  • I am the ROCK and ROLL STAR referred to in this timeless rock classic tune . But remember this above all things - I ANSWER TO NO CREATURE . NOT THEN , NOT NOW , NOT NO WAY EVER .

  • Superb.

  • 1 person failed to become a rock and roll star.

  • brill lead guitar

  • Best session ever on LIVE TAPES double album of BJH.

Song for dreamers like all of us `80s fans !

  • all my life i listen this , thanks for share is so great listen something i lost for ages (since vynil) !

  • I remember John Lees' Alembic Customised Fender Stratocaster very well. A unique sound for a unique player. This track as brilliant as it is, must surely be a nod to the Eagles.

  • Yea, he looks like Felder in this video!

  • Flawless

  • great song

  • great song

  • awesome.

  • What a shame this band didn't make it big in the USA.

It's a shame also that 2 band members are deceased now.

  • Wonderful song!

    But, it's John Lees????

  • feten

  • These guys were proper musicians, not like all that x factor manufactured garbage we have these days. Great band, first heard them was I was about 11 and I am now 46!

  • @henryswin we've heard it at the same age-my first purchased LP ever-and we have the same age now.

  • I suppose they'd never heard of The Eagles!

  • RIP Woolly Wolstenholme 13 Dec 2010

  • The best of em.

  • Ive still got my Octoberon Album in Mint Condition,,, This band brings back fond memories of happy times in life,,,

  • what does that "angel" picture at the video's beginning represents...?

  • @rumelan @rumelan

Not sure it's an angel. The wings you see depict those of a butterfly. The full picture features on their then current album "Octoberon".

I bought this album purely on the strength of hearing this song on the OGWT. I'm glad I did. It's a timeless track, always sounds fresh.

There were many excellent bands around at this time, and great competition. Perhaps that is why many think BJH were underrated.

  • @rumelan

Fleetwood Mac, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd had all just released great albums at this time. Punk rock was just emerging, different to all that had gone before, and effectively put an end to the great rock era.

  • @justabrz - Technical Ecstasy - a great album?!!

  • @rumelan Its the image of the character Oberon, the fairy king from Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', on which the BJH Octoberon album title was based, as a pun. The album was released on October 1st 1976.

  • @highpark18 great! thanks!

  • Why these days we can't find bands like them or close to them? Because todays are the time of war, hatred and disasters! Even at the seventies their were all what i mentioned before, but love was much bigger than today!!!

    People changed, so we are.

  • Cant believe its 34 years old this song seems like yesterday i was watching them at the city hall in Newcastle

  • this song is one of my favorites..

I love Barclay James Harvest very much..

  • good stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rp Mel

    Great great song.

  • Long summer nights....

  • I didn't realize Derek Smalls was moonlighting. He even brought along the doubleneck bass from "Big Bottom"...!

  • Music that says a lot ,gives hope and nice memories.. Thank you BJH!!

  • mooi nummer

  • All times the best.

  • great song. Now I have a memory that they played this through the massive P.A system at the Knebworth Stones concert (where Lynyrd Skynyrd also played). It was fantastic!

  • can someone post ,, sea of tranquility,, from gone to earth, 1977 was some year january animals . pink floyd , october gone to earth,,

  • was 1977 a good year or who?

  • Don't the rhythm chords and central guitar lead have an uncanny similarity to the Eagles' "One of these Nights"?

  • I'm glad John eventually lost the beard-it takes away from his perfectly chiseled features (sigh!). Besides, it makes him look like an old boyfriend I had in '73-'74.

  • Loved them then and still~It's been years since I heard them~

  • Fantastic! Brings back great memories. Looking forward to seeing John, Wooly and the boys in Holmfirth in October.

  • Great song awful guitar.

  • woohoo One of Radio Caroline's signature tunes

    from 76

Great thanks for posting this GREAT job!!!

  • i love it

  • Géant

  • This is one of the most criminally underrated bands I ever heard. The original 4 piece had some magic. After Wooly left, the band wasn't the same...

    RIP Mel...

  • Amazing song from the Greatest prog rock band of all time !

  • opinion- there is no greatest

  • very nice fantastic 5 stars ****** bravo

  • Which is the name of the song after Rock ´n´Roll Star? In the End of the Video the song begins...

    please help me^^

  • 'The world goes' on also from 'Octoberon'

  • @Sidecarstuebchen The world goes on

sorry I just see your question

  • Yeahr geat of the 80s thanks for sharing,.........

  • 1976 actually

  • great band!!

  • Fantastic group not that I was around when they started up. Very musical and as I understand it, they WERE big in the 1970's/80's?

  • These guys here that don't like BJH..probably listen to that nigger rap shit and actually think it's music. BJH has out at least 20 albums..if that ain't successful, I don't know what is! Great Group!!

  • it's not just the 20 albuns, but also they have been all around the world always as the main event...

  • lol All those pickups and knobs and he still sounds shit. Lees was never any good anyhow. Boring boring boring. Dont know why I came here.

  • why did u come here?

  • Because you're a twat?

  • tres tres bonne chanson !!!MERCI BEAUCOUP!!!

  • Definitely....

  • Can somebody please upload their concert for the people of BERLIN held in the early 80's.. That live album is one of a kind.

  • the reason they never made it big was because they were too good.

  • the problem why this group never made it big, i think, is that they dont have a charismatic leader, thats all,its a physical thing also

    ,

    too bad, i like them

  • what about John Lees?! ;)

  • i dont think he is charismaric, he doesnt have the looks either, one of the reason why they missed big

  • I think they're all fairly charismatic, but I guess not what is usually taken for charismatic. Still. As long as we like them :)

  • so underated.

  • Classic Gold!

  • Wow, I'd never heard this great musician, he's really good, I don't know if it's an error what I'm going to say, but his music sounds like psychedlic gender, wow his band sounds pretty good!!!

  • Which ones Barclay James?

  • i love !

  • BJH is the great band, I saw 3 times in concert, it was magnificent, the best group. I listen to their music for 30 years ...

  • BJH in 70´s. What wonderful band. Now is time to rediscover this beauty

  • true rock legends!

    awesome :)

  • Used to have loads of their music but emigrated and the albums were inadvertantly left behind. Well, I left the ex and returned and blow me down, here's the long lost music. And lots of like-minded souls.

  • one of the best songs in history of pop and rock

  • BRAVO!!!!!

  • BJH, what could be better :)

  • i love this song!

    i love her...

  • Les and BJH at their best...awesome

  • This was my musical inspiration when I was at school.

  • BRILLIANT

  • It was always a mistery for me that in the beginning of the song I hear two gutiars. Now I know the truth - the bass player has a gutar neck as well. Very nice song, one of my favourites...
