a desecration against this holy mountain by more white people in the 'name' of Crazy Horse--who NEVER would allowed his name to associated with this horror. And no one knew what this great chief looked like. Leave his name out of this tourist trap!!
I think the funnies thing about this monument is that it's located outside of Custer there in South Dakota. I went there about 16 years ago and was amazed at all the progress. I know it might be "raping the land" but it is also a huge dedication to a great hero amongst the Native American people. Do people call mount rushmore raping the land as well?
@librainred You're a little naive and obviously don't have any Indian friends. its not a 'dedication'--did they ask the Great Chief? He would have said NO--"Do not descrate MOther EArth!!" And YES MT. Rushmore--the four pale faces--is a rape of the land as well.
@windstorm1000 I am not as naive as one might think, and no, I have not had the honor of having Native American friends--I may not understand how people feel, but at least I can have the privilege of my comment not sounding blatantly racist. Perhaps the monument is good or bad, it's in the eye of the beholder. (BTW, isn't the term "Indian" a little outdated nowadays? Not trying to sound like an ass, but I come from a place where it refers to people from India.)
Crazy Horse would never approve of such a raping of the land. He didn't believe in leaving even footprints behind, making such a monument is insulting to everything he believed.
@Polydynamix so true. if its about 'getting even" , and i believe it is, then an erasure of the white mens busts on native lands would be the only course of action, not another blight on mother earth. all monuments of humanity are arrogance showing our belief in the destructive temporary power of dominion. the indigenous cultures of hte world knew this and Iwill follow them and Natures laws...not htis insane man made bullshit.

His eyes peering out from the rock...too spooky. Crazy Horse is in there waiting to be revealed. This is really going to be fantastic when it's done.
