  • Im goin in about 2 weeks.. Are there many rapids?

  • Comment removed

  • I was there in July and we camped at the same campsite shown at 0:32! So good to see the places again.

  • I am going to national and worldwide Jamboree's but next year I can either go to Philmont or Northern Tier which one?

  • Well that depends what you want to do.

Philmont has lots of actives like horse back riding, shot gun, or mountains climbing. another is scene the wildlife is very used to people you may see some animals like bears. Also you don't have to carry all the food you'll need though the entire trek.

NT is very wilderness. You won't see many people (unless it 4th of July weekend) or wildlife. You can change your route if you want to get more or less miles. Also you can swim at just about any time....

  • although the waters at some lakes can be very cold.

down sides to NT: You have to carry all the gear, food, and trash that you get or accumulated though the trek. Also the MISQUOTES are mutants. They go though 100% deet so if you go some other type of insect repellent that's not deet, use it!

overall they both have there perks. I guess it would come down to it whether you like Hiking or canoeing more.

  • im going there wednesday

  • well hope you have a great trip

  • Oh, and if you plan to film your trip, I recommend the Waterproof 'Action Cam' by Oregon Scientific. It's about $150.

  • hm.... I'll think into that.

  • Here are a couple of my tips.

    1) Don't wear Smart Wool socks. They take forever to dry. Gobi Sock Liners are good, you can just wear those alone and you'd be fine.

    2) Bring a SHITLOAD of bug spray. You're going to need it.

    3) Be prepared for choppy waters when it's windy. On our 4th day on the water, we got flipped over because the waves splashed over the gunnels, and we took in too much water. (Too bad I didn't get THAT on film.)

    And most importantly,

    4)Don't do anything STUPID.

  • yep those are very good tip. another tip just dont stay out after dark for to long because that when the misquito's are realy present.

  • We used misquotes nets that really help, especailly when portaging since the misquotes like to get up under ur canoe and attack ur face

  • It's me, joeytrask. (I run the troop's YouTube account as well.)

Got back from Northern Tier and bought back video of our entire trip. (As promised) I haven't uploaded all of the videos yet. (I filmed almost 2 hours of footage, and it takes a long time to edit.) These videos can be viewed on my troop's channel.

  • hey cool pics i leaven for n-tier augest 8 08

were you from and what troop number

  • Troop 85 Beavercreek, Ohio

  • i hope in a few day to have my philmont photo video done.

  • is that edy falls at 3:19?

  • i acctuly dont think this one has a name. this is a water fall we heard a distance off the trail. if i remeber correctly that water fall is by the South Arm Knife Lake & (a lake NE of the kecekobic lake & ponds).

  • thanks for the comments have a good time up there.

  • for the drive (if you are driving) just make sure you have somthing to do like cards, ds, psp, (with chrger. you'll need it.), of if the veichel has tv in it then maybe a game console. it will be long for you guys. disance from ohio to MN is about 1,000 miles so it's probly going to be longer than that between Alabama to MN

  • thanks is there anything to remember while paddling?

  • hmm... i have to say the wilderness. i do remeber at night time hearing wolves in the distance.

now just realising i haven't said my troop. lol. beavercreek, ohio. troop 85

  • Do you have any tips I'm going this summer with troop 320 from Alabama?

  • well are you going though the base or the usa forest survice? im gussing base. well just be prepared for a lot of wet weather temps ranging from 40 degrees to about 100. becarful of the burned areas near little sagnaga lake. (see bwca trip 2007 video) um oh yeah. DONT EAT THE PORK CHOW MAIN MRE packets, there nasty.

Major thing to bring. have ALL SYNTHETIC /wool clothes. do NOT bring cotten or you will be dealing with rashes and blister becasue you will be wet.

Last just be in fit or

  • you may find your self tiered for the next few days

  • just though of another few tips. what ever you get, get the lightest thing of the items. these pack will be weighting about 50lbs+ so there going to be heavy.

Also the miscito's are mutants up there. 100% deet doesn't work very well. so i say try those other type of repelets.

  • YES,definetly be prepared for wet weather. NO COTTON. the tuna salad dinner isnt very good either.

  • Liked the video... I worked for northern tier the past few summers.

  • hey this is pretty sweet!! the camp at 12 seconds we stayed there too and we saw a Moose

  • acctuly it probley not. it not a camp site. that just a spot we picked out to eat lunch. later on we figuered out that spot was on the canada side.

  • yeah srry i haven't updated yet. im not the type of person to constanly work on one thing. i'll place up the second part and then place up my 2007 trip pictures as well.

  • I found this very helpful because my troop is going this summer.

  • glad it helped. you may want to watch the 2007 pictures as well becasue there will be pic's showwing an aftermath of wildfire.
