I am not sure if this is quite it, because I really love Eliade..but I will agree with the others that putting this in a movie is very, very brave!!!

The movie was made for television, and it is not very spectacular. Eliade's novel is more passional, more terrifying and mysterious. Simina is 9 years old, and she is acting like a sado-maso prodigy child. They choose here an older actress because it was easier to make the delicate shootings.

Completely agree with you Carolina...I was quite disappointed when I saw this. I heard, though, that they are planning to shoot another movie soon. Eliade is a special author and no matter how good the director his writings are not easily transformed into movies. He and Bulgakov are my favorites...and I was extremely, extremely disappointed by The Master and Margarita's version done by a Russian director.
