@egon303 It's so funny you should compare them to Radiohead. I am equally obsessed with both them and Ev Ev at the moment. Throughout the stages of my life, the quick succession musical euphoria I am presently experiencing has never been equalled. I've obviously always liked OK Computer and The Bends but HTTT and Kid A etc are only now becoming apparently incredible to me. Until now, I've been blinkered. My ears and brain have opened to this new ecstasy.
Every song this band manufactures is stunning. Have been craving a new album. I'm not surprised by the comparison to Radiohead, with the Falcetto vocals and all. But I think the main comparison can be found in the intellect of the lyrics. I cannot listen to Man Alive (anyone who hasn't checked out the bonus track "Hiawatha Doomed", DO!) without taking some sort of indie spiritual journey. I am flabbergasted this doesn't have more hits.
Don't get me wrong, I love this song, but the guitar part reminds me of Kings of Leon and "So lean me up and take a picture, I can't move my legs and arms" of Massive Attack's "Teardrop". There's also one part I can't place at all. It's totally bugging me.
The coolest, most effortlessly creative band since XTC. In fact, I hear a lot of XTC in these guys; this song's chorus sounds just like the "Mummer" album. Definitely also some Radiohaed in there, and somebody mentioned Yes -- agree! Especially in this song. The bass player stands out for me; at times sounds like Chris Squire, other times like XTC's Colin Moulding. While I hear all these influences and more, they've all been fused to create a unique sound. Love every track I've heard!
Look folks - the fact is, this song sounds a lot like Radiohead. It doesn't sound like a total Radiohead clone, but it's highly reminiscent of their sound, and that's pretty much indisputable. Still, thumbs-up.
There is a lot of Radiohead but I hear prog - I very specifically hear Yes's early albums. This band are great tho - hugely diverse in every song. Complex and beautiful, lyrics are amazing, music is so well structured. 2nd Album is gonna be amazing.
The only similarites between this and Radiohead are the high voice and the bizarre lyrics. Do people really have to keep comparing them? :l They're nothing like each other...
@muirwebb I do, except the quiet parts after Your home, Your head, Take form, which I sometimes make up depending on how events in my life are making me feel.
I absolutely love singing this in the car and sometimes just repeat it for like half an hour straight.
No song has excited me THIS much since doves released their last album. Every single second in this song is just perfect, one of the songs you can listen to a million times and you still hear something new out of it. Need to check their other songs as well. Brilliant song, far away from the mainstream stuff.
I've never loved an album so much, so quickly as Man Alive. The attention to detail and the craftsmanship blows me away, not to mention that they are just damn infectious songs.
ehauheauhuea, love this song....And the name of the band "Everything Everything", is reinforced by the fact that EVERYTHING living is made up of cells ;D
The whole album is just incredible, the tunes ring through my head in my sleep and it constantly throws up new delights. Close to being my favourite album ever after just 6 months
pretty much my all time favourite song ever in the universe. it is absolutely beautiful and the loneliest most uplifting most terrifying thing i have ever heard and i dont even have the words for how it makes me feel.
Really pleased that this was released as the 4th single :) although if I'm honest I think this video's really dull, especially compared to how inventive and interesting the others have been.
Regardless, this is still my favourite song on the album, and that's saying something.
It's also one of my faves from the magnificent album, which I'm pretty much obsessed with. Nothing has come close to Man Alive, even Radiohead's newie...
I find it very interesting that the stats for this vid show that this song is most popular with those in the Male Age 45-54 demographic. You also see considerable numbers of older people at the front at their gigs.
This is probably one of my favorite songs from the album. I can relate to the song quite abit; in a sense, it's wanting to become something better than what you are and to find purpose to go with it.
This song just says so many things. Perfection.

Unreal at Glastonbury, John Peel was smiling down on these boys that day, with the rest of us!
