WoW!What kind of eyeliner brush did you use in this look! I absolutely GOTTA HAVE ONE!I'm more of a natural makeup type.However,your videos have inspired me to experiment with color & eyeliner!I can't wait for spring to use colorful eyeshadow!I've been practicing my liner technique,but I really just want an extremely thin line!I have reg.liner brushes and a angle liner brush too!This one you used would be EXCELLENT & HELPFUL for my application!Please let me know,I realize this is a old vid!

I think smoky eyes and red lips are always "in" for fall... after reading Allure for 5 years, i finally decide they just recycle trends every year... LOL.. Nevertheless, your look is gorgeous! I'm also glad you go back to live tutorials. Personally I prefer that to voice over :D

What makes a "smokey" eye? I think of a smokey eye as smokey around the lash line- the opposite of the dark color in the crease, light color on the lid.

From my experience, a "smokey eye" is an eyeshadow look that adds depth to the eye itself or the shape of the eye, but is also extremely well blended, hence making the eye look like it's smolder or that the colors are "smoking" out of it.

solaeclipsx - The best way to do a wing is to just keep practicing!

The easiest way that I did wings when I first started makeup was by lining my eye normally. Next, with my pencil/brush at an angle at the outer corner of my eye and drawing the wing up and out think a line like /, but less steep. Next start from the middle of my upper eyelid and draw a straight line to meet the top of the angled line I drew from the outer corner. Finally, color inbetween lines.

So, I have a question. I've heard the term 'smokey eye' used for so many different looks. Some are dark in the inner and outer corner with light in the center of the lid, others are light in the inner corner then graduating to dark on the outer. And yet... people have called them both 'smokey'. Is it a term for 'really blended'? Because I thought blending was a technique you used in most things anyway. The terminology is a bit confusing to me.

Don't know if this helps you, but I'd try:

taupe lid color = Style Snob

The pigment is already a MAC product.

matte dark brown = Espresso

matte nude = Blanc Type

Any brown gel liner, for example Fluidline Dipdown.

Probably just start mixing some lip colors you already have and you can dupe lips. Adding a little pigment would be nice (as a replacement for the NYX gloss she added, which has a slight pearlescent finish). Or you can add lustreglass or dazzleglass. Good luck!
