbelievably magnificent was the music coming across the airwaves at ya!! ACE!!! :¬D
This is an incredibly great song- but all sound effect noises & monster sounds they added in this video are hooky & tend to FUCK it up! Why did they have to that shit in :O(
Actually, the monster sounds are there to represent the darkness that he is being helped to avoid. They could have been done in a different and more appealing way, but I understand why they are there.
I saw the Mission UK at The Ritz on 11th street on Gods Own Medicine tour and for Children. John Paul Jones who produced this great album and song, came up and played keys on this one during that Children show. Awesome. Love this song...First 3 albums rule (Gods Own Medicine, First Chapter, and Children).
I loved this from when it first came out in the 80s here in the UK, THE Goth Anthem, but never saw this video till now. Check the Vicar! This is what a Man of God should be, implacable in the face of Evil, not backing down, protecting the gentle. If they got a regiment of those into the Church instead of the pantywaists they have now, the pews would be full to bursting and then some more out in the street.
The gods wrote this song, gave the lyrics to Wayne and told him to dedicate it to his beautiful daughter. Afterwards Ingmar Bergman came back from the dead just to direct this music video. It was and is one of the most momentous occasions in alternative rock n' roll.
brilliant song!

Heard it on Live105 and had the cassette 2 days later.
Look carefully at the introduction for the video as it incorrectly states Tower Of Power as the title. That makes this video a collectors item.
