Just get a dead laser, unscrew the collimating lens and put it on a non dead laser to focus it twice as more and burn at a close distance!

this is possible. Blue lasers are much more powerful per mW than red or green. a 75mW purple laser is equal to a 100mW Green or red laser.

Though this laser is marked as 5mW it would not be surprising to learn that it was set to 20 to 30 mW while merely being labeled as 5mW. You'd have to use a laser power meter to know for sure.

The lens is from a broken laser, I can make a tutorial for this if you guys want ill put one up on instructables. However it is very easy any lens shaper like () or (] seems to works well enough.

It is entirely possible that the laser has a higher output than it is rated for, I was just showing what this one can do.

@Jor2daje my 5mw 405nm one can burn matches... but only just! sometimes it can, sometimes it can not. it seems to depend on different matches, and old and new batteries.

I think that one is 10+mw :)

hey where did u get ur lense i cant find any place that sells the lenses but i hear people talk about um all the time and if u get some special lense u can jump a 300mw peak to 512mw i think they said or something so where do i buy a lense for my girlfriends 15mw laser? she made me get her a blue one >.> w.e the one im getting is a 200mw vilotet/blue so purple ish :D btw if u have a reply to my coment can u just msg me via youtube msger

Its got a greater output than 5mw. Even though the device says it puts out 5mW if you test it on a power meter you will probably get a higher reading. I've done that and got a higher reading myself.

@YouthFreedomFighters to tell you the truth you are right, but most 5mW 405nm lasers are higher powered. around 10-20mW More. but the lens just helped focus it to make a small dot so it could burn better

violet lasers use bluray diodes.. and are under powered to produce '5mw' but infact ebay violet lasers say <5mw but infact they can be up to 50mw this is why violet laser are much much more dangerous because the known mw2 isnt actually true.

Umm yes it is a 5mw thats why the video is called "5mw violet laser", the whole point is to show the power you can achieve without modding a simply 5mw laser

@Jor2daje Power outage can be modded to be like a 5mW, any more and it breaks, so it must be advertised as 5 for safety. The true power looks about 2-3mW.

Id get the best one Ive used is the collminating lens from an old laser with a burned out diode.

no i meant the dot because i bought a 5mw violet laser from ebay..great quality

but i thought its because of the laser lens thats fucked up so thats why it doesnt go very far

but is that how violet is? does it break apart and get all blurry and big at 20-35 feet?

because i tested it i kept the laser going and from 15 feet i could see a big blurb but when i got closer the dot went back to small
