  • this is the demo that I imagine! Killer dude! I wanna see somewhere a JB vs Super Distortion (dimarzio) vs X2N and playing these type of licks! great musical taste and great playing /,,/ cheers from Slovakia

  • Hey I know you are using emgs now but which on did you like best out of these ones? thanks

  • is a fender frontman 25r better than a line 6?

  • yes death to line 6 , they have the worst customer service in the business and only an odd effect or two on the Line 6 pod XT or any of the other stuff i've bought for quick sales where worth while.

good job on the guitar playing dont listen to any of the negative comments

  • for your style of playing the dimarzio's sound better

  • I would say that's not a good comparison maybe if it was paf pro/x2n vs. 59/invader the jb has boosted mids and is better for for rock and the jazz is lower output than paf

  • Why everyone is using line 6!??!! goddamn!!!! the amp is pure EPIC FAIL!!!!!

  • @SHREDDER222X lol dude ppl use it cus its cheap, not everyone can afford something nicer

  • X2N for Trash, Death and New Metal JB for 80's Metal

  • is the jb good for extreme metal?

  • dimarzio vs seymour duncan the answer is half and half X2n bridge with a jazz in the neck ;) thats what im doin anyways

  • Obviously the choice would be to get the DiMarzio X2N with the Seymour duncan Jazz Neck as a duo instead. If it was an alder body I would probably do the two Seymour Duncan pickups instead. What I'm trying to say is that the PAF Pro is a bad choice.

  • @seth3556r i agree man the paf is just a little less warm and organic

  • I was wondering why the X2N didn't sound right, but then i saw the amp.

  • @7Stringerstinger yes I have! unfortunately! but not anymore!

  • DiMarzio for the distorted parts and Seymour Duncan for the clean parts! :D

  • I definitely like the PAF better- the jazz has no mids, I like mids. haha.

  • the JB sounded somewhat muffled. go dimarzio!

  • Hello. I also purchased a set of pickups are the same as yours. Could you lay out a scheme desoldering? Would be very grateful. Thank you.

  • the jazz has a warmar tone to it in my opinion

i like the tones of the x2n but it's a bit to dark in a way although it does have killer lead tones and for overall performance a jb and jazz would be idyllic for a rocky bluesy metally feel and sound but i would choose a x2n and a jazz to have coresponding tones that setup is more suited for my style it would be fierce with a lot of gain in the bridge and clean and distill for the neck that's just my style of playing and i incude it in my songs.

  • By me Dimartzio picks have better sound. I have Dimartzio ToneZone and Paf set and it sounds much better than my early SeymourDuncan Sh10 set.

  • dude that was sick but i want to hear what pickups u prefer because the jb sounds better for soloing but the x2n sounds better for rhythm and pinch harmonics and i just think the jazz beats the paf pro

  • neat song list dude ... good playin too .. cheers

  • In my opinion, you can't really compare the JB to the X2N, and the PAF is better suited to playing leads while the jazz is great for playing big chords.

  • GET A REALL AMP DUDE, but otherwise its not a bad video

  • what guitar is that D:!?

  • Please...The name of first song and the last 2 songs??? THANKS!

  • name of track 2.38 please ? )))

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Death of a Martian

  • @mccneb very nice playing man and songs choice. i Dont know a lot about guitars. i Got the Ibanez 170dx Grg serries basswood. Can you tell me which Bridge pick up to add? I wont spend more to add Neck etc i want just Bridge one. Jb's? X2n? or Superdistortion Dimarzio ?ty

  • I think seymour suits clean, but dimarzio win the distortions... well just my opinion.

  • does the PAf pro have a higher output?

  • DiMarzio PAF Pro sounds WAY better than the Seymour Duncan Jazz.

  • what is this 'real' guitar you speak of? could you possibly upload a video of yourself showing how to play 'real' guitar?

  • @mccneb He's just a troll, your playing is great :)

  • what the hell are you saying?

  • Come on!! It´s not bad.

  • @318825768

Troll, I want to see your videos.

  • Very nice demo, thumbs up. Just checking, did you have the same exact settings when comparing the X2N and the JB? I ask because there is a huge difference in sound between the two, and that is usually not the case. The X2N sounds very shrill and the JB has no high frequencies. As a JB owner I know this pickup and I am using it as a reference to judge the X2N which is the one I want to buy.

  • I tried that amp in a studio yesterday.. the most HORRIBLE and FAKE amp EVER!

  • I agree

  • @antecresearch thats why i will never bu line 6 ever

  • @antecresearch I have it... I regret it and I'm getting the mesa mark iv asap

  • The seymour duncan sounds warmer to me

  • how would the JB and Jazz sound in a Basswood guitar? basswood body(no maple top), maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. I play mainly metal, both distorted and clean so I need good distortion and good cleans.

  • Good intention for a video but I really can't tell whether a pickup sounds good through an awful amp.

  • this is a great video, dimarzio and seymour compared on the same kind of guitar. on my opinion, if im going to record a song, i'll go with the seymour. but in live performances i'll go with the dimarzio specialy with the solos. the seymour has a cool sound to it, but the dimarzio however is aggressive. depending on the mood wether to be cool or aggressive ^_^ ... that's only my opinon dont hate me

  • Nice job

  • JB with distortion is fucking funny

  • @ViLLZzZz LolWut?

  • For ur gtr X2N/paf pro better(as for me). Again, p.u choice is depend on ur music genre/melodies and what song ur covering cause sometimes our amp/processor etc. can't do all the jobs. But JB/Jass p.u is great for everything.

  • i think the DiMarzio is much more tremblier. In another guitar maybe it would sound better. For the neck the jazz is clearly a winner for me. I can't decide about the bridge.. I think the duncan is more my style but the Dimarzio seems to have better output but the sound of the duncan is better. But that depends on your style too and your amp offcourse. In a mahogany body the Dimarzio would sound very cool (maybe the guitar in vid is mahogany too) But on most guitars and my adler JB wins

  • I would suggest Fralins or lollars far more clarity

  • Absolutely....though Fralin and Lollar go with a more vintage voice than those used in this video.

I'd throw Suhr, WCR and Bare Knuckle pickups in for people looking for higher end pickups.

  • i still think i can hear moar clearly the x2ns than the duncans , wich imo , is really nice , at first i thought the paf sounded to sparkly but then noticed it can have more lows just with amp tweaking and then i think duncans ( at least in this demo ) dont sound bright enough ( to me )

  • i personally liked the jb on the clean parts

  • jb is not very good clean

  • This comparison showed what i expected: it showed how bad the Duncans sound, compared to DiMarzios. The DiMarzios both sound louder and more clear as well. Again, no surprise to me.

I never understood why so many people do use Duncans although DiMarzios cost the same (and often do sound much better) ...

  • cause the duncan has soul in the pickup dimarzios have none also the best passive seymour to get is the dimebucker

  • sorry, but thats nonsense. no pickup has soul. they have wire and bobbins and magnets and so on, but soul?

no, dimarzios soudn better in most cases, and people with ears know that ;-).

  • Soul? Really? You realize you're talking about a magnet with some copper wiring?

  • like Hartley Peavey says 'there is no special place where noble hermits make pickups that are blessed in swamp juice'

  • Haha I love that interview.

  • ive played both. i can tell you that the duncans get heavier and sound better. you probably cant tell on a youtube video but trust me duncan is amazing. dimarzio is great too but if you really want to call duncan bad then you dont know what you're talking about

  • The JB will sound a lot better in an alder body guitar! In mahogany sounds muddy...

  • The Dimarzio would cut better through a mix.

  • The x2n would not cut through with his current amp settings. The JB would actually cut through more because his has more mids. the x2n has alot more low end and a scooped mid sound which in a mix, the bass player would stomp all over it. With his current amp settings that is.

  • I still hear more mids coming out of the X2n on distortion at least.

  • Technicly speaking, you would have to be there to tell. The recording for the JB is kind muffled. Its actually a brighter pickup. Again, it has more to do with his amp settings.

  • thats what i love about the JB..its about perfect. very balanced, with none of the strings standing out more than others.

  • i love the warm, smooth sound of the jazz....

  • I own a JB SH-4 and I am really loving it..Thanks for the video man..cheers \,,/

  • are the settings the same on each demo?? dO YOU KNOW WHAT THE GUITARS ARE MADE OF??

  • the settings are the same. what guitars??? it's the same guitar and it's mahogany

  • God...the Jazz sounds so beautiful....I can't fucking wait till mine arrives.

  • dimarzios are better thanks for helping

  • Dimarzios are much better, but try the air norton, i think you will find it sounds much better then the PAF

  • Comment removed

  • can you play some leads? want to hear how good it is for solo

  • No can do... I sold my Ibanez :( watch the whole video, you'll find some leads in it ;)

  • Sonds to me as the JB had more bottom end. Do you think so?

  • Yes, it has more bottom end than the X2N

  • I am looking for a pick up that is hot but with a nice bottom end. I have owned the JB but would like something a little more nasty but it seems like every time I find a hot pickup it is very thin and trebly. Any suggestions?

  • try the dimarzio d-sonic

  • to me the x2n sounds with a more open sound , the other one sounds kinda compressed. ima gonna buy x2n soon for sure (: awesome playing

  • What about your own opinion Mccneb?

  • In an ideal scenario I would use the X2N in the bridge and the SD Jazz in the neck. I love the X2N's output and pinched harmonics as for the Jazz... I love it's clarity. There... that's about it

  • Have you ever compared the SD Jazz vs the '59? In the neck position. I need an opinion on this. I love the Jazz sound, way more than the Paf.

  • aw crap... I have never tried the '59 so I can't give you an answer but the '59 IS a PAF pickup so...

  • what is that first song your playing?

  • the duncans do way better on the clean than the paf pro's at least to my ear!

  • Agreed the Duncans sound better clean, the Paf pro has a annoying ringing sound after each note. On the bridge I like the X2N's tone more.

  • Seymour Duncan JB in bridge and Paf Pro in the neck sound like the perfect combinaison for me. Man Nice videos, like them alot. Thanks!

  • mhm they sound difrent, but jb does have a more cleaner sound, not so high like the other.

  • what song are you playing in the beginning???

  • PAF

  • paf pro rules

  • Unholy dissection Tunes Man

    Q:)

The dimarzios arent good to my ears i preffer the duncans

although the ones in question arent my taste

i preffer a custom custom bridge.

    check out my clips

Hails dissection and hails to you

    JP

  • im partial to duncans any way, soo i say duncan !

  • I liked the paf better

  • i prefer PAF

  • The Duncans sound like they have more of a tight end and and creamier, crisp, clear and you can hear every note and it doesent wash out like the other does. There just a much warmere sound to me

  • Oddly, in this video I like the PAF Pro more, sounds cleaner. While, the Seymour Duncan with the mid range can sound whiny in this video..

  • you shouldn't have doubled the jb on the first clip it made it harder to compare the tones

  • have you tried gfs crunchy rails set??

  • Nope, no one in my country sells them and I don't like to buy on-line. Once they're available I'll give em a try. Thanks

  • paf is way beter

  • whats your amp settings on clean and distortion?

  • clean channel red LED, metal channel red (lead) and metal channel green LED (rhythm), not default, I'm not sure what positions the pots were since they're presets I've saved a while back

  • Jazz sounds a tad more midrangey and defined on clean. PAF sounds better to my ears.

  • Are the X2N passive pickups?

  • yes

  • how would the x2n sound with a solid state amp i know they probally sound best with a tube amp?

  • The Bj Sh-4 is old and it was used in hardrock 80´.

The X2N is much more special, exelent for agresive metal like 90' and actual death music!.

  • The X2N is also pretty old, year of production is 1979. The difference between the two is that the X2N has a ceramic magnet while the JB has an alnico magnet thus giving the X2N a sharp, loud sound. IMO the JB's sound is more defined, but the X2N is a harmonic rapist... it just rapes those harmonics... crazy
